Hi, I use a dv7-4267cl 6GB RAM Windows 7 64-bit Yesterday I was updating my BIOS to the most current one and after it installed, it turned off and turned on again and started to do a System Bios Recovery. It first said writing new BIOS image and then continued on to say verifying new BIOS image. Then it went back again to about 50% and started to write new BIOS image again and then verify it again. After this, it said BIOS recovery failed, and the computer turned off after 13 second timer. I turned the computer on again and I had a black screen with the LED lights on and CAPS flashing. The CAPS flashed twice of course, meaning I had a corrupt BIOS. First I removed the 2gb ram from the 6gb and nothing happened, same black screen with LED lights flashing. Then I removed the 4gb ram and left the 2gb ram. Then after 40seconds, it went into recovering BIOS again. Which then repeated what happened at first. It wrote the new bios image to 100% then verified it to 100% and wrote it again starting at 50% and verified it again. At the end of this, it said BIOS recovery has failed and the timer came up again and the computer shut down. This is happening every time I turn on my computer (without the 4gb ram). Any suggestions?
My number under the battery was Rev: 1641-120. I used sp52509.exe to make my 4gb SanDisk USB UEFI. For the BIOS, as I screwed my perfectly working computer trying to update my BIOS to F.29, I used F.28 (sp52953.exe) to get 0143FF28.bin. I used 0143FF28.bin on phoneix mod v.2.19 and got RSA.SIG and 0143FF28.bin.DEC. Then I changed these file names RSA.SIG->0143FF28.SIG 0143FF28.bin.DEC->0143FF28.bin Put these on the Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current, New, and Previous. I unplugged the power cord, battery first. First of all, again from the post above, with 2gb ram, it proceeds to repeat system BIOS recovery, which keeps failing. With 4gb ram or with both 2gb and 4gb (6gb total), they both stay with black screen and CAPS flashing twice with wifi light on (orange). With HDD out and with only 2gb ram, it looked like it was reading the USB for about 4 seconds, computer turned off by itself and then turned on again by itself and this repeated. Same thing happened with HDD out and only 4gb ram in. Again same thing happened with both 4gb and 2gb in (6gb ram total). With HDD in and 2gb ram in, the computer stayed with black screen and CAPS flashing twice. Same thing with 4gb ram in. I had the computer on for about 5 minutes during this time. USB light kept flashing on and off but nothing happened during these 5 minutes. Any suggestions? I think the problem is with naming the .bin and .SIG?
It's 1641-120 I used 01641.bin and 01641.sig with the HDD out. The computer just turned on for about 6 seconds and during this time USB flashed once every second and turned off itself which kept repeating. But when I changed the 01641.bin and 01641.sig to 0143F.bin and 0143F.SIG, USB started to flash really fast and it went on to HP BIOS update. It said "The system BIOS is being recovered." After it wrote the new BIOS image and verified it, it said system BIOS recovery failed and turned off after 15 second timer.
yours fails recovery and not sure why .. my bad guess would be chipset issue or ram. try reseting CMOS battery method then retry ? try different version bios ?
Hmm...My computer was working perfectly fine until the stupid BIOS update. Could it still be fault in ram? It could possibly be the bad ram that caused the BIOS update to fail in the first place i am guessing. I will try changing the ram. Is there anyway to see if my rams, both 4gb and 2gb are good or bad? I tried the oldest and the newest bios. i took out the cmos battery for a day and tried again with no luck =/
Hmmmm....Since I've installed Windows 8.1, Should I try this? Or keep it the old way with HP_TOOLS Since this one was shipped with Windows 7? Maybe it has to do something with UEFI or Legacy boot, I think that may have also jacked up my BIOS or something....
Well, I'm starting to feel like It's a mobo issue and I won't mind fixing it. Thanks for all of your help buddy! It's getting me one step closer to fixing this thing!
Recently I bricked up my HP laptop (Pavilion G6-2006tx) after installing wrong Bios Update from HP.....After searching on Internet I came accross win+B method but after doing it still it is not reading from USB (no lights)from USB and.....It is giving single led error code which is CPU error code but It happened after bad BIOS update....can any one also tell me that is it possible that because of BIOS it is happening and giving CPU error code as CPU was working fine till that time...and while trying to flash it is not trying to read from USB.....I tried renaming to HP_TOOLS still nt working
I feel thats wrong (mine is is an hp envy 15 lap though) , just found out that HP_TOOLS has to be the partition , mine is still bricked but there is a huge difference in caps lock light when its Hp_Tools
Thank you for replying , but am still at an issue , mine is not rsa encrypted (phoenix tool says so) , cam with win8 preinstalled (very new) , when I plug in the usb with HP_TOOLS , converting the .fd to .bin and sig from the /biosupdate folder (HpBiosUpdate.sig) , in the second flash of usb ,the caps lock starts to blinks twice (like 2x___2x___2x____2x__) , if the usb have some other files or even not plugged the caps lock doesnt blink like that , just on blink (total) and stops , and the usb reading also stops at that caps lock blink and does nothing later. I dont have any beeps. Please help . Mine is an hp envy 15 j049 (2013)
And yes , the platform is mixed , mine is 1963-100 , and in platform check its there but , there are only two files 1966 and 1961.fd , so i checked platform.ini it has some lines saying which revs are for 1961 and which are 1966 , mine is according to that 01966.fd ,and what does that 0 represent too. well its 1963 thats why i used 01966.fd , well i didnt delete any partition , i added some , but didn't delete , (its a new lap u know just 2 days old) , but whats the update (EFI\hp\bios\logo ) so i have to put files in there? . The issue is i told u , it blinks twice if the usb has the bin and sig (which i do think its wrong) , but thats the only time it does something , if i put a totally wrong .bin even then it doesn't blink , and how do u boot something if there's nothing on screen , like the hiren's boot cd ? does it have some kind of efi ? , I have given the lap to service still , I wanna know how this can be recovered in future.
