    Hello,

I have reinstalled and partitiond my HP PC, now it wont activate any more with a clean install Windows 8 Pro.

But is have got the activated key from the original HP installation that i grabed with Jelly Bean keyfinder. Is this key the same as the OEM:DM key?

This key is different than the encrypted key within my bios , i have converted it to ascii.

(also cannot use both key's to activate)

    Thank you

Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder can't decode Windows 8 serials. You must use RW-Everything (free) or AIDA64 (paid).

What kinda key did Jelly Bean gave me than? (I have grabbed it from the pre activated HP installation)

Also wenn i use the "oa3tool.exe" Microsoft tool to grab the ACPI MSDM table within my fresh Windows 8 installation i cannot activate it.

Is your trich the ei.cfg file?

Or am I lost now with activating my OEM HP pc?

In fact, for Core and PRO, if you use MSDN ISO(without ei.cfg) to do a fresh install, the installation will also automatically detects your OEM key and you don't need to enter a generic key for it. last week verified by myself.

Are you sure?? Lets assume that the msdm table stores a Windows Core oem:Dm key & you install Pro edition. What happens then??

Yea, I'm sure. before I did this test case I also think it would give me a message saying the key is not correct.

If possible, I'll get it a try tomorrow...(I'm not sure If my colleague already return the core key back to factory.)

So we need to know the edition of the oem:Dm key first, then select appropriate index from the iso, isn't it??

    Thanks for the report.

Since MSDN ISO(e.g. Pro) contains both PRO(index 1) and Core(index 2) edition, thus if the laptop comes with a Pro or Core key embedded. the installation will automatically detects the appropriate index.

So I'm wondering if there is any way to check the type of the oem:Dm key?

Yea, that's right. but you need to make sure there is no ei.cfg under source folder otherwise the selection window would be displayed.
