Hi Friends! I have a little problem with an ASUS EeePC ASUS 1015BX-BLK103S. At every boot time, the machine ask to me a password... I have make a FULL dump of bios rom Winbond W25Q16BVSIG created by programmer USB CH341. BIN file can be downloaded from: mediafire.com /folder/bonplg2gbmv5m/ASUS_EEEPC I have used "UEFIExtract_0.10.6_win" to see in.... but.... I dont find everything of useful.... Can someone help me to find the correct password, or find a backdoor password to remove it?
try bios recovery different versions!! via ctrl + Home or end key.. forgot which.. and file in usb fat16 or fat32. meanwhile ill see if i can find it in that file.. might be wrong chip.. sometimes its the EC Edit: i work from home so i wont have much time till later tonight

I have format a USB Pen Drive, Filesystem FAT16 and FAT32 and saved into, firmware 403... and renamed with follows name: 1AOVZ000.ROM (I found this name in extracted bios folder - UEFIExtract - using an HEX editor) BIOS.ROM (standard name) My combination keys (using the internal Keyboard and an external usb keyboard) CTRL+HOME CTRL+END FN+B WIN+B FN+ESC WIN+ESC but at every combination key my screen become black and never start up... For reset this situation to default, I use switchs under the RAM: Once the RAM assembled, the netbook comes back to ask the usual password I tried to remove the internal battery 3.3V the incriminated chips.... the EC and the winbond The next step is your Bios file (LatinMcG) - 0604.bin I re-program the chip and then I'll let you know to you.
its ok. do usb recovery with proper filename BIOS.ROM for newer version.. ctrl home if it doesnt work ill try to edit your dump with dload.
I tried to desolder eeprom several times, but now the tracks on the MB are damaged... probably too much heat with the heat gun... Excuse me LatinMcG for my wrong job. But you are really a big help Thank you again
get fine wire and solder it to tracks.. called trace rebuild. dont desolder next time.. SOP8 test clip with wire to programmer.. plug in power to mainboard but dotn turn on when reading chip sometimes its needed to have power on mainboard.. sometimes not, others have to desolder.
Folder is now missing. I would explore this NB BIOS dump image for the unique data struct's, including the pasword location end encoding, so I do collect all the dumps I've found. If you share some dumps to the forums, it looks not good when you remove them right after your problem is solved or dropped. There are another people around who would like to explore, fix, mod and make the world better. If you don't like to support shares please attach your materials as a forum attachments. (Upd: Sorry, this forum doesn't support binary attachments. That's a problem.) I suspect you have dropped the project too soon. 'Traces' on the board often could be restored by soldering a 'short-circuit' wires. You should have read the schematics diagram to find where SPI pinouts go. It's difficult to find the right place sometimes, because modern board have a multilayer structure, but you are a human and have a brain and can use some tools like a multimeter to overcome the machine. To all. If its probably that you will be forced to solder/desolder SOIC SPI multiple times its always better to solder small wires to the traces and solder IC to them to program or try on the board. Another way to avoid 'traces' damage is to remove f-n high temperature PB-Free RoHS alloy (230C and req's 350C+ fan flow to solder which lead to the board damage soon) and use Rose alloy (100C) or at least 'generic' alloy (~180C) to solder SPI. Use good (and expensive) flux like flux plus to solder miniature details to MB. External SOIC clip is also a great solution, may be the best, but it's expensive and most probably not available in your local stores. BTW, 0604.bin, linked above is a well known BIOS Dump called 1015BX-BLK139S widely spread around the forums. This dump is for BXO version with a soldered RAM, board Revision 2.1G and equipped with an AMD C60 APU (HD6290). But BLK103S, discussed here seems to be older BX version equipped with a normal DIMM slot. Board Revision 1.1G, you can see it in the photo 1. It was, most probably, equipped with an AMD C50 APU, or may be C30 (HD6250). I don't have any BX dump images yet, only a few BXO's. I have previously compared VBIOS in the various BIOS versions and found them all are identical each other. However it seems to be some differences in the GPU config and/or another configuration differences which prevent video to start with an "empty" BIOS (image got from an OffSite) or when a config is incorrect - e.g. APU have changed to the neighbor model (C30<->C50<->C60<->C70<->E350, last 2 ones have GPU not listed in the VBIOS VID/PID). It's typical for this NB model to start with a black screen in all such cases. It has different EEPROM data layout more close to the BLK139S structure, but it have missing a small config block in the 20000h segment at all (mine contains LAN MAC), so I think it may be have combined for NB recovery before. LAN MAC 000000 problems will still be hidden unless you have connected to the ethernet cable network.
