dont forget the remove HDD when doing forced bios recovery is likely good idea to not lock HDD. dont forget to hold CTRL while pressing Enter all looks good.. tqhoang has a recovery hdr method in his sig. also if u search for schematics D630 for example u see name is BRISBANE .. so in HDR file find 3 letters of it for filename. ... find HDR in the HDR with hexeditor. keyboard difference will make a TOTAL DIFFERENCE!! Okay, It's clear contained frustration is part of life w/ a computer... Got into the laptop (Dell 6510) and bios, been trying the bootable Ophcrack for the user pswd, tried Unetbootin, Universal boot, Iso to usb, formatting the usb as FAT, changing file names from isolinux to syslinux, always the same thing: SYSLINUX 3.85 2010-02-20 CBIOS Copyright (c) 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin et al No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! boot: my Sonic cd rw doesn't work well, Im using an old Dell xp to make the usb... WHERE do I go from here ????????????? as always, Thankx in Advance!
i like to use active@ boot disk for x64 the ntpwd doesnt work ?. also if u have HDD password and need data ive used ZU.exe in dos to unlock some drives. mhdd needs to be 4.5 not 4.6 so u can run a script for WD brand hdd to read the hdd pwd. im not an expert at mhdd so dont ask me unless its WD
Thanks for your suggestions, Tito. My anti-virus company tells me this is a hardware issue so I spoke with Dell. Dell denies any hardware problem (which would be covered under my warranty) and will not help without $239 software issue fee. I have completed A, B & C, but they have not solved my BIOS problem. I am still stuck looking for a BIOS password. Do you have any other suggestions?
dell usualy helps with bios passwords if u prove youre the owner ( match their records of purchase). if they try to charge to remove a BIOS password, ask for a supervisor. i worked at dell small business support in 2006
Can anyone please help me? I've been trying for hours. I got this Dell Vostro 3555 with a HDD lock and the BIOS settings are also password locked. I'm able to boot only to HDD which is weird considering it says it's PW locked, but then Windows is password locked too. I can't boot from disk even to remove that. I tried the key gens with no success and downloaded the BIOS from dell and tried to load the .ROM & .HDR on a USB, but didn't get any red light as all mentioned so no luck forcing BIOS downgrade flash also I'm not sure about what to name the HDR file. It won't boot from any USB or DVD even with HDD removed, not sure why that is. I'd be happy to get just the setup settings unlocked. The service tag is 79BFMP1 , Express service code 15800876965, HDD S/N A6101947 , WD HDD SN WD-WXH1A6101947. Thanks!
new model... new algorithm so no generator works. ( unless u have the proper generator or $ to pay one of the few that have it on ebay) your service tag at the password screen has a -1D3B ? the hdd pwd maybe with ZU.exe (in hardware thread) the recovery likely is a wincris and .wph type with WIN B keys to initiate.
My mistake the model is actually Vostro 3550. Since I updated to the latest A11 BIOS it shows the PW screen before it'll go into BIOS setup and it just shows the service tag, no suffix. The end key and power turned PC on and it seemed to search for file to flash, but I don't know what to name the file. Thanks very much for your info and help, I will give your suggestions a shot.
that tool made it easy to find the filename DN15A11.ROM. I tried (naming the extracted .rom , .hdr and .r00 files DN15A11 and placing in root on USB and HDD then held end and plugged in) but it just gave a black screen for a minute, accessed the drives briefly, but unfortunately then just booted normally without flashing. Can you suggest anything further to try? Thanks!
