If you like less fancy desktop OSes for me that I have late 2008 macbook pro I would suggest Mavericks (10.9). It is far more beautiful and simple than Yosemite and El capitan and have much better support than Snow Leopard (for apps). The bad thing is that some apps don't support it in their late editions such as Tweetbot and 1Password. For me Snow Leopard was by far the best and I think I am gonna stick with Mavericks regarding OSX. Sierra won't support my hardware and they don't either seem to improve anything regarding desktop OS... everything becoming more and more iOS and iOS 7 and up is becoming more and more ugly So choose either Snow Leopard if you don't care about late or latest apps or Mavericks if you are ready to compromise some latest apps bust still having acceptable performance and graphics
Totally agreed. Mavericks is the last version that can be called beautiful GUI. Not sure why everyone (OS X, WIN X) are after these stupid flat tile stuff. I just can not understand the logic, especially nowadays when the hardware is generally good enough to support eye candies without noticeable performance impact.
Mavericks was my favorite for both looks and performance, never heard any real complaints about it, thinking of trying to shoehorn it on my 2015 macbook, not sure if I can but I might give it a try soon.
