What is the hardware ID of your acpi device that not got installed? Edit: If it is UEFI\RES_{f1b313d2-5b76-4be6-8c35-5c077fcda117}&REV_31A01F4 then it is the SurfaceRT UEFI firmware .bin which just installed via updates.
all my devices under Device Manager list a time of installation around the same time (within 2 minutes), including the Surface RT UEFI firmware under Firmware and Surface Accessory Device under System Devices. However, Under Computer the 'ACPI ARM-based PC' entry does not list any events. This would agree with LightningXCE's observation of an "unknown ACPI' device before the update.
Note to those who are using the "easy way" and installing with the driverpack provided by WZor. 90% of the drivers provided by WZT is outdated as of September 2012. Only 10% of the drivers are on versions/timestamp recent enough to tell they are for RTM (released after Preview). They didn't take the occasional monthly driver updates into account. Better if you extract your drivers from Preview and replace the outdated versions (versionmerge files).
Well, I confess, I did it the easy way. So while I may have old drivers now, I would assume that they will update over time via Windows Update - right? I hope. Curious about the video driver... I'm hoping that it will include WDDM 1.3 so I can play around with WiDi....
It would seem this has been solved with 8.1? "Create recovery drive" now uses .esd instead of .wim and has a folder called Drivers\BootCritical and Drivers\Regular Just bought a Surface RT, it still comes with the 0-day OS image (Office 2013 Preview!) For a Windows 8.0 recovery USB The built-in way (Create recovery drive) works fine I used USB Image Tool for backup/restore of the Recovery USB itself. USB IT works, but there must be a better way, hopefully one day direct USB -> ISO by some smart program OR MS made a recovery image for 8.0 officially available, around the time of 8.1 RTM due to an update-bricking issue at the time. The main download was taken down, but it's still available here microsoft.c o m/surface/en-sg/support/warranty-service-and-recovery/surface-rt-startup-error-0xc000000d This has a slightly newer Install.wim (5/21/2013 vs 12/15/2012) Now for a Windows 8.1 recovery USB Note that I went from box -> updated 8.0 -> updated 8.1 My recovery partition WAS changed and updated. Also a totally different USB image is made with Create recovery drive. The resulting USB has the drivers already laid out in plain English (\Sources\Drivers) Hope this helps. The Surface RT is really not a bad device
1) dism /online /get-drivers /all /format:table > C:\Driverlog.txt 2) There are Tools but they all have theire bugs. (Double Driver, Drivergrabber 2.0 beta) I recommend to go to Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\ and order/sort by date-change and save all Folders that are later than the regular windows drivers. - afterwards I also would recommend to delete all PNF files within the folders (search: extnf) - Thoose a pre-compiled INFs and MAYBE can produce some problems on new systems. (all PNFs are generated by the running Windows System) 3) Only none-inbox drivers can be removed (easily) - with dism /online /remove-driver or pnputil.exe -f -d OEMxxx.inf

Or are there stored separately? 3) What do means by "none-inbox", pls? Nokia used plain W8-1RT image and then integrated they own custom drivers. Are Nokia's drivers none-inbox?
Ahh... yes of course the tools won't work.. completely forgot about it. But anyway I recommended the another way. Inbox-drivers are special signed drivers that come with Windows and can't be removed. None-Inbox drivers (normal drivers) are named: OEMXX.inf You will see a colum in the log that says "inbox-driver: yes/no" Nokia drivers like all 3rd Party drivers that aren't shipped within Windows (Update) Packages (*.cab) are None-inbox.
If the system has KB2919355, you can use dism to export (backup) non-inbox (oem) drivers: Code: md C:\Drivers DISM /Online /Export-Driver /Destination:C:\Drivers it will basically copy drivers' folders of Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
Hi , do you have the current correct sequence for the installation of surface RT drivers (which drivers to install first etc)or better still an Image for a complete fresh installation. BR
