    Hi guys,

    I have a Lenovo Y570 laptop with InsydeH20 bios. The laptop works but it takes a long time to boot up, hangs on BIOS for a while. I had a look in the BIOS and scarily it says the bios version is "FAKE DATA". I tried to flash the bios using the x64 flash tool from the Lenovo website but I get an error message like "IHISI: Get platform info fail in SMI". I have tried modifying the platform.ini file to ignore any errors but this one still persists. So I am trying to flash the BIOS using recovery methods. I can successfully put the laptop in to BIOS recovery mode using Fn+R keys, but it fails to even power the USB flash drive what so ever. I have tried all ports, and tried formatting to FAT and FAT32 but still the light will not even come on the USB port. I tried to burn the files to the disk instead, the laptop will see if there is a disk inserted but does not try to red any data from it.

    As the file names have to be exact (although I don't know what exact is) I have 6 files on the USB and CD named; IQY0.bin/fd, IQY0206.bin/fd, PIQY0.bin/fd

    All are the same and pulled out the original executable flash file from Lenovo.

    I would highly appreciate any help!

    Thanks,
    Graham

    Hi howdies,

    Can anyone help me, here? please.
    Last week, My laptop got stuck after a BIOS update failure (I don´t know WHY) I followed ACER steps before to install their upgrade. (The update banner just jump up while i was working in my laptop).

    I´ve already tried to recovered the BIOS using the steps of USB flash drive, also i removed the CMOS battery over 10min and nothing happened.

    Use the Phoenix to get the .FD name and rename it but nothing.

    my laptop is a Acer Aspire S7- 392-9890; I´ve tried to find some information about this issue in this model but any comment or information appears.

    My USB flash driver is a HP 8GB.
    Please any help.

    See you

    Packard Bell TM85 recovery instructions

    Cause: wrong BIOS flash (ex. "Verifying Error" with Windows flash program)
    Diagnostic: Fixed BLUE leds (power, power button), NO display signal, NO display backlight, FAN full ON.

    Solution step-by-step

    1) format into FAT a small size USB drive (I suggest a LED equipped one)

    2) download latest BIOS for your model from PB site. For EN TM85 model is 1.23.

    3) locate NEW70123.fd rom file into \DOS subfolder of ZIP file and extract it to USB drive root

    4) name it NEW70x64.fd (! CASE SENSITIVE - Use exactly this name or it will not work !)

    5) remove battery and AC plug from laptop

    6) push Fn+Esc keys and keep pushed (I suggest to use the right hand)

    7) insert AC plug

    8) press power button (the laptop should power up immediatley) and release it

    9) release Fn+Esc keys

    The laptop should start in the same mode as previous state, but seconds after you should see the USB drive LED turning ON, then starting blinking.

    If all the process is right, the new BIOS will be automatically flashed.
    Just wait that the process ends, the internal FAN should stop and the laptop turn OFF.

    Restart it and enjoy.

    PS - I've used the left USB port.

    I want to flash my aspire V5 but can't find the files to rename or what to rename them to.

    I looked in platform .ini and found AA and BB to rename but what do I rename?

    My bios download from acer gave me a .exe file with the following files:
    FlsHook.exe
    FlsHookDll.dll
    FWUpdLcl.exe
    InsydeFlash.exe
    iscflash.dll
    iscflash.sys
    iscflashx64.sys
    platform.ini
    xerces-c_2_7.dll

    Which of these should I load to the flashdrive?

    (3 years later, I know...) I have a bricked Aspire 5720z I'm failing to repair. I've extracted the .FD files from Bios updated from .19 to .45 - check with Phonenix tools, etc. etc. It keeps searching the CD's I made, and doesn't appear to ever find the file it wants.
    Any suggestions?

    Soved it! You MUST use the USB ports on the left hand side of the machine.

    That's all folks. Those are on the motherboard and the others are external and... use the ones on the left and it works like a charm.

    Of all things... Persistence.

    Hello, i think this is the right thread to repost the same problem with Insyde BIOS recovery (still unsolved), sorry for my bad English, well i did a stupid experimental stuff (can't be undone) with Insyde OA3 Injection tools) to write ACPI MSDM table with my own key (yeah now i know it's useless) on InsydeH20 BIOS (Acer Aspire E1-471, InsydeH20 Non UEFI BIOS v1.29, already SLIC'ed by AndyP's tool and the final result it seems ACPI tables are corrupted (RW Everything can't read it anymore: totally give some errors: "Clock generator, SMBus, ACPI tables" it's really annoying). Tried to clear/edit it by using the same tool but unfortunately stll can't work for some unknown reason (commands i.e: OAtool.exe -e, InsydeFlash /OAD:xx-xx-xx-xx always give some error "SMI 41h fail" etc). Well that's OK, just simply wanna to recover the BIOS, I've tried to reflash it with untouched Acer BIOS (InsydeH20 V1.29 : global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.29_A_A.zip?acerid=635215696626586084&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20E1-471&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=AAP_1 ) also created Crisis USB flash Drive for BIOS recovery, all successfully reflashed the BIOS but the ACPI Tables are still corrupted and the MSDM table still exists there (It's not supposed to be there since the previous/untouched BIOS dump doesn't have it by default). Here is the result of previous ACPI table list (dumped by SLIC_ToolKit_V3.2):

    Seems the recovery/reflashing process only overwrites the existing BIOS not totally "reformat/clear" it while some regions still intact there including the MSDM table, even using Crisis USB doesn't do the job successfully :weeping:.
    Any suggestion please to reset/recover my BIOS back to Insyde factory default and remove the MSDM table/recover the ACPI tables? :worthy:Maybe Yen could help, i'm pretty sure there's a working solution for this. Any help would be gratefully appreciated, since i'm just new to BIOS mods, not the expert, just wanna get my standard BIOS back. Big thanks in advance :worthy:

    Hey! I need your help.
    I have an Acer Aspire E1-572G. The laptop somehow crashed from windows mode and now it doesn't even enter bios. I wasn't in the room when that happend so I don't know what was the problem. I don't know which version of bios I have/had. The laptop does still enter in recovery mode with Fn+Esc.
    The last version of bios from Acer site is Insyde 2.14.
    Do you have any solutions?
    Thanks!

