Hi TTAV134,

As far as I know, the un-whitelisted BIOS is useful for specific devices made by a manufacturer other than the one(s) allowed (whitelisted).

Can we hardware-unwhitelist a port? Specifically, unwhitelist a mini pci-e WLAN so its slot/port can be used by a mini pci-e ssd? I have a HP 8510w with a un-whitelisted BIOS F.15. The system does not recognize a mini pci-e ssd put in a WLAN mini pci-e slot. Do they use different pin-outs? Or is that slot whitelisted to be used with a WLAN card only?

Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

Hi. can anyone help me with a modded bios for an old HP NC6220, the latest bios is F16 (68DTU).
I need it to be able to use a new wi-fi card TP-LINK TL-WN681N with N standard. I have put an already modded bios F13 done by the user TTAV134 and I thank him, but HP wireless assistant says that the WIFI is disabled even the wifi card it was recognised and it works. This is annoying ant the other reason is that I must keep the bluetooth ON otherwise the blue led is blinking permanently which is trully annoying. So I need a F16 bios modded for my wifi card. If anyone can help me I will provide the specific informations of my wifi mini pci card if can tell me where to find those informations. I am new on this forum and unfortunately I can't send PMs and post links with the bios which needs modded but can be find searching HP NC6220 bios. Scuse my english and thank you in advance.

HP have set a trap to get non-informed users to upgrade to the F.20 or newer bios. Those newer bios are RSA protected, meaning you can't mod then. Nor do they allow rollback to previous versions. It's a very bad example of sabotage methods use to maintain system-upgrade profits.

Now some of the HP Business notebooks like the 2510P/2530P have socketted bios chips. Meaning you can remove the bios chip and reprogram it to the older non-whitelisted pre-F.20 bios release. You'll need a bios image and a USB SPI programmer to do it. If yours isn't socketted then it would require a soldering iron to unsolder the 8pins to remove the chip. Grains bios repair in the UK might be able to supply a pre-flashed chip and/or image for you. I hope users that go to this trouble can share the pre-F.20 bios with the rest of the community so other affected users can do the same.

There is otherwise a method to overcome the *wifi* whitelisting using the DIY eGPU Setup 1.x software and isolating pin20 on the wifi card. Though it won't help with WWAN whitelisting.

so no one is doing the whitelist hacks anymore? or cant cos of the rsa patching? dammit... guess i'll have to find a hp whitelisted N class instead. I'm pissed about this.

Hi TTAV134, can you remember me? I was the tester for the HP 6735s BIOS.
Now, the HP has released a new BIOS, an F.20 version (if you want to modify it  h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=it&cc=it&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3687621&prodNameId=3687622&swEnvOID=4059&swLang=24&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-102347-1), but this one is giving me some problems (I thought it could solve other problems I have).
When I turn on my lap the caps lock blinks 2 times, this for 5 times, then blinks 6 times, this for 1 time, and then the lap goes to POST :confused:, but that blinks, on HP site (h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01732674&product=1132551#N213), means that there are a BIOS problem, but for that reason I think that the lap should not turn on :confused:.
I tried to redownload my F.0E BIOS version to downgrade but the link is down.
I found a copy of that file on my lap and I tried to flash, but HPQFlash.exe (and eRompaq.exe from DOS too) show me this error:

This is an older version of BIOS which is not compatible with your system configuration

and in the ver.log file the error seems to be:

FlashRomImage(): Write Block #9, Attempt #1 FAILED, error code = 0x15
Cannot flash block #9 because it is blocked by BIOS. dwErrCode = 0x15
FlashRomImage: Failed to write block #9 to Flash ROM. dwErrCode = 0x15
Flash Image failed: lBytesLeft = 2064384, dwOffsetLocation= 32768, bStatus = 0

Flash Rom: Cannot downgrade, BIOS blocks it - Error code = 0x15
Exit hpqFlashRom, bStatus = 0, dwErrorCode = 0x0015
FlashRom returns bStatus = 0, dwErrorCode = 0x0015
FlashRom in active mode failed, dwErrorCode = 0x0015
CCompletionFailPage: In general failure block.

Now, I read the previous post about other problems on F.20 version of BIOS.. I hope that this problem can be solved in some way, because BCD in Windows seems to have disappeared (EasyBCD doesn't find anything!!) in my case, but the system starts up anyway !!

