    is there a way to get $OEM$ from official HP Recovery Discs ?

    is there a way to get $OEM$ from Recovery partition on HDD (not from a DVD)?

    please excuse my stupidity, is there a simple link to all OEM sources per vendor like they have on Windows 7 forums, ive been searching this thread for Sony OEM sources and I cant find it :(

    I'm afraid there isn't the vista OEM Sources uploads seemed to have stopped since windows 7 appeared you could still download one of the other oem sources folders and add sony logos PID.txt and certificate to that. Just make sure your logos are names the same as int the scripts.

    I know I was able to copy files from my recovery partition on a DV9653 - folder settings; views; enable show system files and disable hide protected files [or names like those] then go to the recovery partition and you'll see all files on that partition. Copy whatever you need......

    2011 and this thread is still very useful! :worthy:

    I had a friend's Toshiba Satellite in today because it wouldn't boot no more.
    The recovery partition was busted, the system partition was also busted. And ofcourse, no recovery discs available :eek: Worst of all: Vista COA totally unreadable.

    So..... did successful data recovery via Linux. Made my own OEM Toshiba OEM using this thread, Windows activated and all is fine now!!!
