I receive an "Error 1314: A required privilege is not held by the client"
    ....................................................................................................
I've solved my own problem. I needed to "Run as Administrator'. All working now..

It does not matter what you do! All updates are the same. It's just that now you can read them in polish. M$ is making updates for the operating system not the language.

I've used it for about a week now. There was one update that didn't install when I downloaded updates. It was KB971029. So I downloaded the manual stand-alone installer for the update KB971029 from Microsoft. Then I wiped everything off my hard drive, blanked it and re-installed POSReady 2009. But this time I ran the stand-alone installer for KB971029 first before I went online to get the rest of the updates. It was installed this time, so I went online to get the rest of the updates and no more errors appeared.

    This is not true.

Only as of NT6 series operating systems, have I noticed that some other bundled elements may not work without the .NET Framework, but those elements, themselves, were not main components, but also included with the operating system.

Windows XP, however, needs not the .NET Framework at all. The Media Center/Tablet PC add-in software (as included on Disc 2 of the installation media that those versions typically are distributed with) however would use the .NET Framework and the .NET Framework was also distributed on the Disc 2 media.

I tested the evaluation CD myself. I noticed the interactive setup prompts for component selection and has .NET Framework 2.0 selected by default and grayed out. To exclude the .NET Framework and preempt its installation, dependent optional components must first be deselected.

im just getting back to pos2009 experimenting and i could have sworn it came with EWF (Enhanced Write Filter) but my fresh install doesnt have it, so i searched the install CD and no sign of EWF on it? huh? it has FBWF (File Backed Write Filter) but I was sure it had EWF also, no?edit: according to the .pdf in the OP, EWF was not available in pos2009 however it is doable, just like XP

also, does the PK used make any difference in the finish install of pos2009 os? like some keys might enable EWF and other dont? nevermind the trial keys obviously. thanks

right, thanks! since fbwf is file based and ewf is sector based, ewf is a better choice from a security standpoint IMO. ive installed ewf for that reason using the guide on mp3car but also retained fbwf. i set up the HDD with two partitions, ewf protecting C: and fbwf protecting D: with exceptions for a few folders. so far its working great!
