What was the crux of the problem and how did you solve it?

I'd like to try it as well.

It is used on many BIOS for Intel boards, but didn't find a way to extract the module (EFI Unpacker doesn't work properly).

Hi, it is attached to this message.

Didn't try it yet, but I believe it won't work because the OROMs are limited to 64Kb for some reason on 'old' AwardBIOS releases.

    8.5.0.1030 has 64Kb and 8.6.0.1007 has 79.5 Kb.

Thank you! I will try to test with my IP35 Pro a bit later today and report my results.

My board did not like this ROM either, throwing a "PNP/PCI compliant BIOS not installed!" error, as well as the BIOS itself briefly throwing some white-text option ROM errors after the AHCI OROM screen. I wasn't able to read these errors since the computer went into CMOS setup right after the error message flashed.

Is it just because the newer OROMs are >64kb? What if this OROM was the last PCI OROM in the BIOS (i.e. PCI [C] for my board), or would that not matter at all?

I'd say yes, that is because of the OROM size.

The "PNP/PCI compliant BIOS not installed!" error is basically saying the OROM is invalid, 'cause only the first 64Kb of code are being loaded into memory.

We need to find and analyze the code responsible for loading the OROMs.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to do that, but I know that Gigabyte should have fixed that limitation when the RAID OROM was updated to a larger one.

It seems that only Phoenix-Award BIOSes are affected.

    Original BIOS

Need Option Rom 8.9.0.1023 or whatever works for this board. When I tried I cannot get the ROM to display, I get no Ctrl+I option when RAID is enabled.

    Cheers,
Same here on P5K-E wifi, how did you get it to work?
//I failed because of old MMtool, 3.22 works!
    I was able to put
    INTEL RAID OROM 10.1.0.1008
    in ASUS P5K-E wifi
    Looks ok.

Here's a new BIOS compilation for the abit IP35 Pro motherboard with updated Realtek PXE ROM and most BIOS revisions updated!
    abit IP35 Pro
    BIOSes:
    18 & ZZZ mod
    17 & ZZZ / XXX mods
    16 & ZZZ / XXX mods
    14 & ZZZ / XXX mods
    11
    10
See http://www.lejabeach.com/ABIT/IP35Pro/ for details of the ZZZ & XXX mods.

NOTE: I was unable to update BIOS "12" for some reason. My apologies if you require this specific BIOS. I also did not attempt to update any of the beta BIOS versions available on the aforementioned lejabeach site for rather obvious reasons (except 18 and its variants, obviously).

!!! IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH BIOS TO FLASH: Flash 18ZZZ if you have a 45nm processor, or 14ZZZ if you have a 65nm processor for best compatibility.

    Updated with:
Phoenix AHCI Option ROM 01.06.70 (08-13-2008)
    Intel RAID/AHCI Option ROM 8.5.0.1030
    JMicron JMB363 Option ROM 1.08.01
Realtek 8110SC PXE Option ROM 1.75c

Flash using a clean DOS boot floppy or a USB key. Syntax:

    flash.bat

!!! DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE. FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK! I HAVE ONLY TESTED BIOS "18ZZZ" PERSONALLY. ONCE AGAIN, FLASH OTHER BIOS VERSIONS AT YOUR OWN RISK. !!!

I highly suggest you do not use any BIOS older than 14, but I've included them for posterity. Only BIOS 18ZZZ has been personally tested by myself, but the worst thing that can happen when using an older version would be a conflict between a specific device's option ROM and the BIOS, in which case you simply flash back to the stock BIOS and report back here and I'll try to help you fix it.

Here is an example of the Realtek PXE ROM's configuration screen which is accessible after pressing Shift+F10 when prompted:

If you do not require the PXE ROM to display its "press Shift+F10 to configure..." message twice (remember, this board has two GBe LAN ports!) on startup after the Intel AHCI OROM's initialization message, please go to the CMOS setup screen, then Integrated Peripherals, then Onboard PCI Device, and set - Invoke Boot Agent to Disabled for both Network Controller 1 and Network Controller 2.

If for some reason you require one of the beta BIOSes which are available from the lejabeach website updated, please send me a PM.
