780i + 790i BIOS ARCHIVE - EVGA / XFX / Zotac - DELL SLIC v2.1 & SLP Activation

I have been asked about modded BIOS for Nvidia motherboards that use the reference 780i and 790i chipsets and I have finally found some time to make this combined Zotac, EVGA & XFX thread.

As XFX has removed public access to its UK FTP server and EVGA changed their forums (a lot of useful posts disappeared), I have decided to put of all the BIOS in my possession on this single thread - so if you want to mod a particular BIOS version go ahead .

Zotac users will have to force flash the EVGA or XFX BIOS files if they want to update from P08 on the 780i and P07 on the 790i Ultra as I simply don't have access to those boards for modding and testing.

BIOS for non-reference boards such as the EVGA FTW series and any ASUS STRIKER series are not on this page!

It is recommended to use Awardflash v8.94 to flash the BIOS from DOS, using either a floppy disk, CD or USB stick.

If you get the message, "The program file's part number does not match with your system!" then you will need to use Awardflash v8.65 to force flash the BIOS with the following switches;

awd865 YOURBIOS.BIN /py /wb /cd

Note that only the BIOS which are labelled SLIC & SLP can activate Windows, the others have not been modified.

As I don't have 2 ATI/AMD cards I have never managed to test ATI Crossfire on any Nvidia motherboard so I am unable to give any support for the HP BIOS!

The only information that I have received, is that the ATI Control Panel MUST remain installed for Crossfire to work.

There is conflicting information as to whether you can update just the driver and leave the Control Panel installed - if you test it and get it to work, let me know below .

N.B. The XFX 790i Ultra P10 BIOS is now completed and uploaded!

I have an XFX 780i board and 2xATI 5770 cards and was wondering if the BIOS can be flashed to the HP Blackbird so I can use Crossfire? AWDFlash 8.94 says the BIOS is not compatible and 8.65 hangs at "save the current BIOS" prompt. If I can get this working, it will save me from investing in an ASUS Rampage Formula x48 board so I can use the current Q9550 CPU and DDR2 ram. Any help you can provide would be awesome, thanks.

Hi ddc0806, try adding the switch /sn when you try to flash the BIOS with Awardflash v8.65, this will stop it from prompting you to save your

current BIOS i.e.

c:\awd865 P08 7B1N0P08.BIN /py /wb /cd /sn

Unfortunately I don't think the 5000 series ATI cards will work but I would also like to know for certain (if you can test it)...

You'll need the HP Blackbird Catalyst driver set to get crossfire running, I've decided to host this file also so that people may test it;

HP Blackbird ATI Catalyst Driver Package 8.7 (display driver version v8.510.0.0000) WinXP / Vista / Windows 7, 32-bit & 64-bit

The driver is unlikely to work with your 5770 but you could try adding the 5770 to the relevant inf file (CL_66630.inf = 32-bit, CH_66630.inf = 64-bit) if you know how to mod it.

It has been mentioned that you only need the Catalyst Control Centre, so you could also try just installing that and using the latest driver with it.

I have a q6600 with a gtx260 790i xfx board and 4gb of ram win7 64bit if that helps...

Hi Binksy, I still do intend to finish the XFX P10 BIOS, I have an XFX 790i board heading my way shortly.

It will most likely be completed, tested and uploaded in the next 4-5 weeks, depending on when I get the board.
