Thinking of installing a crystal hd card in an nx6330, and found this thread, which looks like a fantastic bunch of work :D

Does anyone still have a copy of HP Compaq nx6330 Notebook PC (version F.08 23-aug-2007)?
The sendspace link is now dead....

So no one have a backup copy lying around? Is there some better place to post questions like this? I was looking in the request sections, but this didn't really seem like the same kind of request i.e. it's a mod that's already been done...

Please help/advise?

Just flashed the bios using the patched Windows flasher and it worked!!! Checked it with the SLIC Toolkit and installed the key and cert and Windows 7 is activated. I also installed the Wifi Link 5100 card and it worked as well. Thank you again for your help Serge008!! :worthy:

Hi guys! It's me again..

Is there any chance of incorporating a fix for UDMA-5 (I'm using hp8710p with 2nd hdd in optical bay caddy from newmodeus) ?

If I try to manually switch to UDMA5 with hdparm -X udma5 /dev/sdb bios resets drive to mdma2 mode again, until I do this with baredit:

h t t p://i. imgur. com / zzshy . jpg

Also I need to update device configuration in windows and ONLY after that do again hdparm -X udma5 /dev/sdb.

The settings of Bar-Edit follows:
Addr1=8000F954
Val1=00001011

I've managed to solve it partially with work-around on startup but it works not always and bit weird..

Is there any chance of patching BIOS to include this value ?

I know it's not the usual task.. But you guys are genious... Maybe you could work it out please ? Thanks again for all your hard work.

Hello! Also begging for this fix. Is there any chance?

Does anyone have a SLIC 2.1 modded and whitelisted

SP34600.exe
F.21 BIOS
For the DV4xxx series?

I read on another forum that you found a BIOS with SLIC 2.1. I have tried modding my own and even found the one that a guy had on here but not the no whitelist one you are looking for but I am still getting "SLIC OEM ID/Digital signature Error!" on the BIOS and it won't activate. If you have one please let me know. LatinMcG said you got one but I can't find the post. You have a link to working one. I will look for the nowhitelist version as well and if I find it I will let you know. Thanks.

Hi,

something went wrong while updating the bios of my 2510p. I tried recovering it with usb flopy drive, but it didn't work. So i build a SPI programmer to directly flash the bios on the chip. But to do so I need a working 4 MB bios dump, preferably of version F.10.
Can anybody help me here?

<...>
Bios password issues are extremely common and often misunderstood. Part of the problem is that there is a lot of old information about exactly what a Bios, CMOS, or security chip is and how they work.

BIOS is an acronym for Basic Input Output System. The Bios is software that is programmed into a ROM, (read only memory) that runs every time your boot up a computer. Each computer has a specific set of instructions that runs upon boot up to initialize and test circuits, and low-level I/O controllers on peripherals such as hard drives, keyboards, and displays. In simple terms this firmware checks that all hardware listed is functioning and has the proper settings.

In the 80‚ s and 90‚ s, many computer manufacturers referred to the Bios as CMOS. But CMOS actually stands for the type of memory chip (complementary metal oxide semiconductor). Even today you might see the term CMOS used to describe Bios settings or configuration. So just remember that the CMOS term is describing the type of chip, and Bios refers to the firmware instruction set that resides on the memory chip.

To make matters even more confusing, in 2001 a group called the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance came up with an idea to make any computer more secure by developing a standard way to password protect access. This group is made up of several of the major manufacturers and software publisher in the industry.

IBM actually started installing a chip that adheres to the Trusted Computing Platform Specification 1.0 (which IBM developed and was accepted by the group). This new security chip can actually put a ‚ footprint‚ or some type of information on each main component on a computer. The most popular choices being the Bios, hard drive, and motherboard. This is to improve overall computer security for any computer.

Since laptops are more prone to being stolen or lost, many if not all laptops produced since 2001 have this type of security chip. When the computer boots, this security chip has software that checks each device that has this ‚ footprint‚ to see if it matches the security chip. If someone has set a password (and some security routines allow for a password on each device) then this password must be entered every time the computer boots. If the password is not correctly entered, no boot.

And if an enterprising individual takes the hard drive out and replaces it with a new one, or takes the original and places it into another machine, still no boot without a password.
If any of the three components don‚ t match, no boot.