    Lenovo Z500 bios recovery

    Hello, Im new user.

    I have lenovo z500. After succefully flashing bios, laptop on power wants a "system password".
    I tried to flash bios by USB drive with correct bios name on it, but when Im start laptop with method to recovery, pendrive led light just for a 0.5sec than stop.
    After 10-15min it's lighting like a normal reading than stop again and nothing happend.
    Fans are working on full rpm for all the proccess, there are no one BEEPs'. I tried to to this with 8gb,1gb pendrive fat32 formatted, with
    -VIWZ1.bi (correct name for my bios. "VIWZ1.bi?")
    -VIWZ1.bin
    -VIWZ1.rom
    -VIWZ1.fd on it.
    I have to disconnect the AC adapter to stop it cuz its working for 30min with no reason, EXCEPT one NOW I can choose in BOOT manager option for(without password)
    -EFI network 0 for IPv4
    -EFI network 0 for IPv6
    Its doesnt list SDD or pendrive plugged into laptop. Now laptop wants ONLY PASSWORD for BIOS SETUP.
    What to do? How to by pass this?

    Hi!

    I think i have a Toshiba Satellite L645D with a corrupted BIOS here.

    When turning it on, the screen stays completely black, but the CPU fan, the hard drive and the DVD drive spin up. I suspect this happened because there was a power surge or power outage at exactly the wrong time, and the laptop's battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. The BIOS seems to be an Insyde BIOS.

    So far, I have tried the following:
    - use Toshiba's BIOS download to burn the bootable .iso file to a CD. The Readme.txt file says I should simply "Press C during booting" to boot from CD, but this doesn't do anything.
    - Toshiba's BIOS update file contains a file called 'TE3220.fd', which is exactly 2048 KB in size. I have copied this file to a 1GB usb flash drive, with the following names, which are all variants I have thus far seen on this and other forums:

    - PSK0QU.fd
    - te.fd
    - te3220.fd
    - te3220_SLIC.fd
    - 3220.fd
    - bios.fd
    - BIOS.rom
    - BIOS.WPH
    - L645.fd
    - AA.fd
    - BB.fd
    - AAHW.FD
    - BBHW.FD
    - AAHW.BIN
    - BBHW.BIN
    - AAHW.ROM
    - BBHW.ROM
    - BB.ROM
    - AA.ROM

    Andy's BIOS mod tool doesn't actually tell me what the name should be - the pop-up that appears simple gives some basic debug information. No filename anywhere in the popup, or in the log file.
    I did find a 'platform.ini' file inside C:\sk0qv220\os2012286a_220\Rostock10AD10ADG_BIOS_WIN_V220\x86
    The only interesting contents I can see are:

    Code:
    [FDFile]
    FileName=BIOS.fd

    [.....]

    [Platform_Check]
    flag=3
    PlatformName=AA
    PlatformName2=BB

    [.............]

    [ApplicatonFlash]
    Flag=0
    Model=

    [..........]

    [VARIABLE]
    Flag=0
    SystemManufacturer=0
    BoardManufacturer=0
    SystemProductName=0
    SystemSerialNumber=0

    With my USB flash key, with all those files on it, I do the following:
    - unplug the laptop from AC power (no battery installed).
    - insert USB flash drive
    - Press Fn+f or F or Fn+B or Win+F or Win+B (and keep pressing them!)
    - wait 2 seconds
    - plug in AC power
    - wait 2 seconds
    - press power button

    The LED on the flash drive then immediately starts to blink for aprox. 3 seconds (as if looking for a file?). After 3 seconds, the flash drive stops blinking, an absolutely nothing happens.
    This leads me to believe that I still haven't found the right filename.

    I would be very grateful if someone could help with this, and maybe point me in the right direction of where I can find the correct filename to use.

    I live in Costa Rica, and AFAIK, there is no official Toshiba support center here, and I am certain that every normal laptop repair shop will simply say that I should replace the motherboard (that's all they always say!)

    Hi guys,
    after 7 years of linux today I decided to install win7 on my hp dv5 1030el.
    After the installation the bios was f**ked.
    at the beginning I had the HP screen but nothing happened. just freeze on that screen. pressing the button f1, f9 everything was useless.
    Then I tryed to do the bios reset with win+b but nothing.
    Then I tryed to do the bios reinstall from usb. downloaded from hp the sp45138, put the file 3603F21.fd on the usb, rename it with 3603.bin and tryed again. the pc was working, beeping and then after some seconds of high speed fan, shut down by himself. try to restart. nothing. now black screen. no bip, no num lock/caps lock lights. hhd seems to work, i can see the light blinking at the beginning. same the dvd reader.
    i tried with the other file 3602F21.fd, but nothing. tryed to change the name to both files, .rom, .bin, .fd, crysis. nothing. tryed to change usb port, nothing.

    if I do the win+b the pc seems to work and install something, the usb is blinking, there a beeps and everything, but then the result is "zero".

    What can I do ?
