Your words suggest this is the SYSTEM FILES MODIFIED ERROR. I haven't seen that error reported since Version v10 (and previous). This would suggest to me that your O/S was chewed up prior to installing v8.8.1 My best guess is that you tried a previous version of WMC and installed v8.8.1 over top, or, didn't unblock the WMCv8.8.1 zip file Un-install v8.8.1 Repair the O/S Review the Readme and Workaround help files included in the v8.8.1 installation files. Make sure the v8.8.1 zip file is UNBLOCKED Try again. One "other thing".....if you downloaded the v8.8.1 from somewhere else, get the v8.8.1 from Page 1 of this thread.
Sounds like something either got deleted or corrupted beyond recognition. Have you tried a restore point like the message stated? If not, that might be a good place to start.
There's a dedicated sticky thread for this friend, the guys who post there will know how to help you. [DISCUSSION] Patch WMC to run on Windows 10 final & possible alternatives.
This is a clean install and it is my first time using 8.8.1 and I did download it from the first page. I have 4 more all with ver 12
I thought the System Files Modified Error was was eliminated as of v11 Right click your v8.8.1 zip file and look at properties. Make sure the file is Un-blocked.
yes I did install DCA and playready and also I did unblock the zip file, also after reinstalling I can see only local channels
What are you trying to install this on? Are any of the connections using Display Port (DP)? What tuner, driver, firmware?
Model: HDHR3-CC (prime) Firmware: 20161117 had some problems with this computer and had to format but is was working before with v12 as the other four that I have which process was easy and straight forward as in the other four but this time no luck. how can I find the drivers for this units ?
Model: HDHR3-CC Device driver ? how do I find it Firmware: 20161117 had to reformat hard drive so is a fresh install had four more working well with ver12 but this time no luck either way (ver12 or 8.8.1) sorry for double post
I installed the Lav filters and it didn't make any difference. Do I have to make changes to WMC for the codec to be used?
You need to make a decision. Two choices WMC or the silicondust DVR project. If you want WMC you need to go back to the old firmware 2015 August Edit Post....Delete...will remove the double.
BS. I am running WMC on Windows 10 10586 with HDHR-3CC firmware 20161117. Am able to get premium channels via Cable Card. No need to go back to 2015 firmware at all.
Has anyone tried installing this on one of those Intel compute sticks? Would like to get it to work on one of those.
Has there been any updates or changes on WMC for Windows 10 in the last few months, or is it just all troubleshooting ?? Still would love to see WMC over RDP in full screen to show softsled type thing (expand to full screen and see video play over RDP), on Windows 7 or 8.1 that does not break extenders.... As I lost WMC on WIndows 10 due to the update and Ceton tuners no longer work.... would love to do RDP so I can watch TV from my Windows 10 PC Has there been any advancement on this or are we still in the same spot... I miss the active days here Possibly, if it runs a intel based CPU (x86/x64), it should run. Atom CPUs would need to be tested but, what are you going to use for a tuner ? Do you have a driver that will work with a atom CPU ?? Watching TV is one thing but, recording would be another thing, with MicroSD storage (that is never that fast) for recording or live TV buffer...could be another bottle neck. Lots of questions but, would love to hear if someone got it to work on a PC that just plugs into a HDMI port or even someone who tried.
Thanks for eliminating 20161117 firmware as being the problem. If it can't be the firmware, what is the guys problem?