OK, so we now know that the Bios is the firmware that runs on a CMOS chip. And that there can also be a security chip that imprints the motherboard, hard drive, and bios to make sure all three match (most common on laptops produced after 2001).

There can be a password set on the Bios or security chip (that can have passwords on all three items that are checked). So most of the password issues are not really bios passwords but security chip passwords if the computer is a laptop model.

So what do you do if you forget or lose your initial boot password? How do you reset the bios or security chip password or just remove it? What can you do if you buy a used laptop or computer and it has a bios password that you don't know, how do you reset bios password?

Well, unless you have an old desktop or a laptop that was manufactured before 2001, you can skip removing the CMOS chip battery. That won‚ t work since most are protected with the new security chip that doesn‚ t depend on a battery to hold the information.

And you don't want to clear all the Bios settings, just the password. The Bios settings can be different for every machine and unless you have a record or copy of the original settings it will be difficult to know the proper information. So clearing all the Bios information is a little risky.

The first step is to contact the manufacturer to see if there is a master password or if they have a method to bypass or replace the security chip password. Most do and some provide as a free service but many will pop you pretty hard (over $100) for removal or master password.

There are people on eBay that sell new or clear security chips that you can use to replace your current locked one. This is quite a challenge for most people but it can work. These chips sell for $65 and up depending on the brand and model. But this may involve soldering at the motherboard level, something most people would be hesitant to do.

You can also find, buy, borrow software that is designed to clear the security chip or clear the CMOS instructions from third party suppliers. It depends on the brand and model (most times for laptops more than desktops). This software does require a little effort but can be used on most of the popular brands and models. Some require some hardware work, some are strictly software solutions

...so there's another chip controlling the system, included the eeprom wich holds the BIOS in some HP notebooks, like mine a 6710b... :o

Dear moderator branches beg you not to "kick" my inattention and my English!
Looked at your links to resolve the issue with the activation SLIC2.1 on HP and found nothing. ((
In the HP 4535s, depending on the contents may have to melt Windows 7.
But those who are saved, and it was most SUSE Linux but of course people put themselves seven and activate it in different ways.
I decided to activate the marker SLIC 2.1 in the laptop, the good do not have to sew it already in BIOS from the factory is.
But in general that and plugging.
Having read disk imaging begins with ru.board, mydigitallife and decided to make a bootable flash drive and try to activate the marker, but unfortunately to no avail. Hpbi103 utility and its more recent versions Bullets team "hpbi103 write slp on" is not a ride (of course command changes depending on the version), gives a message of some sort of incompatibility, but on the basis of labeling motherboard "PIXIES-6050A2426501-MB -A03" of its base "Inventeс" and utility hpbi ... should work.
HP_DMI_Tools program in boot mode to UEFI in Bootx64.efi an error faila menu "ME-error".
Maybe someone managed to beat your prompt manipulation, many on this post Please help SLIC2.1 enable and disable whitelist!!!
Thanks in advance!

@TTAV134; I'am stuck here with almost the same situation. I own a HP Compaq 6710b notebook wich was flashed with the F.20 BIOS- version, no downgrade possible and the notebook won't let me change the BIOS in such a way that the original SLIC v2.0 table could be replaced with the SLIC v2.1 table.
Ok, today i've disassembled the notebook and soldered off the BIOS chip, in my case a 8Mbit SPI Serial Flash (SST25VF080B).
I've found out that there are also 6710b models around wich contain a 8Mbit Serial Flash chip from Atmel (AT26DF081A).
Now i've ordered off eBay a SPI programmer wich should handle both types, thus this shouldn't be a problem, reading and dumping the whole contents should -i think- be a straight foreward process.

However, and here it comes, how and where do i insert the SLIC v2.1 table or tables, i seriously and don't have a clue on where to begin... :hmm:
Is it possible to help me with this when i got my SPI programmer in here?
Thank you in advance and for your guidance so far.

