ok ,,,but will i need to re-activate my windows enterprise N after upgrade to 8.1 ? and which key should i use then. The one i used to activate windows 8 Ent N initially will work ?

 

Take a look at what you said. You are on 8.1 enterprise N
You want to upgrade to 8.1 enterprise.

If you are trying to go from 8.1 enterprise N to 8.1 enterprise, you need the 8.1 enterprise iso.

 

if you don't have a new key for your enterprise, you also can activate with MTK which gives you a continuous 180 day activation

 

man i tried the ISO , the setup ran perfectly fine till 100% and after that a message appeared that installation of windows has failed.
kindly guide..

I am on an activated windows 8 ENT N 64 bit edition via MAK key , i changed default GLV key to MAK key and have it activated back in year 2012, now i wanted to upgrade to windows 8.1 ENT N 64 bit and got the ISO from Pauls jukebox " en_windows_8.1_enterprise_n_with_update_x64_dvd_4065163 " , the setup ran fine till 100% asking to reboot auto and then sudenly a message appeared that installation of windows has failed.

What could be the issue ? should i need to de-activate my windows and run setup again?

yes kaspersky internet security was shut down. all updates have been installed as well.
i have attached the snapshot as well.

btw i am currently using activated WINDOWS 8 ENTERPRISE-N RTM X64 VOLUME ENGLISH BOOT DVD [ThumperDC] and trying to upgrade to windows 8.1 ENT N 64 bit.

hi man used your iso but the error as attached came after 100% installation.

 

guess that that kasper s**t somewhere blocks installation. Completely remove it using kaspertool from their site and then try again

I,m quit new here and i,m stuck with Windows 8 Enterprise X64 EN but not able to download the correct ISO so i can upgrade to Windows 8.1 Enterprise EN without losing all my progs and files.

I,m pretty sure that the answer is here to find for me but i need a bit of your exptertise to find the correct file.
Would any of you be so kind to post me a link so i can download this baby??

hi i completely removed kasper , rebooted and tried the upgrade , yet it failed again.
does it has to do with the MAK Key i have used to activate windows 8 ENT N earlier? it was GVLK i deleted it and installed a MAK key and activated it .

 

I would recommend backing up important data.
It is not very often that Win8.1 setup will fail when not running an a/v program.

 

Hello, I'm not sure about the differences of the last iso in comparison to the first and second one:

1.) de_windows_8.1_with_update_x86_dvd_4048128.iso (contains core and pro, right?)
2.) de_windows_8.1_enterprise_with_update_x86_dvd_4050413.iso (Enterprise Version, ok.)
3.) de_windows_8.1_professional_vl_with_update_x86_dvd_4048688.iso (???)

I thought vl means only a volume-key and could be used with a core/pro-iso. Is that wrong?


Second question, are all of these images original and official images from Microsoft?

Thank you! I really thought it was like Windows 7, volume-license-key doesn't need a special version and could be used with a ultimate-iso (or removed ei.cfg).
