Perhaps. I was a XP user for a very long time, stopped using it as my main os several years ago and today only my brothers computer is running XP (Home) beacuse its too old to run anything else But I know some companies might still be running XP.
Its about time someone made Windows XP Repository! Good work ameykelkar. I have always had trouble getting XP activated. Thanks
when i was installing the XP Home edition it said it failed to copy some files. About 10+ times i had to press ESC and in the end it failed to configure. I thought this was genuine or did i do something wrong?
Will you please try to elaborate. That will help us all. Like what source of installation you used. What version of Windows you previously had and other such details..
i previously had windows xp professional in my computer , but i had the problem ''NTLDR is missing'' . I thought reinstalling windows would fix it , and i got the xp home edition iso from this thread. So i burn it on a cd and tried it on the computer that had the problem and had problems while it install -> could not copy the file : (filename.dll) Pressed esc and skipped through it and while on configurating it had some kinda like error on line 2473 or so. And now my computer wont boot because windows/system is not found. Hope my explanation is enough ._.
@ fiona, do you have a branded machine i,e, Dell, HP, ASUS for example ? also even if you were installing retail version of xp you need to use same version your serial key would never work.
im not sure what is the brand but its CPU when it boots, things i see = Pheonix - AwardBIOS - V6.00 PG, An Energy Star Ally Main Processor : AMD Athlon(tm) , 64 Processor 3000 + if that doesnt help , do you know any ways to determine my cpu brand? >_< As for the installation, it never prompts me to type any serial key.
If you get the "NTLDR is Missing" error, follow these instructions: 1. Load Windows XP CD into CD drive. 2. Boot the computer from CD. 3. At menu, press "R" to load Recovery Console. 4. Select the installation to be fixed. 5. The following instructions assume CD-ROM is labeled as drive D and the hard drive partition the windows installation is on is labeled as drive C. Replace the letters accordingly. 6. Type "COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\" and press ENTER. 7. Type "COPY D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\" and press ENTER. 8. Remove CD and type "EXIT" and press ENTER (to reboot your computer).
soooo... do we have to know my machine brand to complete the installation? :s coz it cant boot because of the system file is missing. ill come up with the results in a sec.