Recently I've changed bios to
HP Compaq nx7300/nx7400 Notebook PC (version F.0E 27-aug-2008) whitelist removed
Bought Intel Wifi link 5300 and mounted it. After inserting the battery laptop starts, fan is running on 100%, screen is blank and the only thing I can do is turn it off by holding power button. After that power can't be switched on even if I plug in power supply. If I plug in power supply befor inserting the battery laptop runs normally and wifi card works.
The same problem I've got with Intel Wifi Link 5100.
If I use BCM 94312MCG (SPS:459263-002), which isn't probably on whitelist for this laptop, problem doesn't occur.

Hello everyone, I just joined and I thank all of you for any help you can give me.

I have the exact same problem indicated by qw0000 (except for the fact that my notebook does not start even with the battery removed).

Even my Notebook is HP Compaq NX7400 on which I installed the bios (version F.0E 27-aug-2008) whitelist removed and after the upgrade I no longer receiving the 104 error on boot.

With Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, WLan card Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN and the Intel drivers v13.4.0.139, everything works fine, with a very good connection speed of 130 MB/s (with only two antennas connected to outputs 1 and 2 and leaving output 3 not connected).

Unfortunately, the Intel 4965 does not support Windows7 hostednetwork and does not work even with VirtualRouter.

Then I tried to replace it with the Intel Wifi Link 5100AGN but with this one the notebook does not start, connecting the external power supply (but also with the battery only), the fan runs at 100%, the power LED alternately flashes amber and green and the screen remains black. Don't boot.

Please TTAV134 have you any suggestions for me?
Thanks

UPDATE

After the failure with the Intel 5100 I tried with the Intel 5300. Even with this the notebook is turned on only knows and does not boot inserting the battery, but fortunately connecting the external power supply BEFORE you insert the battery, everything works fine and the wlan card is regularly seen by Windows. Connection speeds around 130 MB/s (with a Belkin N+ router).
Now I can use Virtual Router (or enable hostednetwork) to share the 3G connection with my devices with WiFi connection only.
The only drawback is that when you are not available to an external power supply is not possible to remove the battery.

Waiting for someone to find a solution to this thanks to the author of this blog for the information shared.

goodbye

After a failed BIOS update, the best solution is to buy or replace a same model chip. If you can not achieve, you need to consider the following two methods.
Application Award BIOS motherboard has a BIOS boot block update the BIOS, this part of the boot block can not be overwritten (Boot Block Write jumper is set to Disable, select Update BIOS Including Boot Block way and not run the update), Good luck.....

I have been looking around and it seems a solution it is to downgrade the BIOS version because a conflict could be taking place, I have been told it could be a risky process and I do not know hot to do such thing, any sugg ?

Wondering if anyone can answer this, "Does all DV5-1000 series laptops use the same bios?" I requested a bios mod for DV5-1015nr and was pointed to a DV5-1000 Entertainment notebook series bios mod file. The original poster was asking for dv5-1160ew and was pointed to this same file.

I am just a little confused and do not want to flash the wrong Rom. I have searched long and hard and cannot find a file for my specific model number but have seen a number of posts all pointing to this same rom file and all for different models within this family.
So can anyone explain this to me, sorry if it a noob question.......

Please point me to the link where I can get the SLIC2.1 moded BIOS (white list removed) for the HP NC4400. I couldn't find the link in your previous post. Am I missing something?...

My computer is not accepting a new wifi card...

Thanks!

Sorry, I have just realised how to get it... Thanks afafonin!

Hi afafonin,

The BIOS for the NC4400 (sendspace _ file _ pd7hzb) doesn't seem to be "white list removed" as after updating the BIOS my computer still doesn't accept a (Intel WIFI Link 5100 model: 512AN_ MMW) card.

Please advise me if I am doing something wrong...

Thanks.

Please help!

I've been having a real problem here with this bios as it doesn't seem to be "white list removed" as the (Intel WIFI Link 5100 model: 512AN_ MMW) is not allowed.

I have made a request before but have received no reply so far...

Manufacturer: HP Compaq

Model: NC4400

BIOS type: ???

SLIC: 2.1

PS. I installed a BIOS uploaded by afafonin. However, although it is SLIC2.1, it is not allowing me to install the WIFI card above (Intel WIFI Link 5100 model: 512AN_ MMW).

Post: #1742

Is there a way of getting this wifi card to work? Or is there a "N" WIFI card alternative to the one I am trying to install that would work with the moded BIOS uploaded by afafonin?

Again, please help.

Thanks.
