I am building a Hackintosh, but I can't find any reliable El Capitan installation files. And yes, I've checked the Applications folder, as well as the App Store Purchased folder. There are a lot of files floating around, at places like nnmclub, but I haven't been able to find a file with a checksum matching the official "Mac OSX InstallESD.dmg" files. For instance, 10.11.6 El Capitan (15G31) is supposed to have the following SHA1 checksum: 7739e3f62080000da5d28efa689c53976112a262. What I have found after countless hours are "multi/ru" installer files and a "OS X El Capitan for intel pcs.raw" files, but I am not sure that these are to be trusted. Could someone maybe please point me in the right direction?
Thanks. Maybe I am a bit paranoid, but I am not completely sure that I trust that raw file. And I guess it doesn't work with multibeast, which is what I would prefer. I can't really understand why it is so hard to find the original untouched OSX El Capitan dmg somewhere.
I have been messing with Hackintosh a while now. I dipped my hand in my pocket and bought direct from Apple MAC OS X Snow Leopard on disc. I use this to get going then using my Apple account I download each and every update as they are released. Just updated mine to Mac OS Sierra this weekend. This makes sure UniBeast works as it should too, making the USB installer. I paid £14 for my disc. I think you can get Mountain Lion on disc too but don't quote me on that.
Found this, seems legit enough 4 me ;=) ://7labs.heypub.com/tips-tricks/el-capitan-direct-download.html+&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=si
:=) sebus you r 100% right but there will always be some % of us who did n know that you could download AND NOT actually install the new os. Lesson learned at least on my side. Honestly i thought ...once download started i am on the train with no ticket to stop it.
I make sure I pick new version from Appestore, so if I need never version later I just download it DIRECT, as simple as it gets
