Have you tried using the Dell 2.2 Bios from the Vmware Mega Bios Pack v2? I tried it on my esxi box and it didn't give me any errors as of yet.

No idea, andyP tool will write SLIC correctly adjusting all required tables, it just does not fail

What steps did you take? I just performed a fresh install of the same 5.1 build 1065491, extracted with the 1.1.5 tool, performed the BIOS mod with PhoenixTool, then injected. Loaded up a VM, SLIC Toolkit, and it's showing "Dump Error ! (RSD PTR Not found ! )"

Edit: Nevermind. I created a new VM, and didn't get the error. I was getting the error because the VM I was running, came from an ESXi install with a bad ROM injection. I previously tried using 361H_dell_pesc3_22.rom from bigfoot, but I'm assuming it's out of date

Maybe someone can help me. I'm using ESXi 5.1 U1 and I'm tried to inject a Dell 2.2 BIOS from the Vmware Mega Bios Pack v2. When I try to extract or inject I get an error saying that there is no .bios440 in the .vmx file. Is this normal to have this missing?

I think you need to rename the dell 2.2 bios to bios440.rom and then inject it.
I just did this last week on my new esxi box and it does work.

I tried that but I'm still getting an error. I'm downloading the vmx file from the database to work locally. I am supposed to use the vmx file from the folder with the vm right? I try to inject and get the error:

"error removing .bios440 section from vmware-vmx"
    "operation failed"

I tried running as a administrator but does not help.

No. You need to patch the vmx file located in /vmfs/volumes/BigBox/tmp/vmvisor-sys/bin/ which is where-ever you installed Esxi. Use jackmonsters directions in post #341 and everything should work fine.

    Hi pantgruel and Hi sebus,

I tested both of your BIOS mods and I can tell you: It works perfectly. Many thanks for your work!!! Sorry - next time I will also provide the RWE report...

Tested it under ESXi5.5.0-1331820 and the following virtual machines: WindowsXP Pro SP3 DELL-OEM, Windows7 Ultimate DELL-OEM, Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise DELL-OEM. All operating systems stated "activated".

For all interested ESXi5.5 modder I did upload the s.v00 file with the "VMwESXi5.5.0 v3.86d Dell 2.2 SLIC SLP1.0.rom" in it. Please note, in the picture the "rename" has to be "s.v00", not only "s.00" - sorry.

    So KlaMue,

All i have to do is upload the s.v00 file to my ESXi 5.5.0,1331820 server and then install windows xp/7 dell-oem cd and it will be activated? and i don't need to use the productkey on the bottom of my laptops, yes?

or do i need to upload the s.v00 file then rename ESX55_v3.86d_bios440_Dell_SLIC22_Dell_SLP10 from sebus to bios440.rom then use the esxitool 1.1.5 to upload it to my esxi server ?

or can i just rename ESX55_v3.86d_bios440_Dell_SLIC22_Dell_SLP10 from sebus to bios440.rom then use the esxitool 1.1.5 to upload it to my esxi server ?

    Thanks

Hi, just my 2 cent, not working right, but.

    ok, the ESX55_v3.86d_bios440_Dell_SLIC22_Dell_SLP10 can activate win-xp, win-vista, win-7, win-2008/R2, win-2012 but not win-8/8.1/2012 r2.

but you will need the install product-key from bottom of your laptops to make the ones that work, work!
let me put it another way:

    1) SLP 1.0 in bios, no key in bios, *key+certificate is on re-install os CD, will activate when finish install.
    2) SLP 2.2 in bios, no key in bios, *key+certificate is on re-install os CD, will activate when finish install.
    3) SLP 3.0** in bios, key in bios, will not ask for a key. it just install pro retail, will not activate when finish install, need to do online/phone activation.

*-if you don't have the re-installation cd, you have to get the dell certificate from net and key is on the bottom of the laptops.
**-this is in the MSDMTable, not sure but only work for win-8.0?

So SLP 1 & 2 tell the install OS what brand and key to use the do offline activation
and SLP 3 tell the installing OS which product/product-type to install, which mean it does not use the brand.

So if i mod the bios to DELL with SLP 1 & 2, how do i do DELL in SLP 3?
If i need to install all 3 os for testing 8.0, 8.1, 2012 R2, how to do it for DELL in SLP 3?
Is there a generic key to put in MSDMTable to install all 3 OS, or is it just version 8.0 alone that read the MSDMTable?
i am not talking about activation, just installing.
Can we put in more than one install key in this Table in BIOS/EFI?

    Thanks

Does someone have a link to the latest (1.1.5?) version of this? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I'd like to modify the BIOS on ESXi 5.1u1 to have an SLIC for WS2008R2 activation. If there's a more recent / better method, I'm all ears. :)

    Thanks
