The downside of using ZorinOS 11 Ultimate is the support which will end in 6 months because it's based on Ubuntu 15.10 which will be EOL in July this year. I guess they will release Zorin OS 12 Ultimate based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
I hope they iron out some bugs, like freezing in Kodi etc. Also, a File Manager with tree view enabled... Etc. etc.
Yeah, I think that's one of the top3 reasons which makes it really hard for some people to go the final step from Windows to Linux. There are far too many distros to choose. Luckily I found Mint which I love, but without Mint Cinnamon I wouldn't use Linux as my daily OS. Even Ubuntu with Cinnamon doesn't feel the same, it has to be the real Mine for me. Finding the real distro for your personal needs and likes might take a while, some people just don't wanna invest this time ending up again with Windows. Back to Zorin I tried it out for a while, but never really got into it. In my eyes Zorin just tries to feel like Windows but failed hard with it.
Failed hard - but no evidence given.... Ahem... It's not bad at all, minus a few issues, which might be Kodi related or maybe simply need a different app etc. Whatever do you have in mind, plus have you actually tried the last version at all?
What do I think of ZorinOS ?? I've used it, helped friends get it - and IMO it was crawling with bugs, so I went back to Ubuntu with LXDE; Byebye bugs !! I've just posted about 2 Debian based distros that I've found that are really what I'd hoped that Zorin might have been like...but was not. Aside of all that - having a paid version on a super-slow download site was not any way to make friends with this user of free Linux for a decade or so already.
Just for info Zorin OS 11 Ultimate x64 MD5 checksum for the original .7z container file --> 8fed58ad9511c05621ad6979eeda0ad9 MD5 checksum for the .iso file after you extract it from the .7z container file --> f164a7320a6e530c84f982009f159494

Ach, it's still... a bit of a challenge to get this going properly... For instance, during bootup from a DVD it used the WiFi device no problem, downloaded various additional files (codecs etc.) etc. But after installation - no way, even after I installed the driver for it and it could see the device as active... Btw, it doesn't have a Debian/Ubuntu installer app etc. etc. It makes things needlessly more difficult... VLC can't bloody play simple videos and show images (only audio), also its "default" Video player.... Kodi finally did it but they only have 15.2 version... 3D Cube desktop is not possible, it seems, as the Compiz plugin just crashes... Reboots were torture at times - reboot button was the only option! Grub customizer installed and it helped, somehow... And on and on and on... Dunno... I'll have to test it more to tell.... But so far it has not sparkled and dazzled me...
Just my additional 2.5 cents here: They tried to re-invent the wheel, making it both square and round at once. I have found it is easier to get what I desire in a Linux by simply starting with Ubuntu Mate, then making things fit my needs from that starting point; this is ALOT different from what has been done by the Zorin boys - and in my tests I have seen that they have broken as much as they have fixed...hence why I stopped giving this distro any further attention.
Yes, I would have to agree, from what I have tried and whatever I might "know"... My hope was they improved enough, so my 7 year old would have had an easier ride, since it is similar to Winblows....
