The basic MS OS subscription (Windows, windows server, sdk's ddk's, TK's) is $699, that comes out to $58.25 a month for the first year, renewal is $499 so keeping the subscription for at least a second year would be like $41.58 a month. It really isn't that bad (For basic) when you totally up the cost of the keys etc. Pro is $100 a month <- get SQL, Embedded, VS Team Foundation Server with above (Best bang of the day for most) Pro+Test $180 a month <- adds Team Foundation Service to above Premium $509 <- almost my car payment lol (My personal favorite, has Office wrapped in it too) Ultimate $1108 a month <-3rd of a mortgage lol
It's because you don't have VL Subscription and most of the regular users doesn't have it. Unless you are a Enterprise / Corporate.
What do you mean by Really? Microsoft won't remove any products from MSDN / TechNet. The only thing is your MSDN / Technet subscription will get expire.
main reason for MS removal of files previous to now, was Java lawsuit and screwy iso's they repaired. Almost everything stays to a point.

This is what i understood from your question. I thought you are saying that MS will remove the products from your subscription when your MSDN/Technet gets expire. So i have answered like that.
