for example Microsoft-Windows-client-feature-Package.ESD is around 1giga of packages do i need to have it to install windows ? creating wim from packages in his WZor link, wont work if missing unnecessary package ?
Yes so far, yes dism, imagex, wimlib-imagex fails if one of ESD resources is missing You really should check this to see how the OS is built and packages are deployed Code: C:\Windows\servicing\Sessions\Sessions.xml then look into the edition main .mum to see what it contain Code: C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-ProfessionalEdition~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.14986.1000.mum
Need information - how does UUP work? Hi, Sorry to disturb you but i am interrested in getting basic informations on how Microsofts new UUP updates work and how they can be converted to a ISO-File. To begin with - i know what WIM, ESD and CAB files are and how they differ from each other. In the past, when i got a new Windows Insider Build deployed, i used a "ESD2ISO"-Batchfile to convert the INSTALL.ESD (downloaded to the c:\$Windows.~bt\Sources Folder) to a ISO-File. Now as far as i understand the improvement of UUP over the traditional way of updating your Windows build is to save the amount of data transferred to you pc. So UUP transfers a higher number of files (ESDs and CABs) but with less size then the one single ESD-file in the past by only trasferring the "difference" between the old and the new build. So my first questions are: 1.) What is the exact path of the download folder for the UUP files and is this path always the same? 2.) Are there any other files (exept ESDs and CABs) in that download Folder? 3.) What is a "Basic-Image", where or how can this image be found or produced? 4.) Has a "Basic-Image" always to be in english or can it be in a different language? 5.) If somebody has got - lets say - a Windows Insider Build x64 Pro can you produce a newer Windows Insider Build x64 Home with the UUP method? Thanks in advance for your help. TEN
UUP can be called ESD segmentation image (explained by my friend mingkuang) If you have ActionList.xml, you can use Dism++ to export them to a complete esd image.
