I'm afraid of using the OEMBIOS changer, because once I accidentally changed the real bios settings from a VM. Thoughts?

I got a Windows XP Pro VL (RTM) iso. How would I convert that into OEM? I tried the stickied guide, and it was for SP3. (I tried it, and I got a "Setup failed to install the catalog" error.) I tried just copying the OEMbios into the iso and changing the setupp.ini file. Got stuck on "Type a product key" because I couldn't install the 30day.

    E: I meant VL.

Why not jus use the VL version then and not have any activation?

If you have purchased Win XP License then you can activate the same on VM too. Otherwise use VL version which will activate offline.;)