What was the process of adding Slic 2.1 to 6715b F.07 Bios?
I mistakenly updated to the latest bios ver. F.20 before reading through this forum and now realise I cannot revert back to a previous version.
Whether I'm on the right track or not, using ADDCC i've decompressed the rom.bin and made changes to 19_FFF6CBA8_ROMBLOCK_patched_68YTT_F20.bin and 02_POST_00020100_patched_68YTT_F20.dec but now I'm guessing there's no way to compress back to rom.bin?
Any guidance will be much appreciated.

I mistakenly flashed a 6510b to the latest bios version F.20 hoping it has SLIC 2.1.
It has only slic 2.0.
I tried using FLASH_DOS_BOOT to roll back to earlier version, but it always fails at 93%.

Any help will be much appreciated.

REmove fan routine from BIOS..?!

I can't be the only one.

My HP NC4400 laptop runs very cool; could probably run without a fan at all.

I'm wondering is there any way to remove the assembly language
BIOS routine for fan operation and disable the fan/run fanless?

There's gotta be a way!

Thanks.

ed. "extract dsdt.aml then use iasl to make it a text readable .dsl .. edit it then recompile as .aml then insert into bios file with the mod tool."

HOW do i do this, am a newbie?

please somebody

Hi

Needing some help as I have 10 of these PC and was wanting Windows 7 on them.

Just wondering (hoping) if anyone has modded the HP Compaq DC 7600 BIOS to SLIC 2.1

I have looked everywhere for this and nothing, but was wondering if new tools have been made to allow this BIOS to be modded to SLIC 2.1

The latest version supports Vista so is SLIC 2.0, but have read this BIOS has no SLIC (then how does it pass vista OEM activation?)

Current BIOS Version: 2.04 Rev. A (13 Apr 2007)

Operating System(s): Microsoft Windows Vista Business (32-bit)

File name: sp35568.exe (2.3 MB)

Download from: HP sp35568.exe

Thanks for any help, Kal ...

search for that sp35568 in forum

use winphlash to make backup.rom to mod it.
if it dont work then it needs a specialist like TTAV or Yen as it is a softpaq hpqflash

or look into changing 2.0 to 2.1 in the middle of flashing in windows with HPQfFlash and a hexeditor (like HxD) editing whats running in ram.. since u have vista it has 2.0.. if it was xp it would not work easy.

Hi LatinMcG

Thanks for your quick reply.

I am new to BIOS modding, never done it before.

I am still unsure if the BIOS can be modded and if it can, how ?

I followed the like and serched for "sp35568 ", but a post in it says:

"this one is not maddable - it contains no slic"

Can you please help with the following:

1. What am I looking for in the link you posted ?

2. Can the BIOS be modded if I use Winphlash on the DC7600 machine to make a backup of the BIOS in a *.rom format ?

3. What tools do I need to add SLIC 2.1 once I have the *.rom file ?

4. How to I add SLIC 2.1 to the *.rom file ?

Thanks again, Kal

im not sure myself. all i know is that hpqflash has a strict size check. so best way was to start flashing.. but not actually flash and find the offset in HxD in Ram the hpqflash.exe running. from 2.0 to 2.1 save. then hit ok to flash..
ive never done it but saw a tutorial somewhere.

of course someone with more experience might be able to hex the hpqflash and patch it to ignore the strict checks and flashes.

the winphlash backup.bin or .rom might not work as its not a standard bios from award/ami/phoenix

Hey everybody! Thanks for your work to fix HP:s stupidity!
I have some problems with TTAV134's modded BIOS for the nx7300. (I cannot post links: .info/threads/7681-This-is-no-request-thread!-HP-COMPAQ-bioses-how-to-modify-the-bios/page29?p=111460#post111460)

I bought a new network card, in particular BCM94322MC a couple of weeks ago.
With the unpatched HP BIOS v.F0E and the new BCM chip inserted I've gotten it to start one single time, of course with the 104 error message. All the other times it wont even boot up at all. If I remove the card it starts up just like normal.
If I use USB flash (instructions from the same post linked above) to update to the whitelist removed version I can boot up 3-4 times and it works exeptionally well those 3-4 restarts. After that it goes back to the same state as if I have the unmodified version of BIOS. It just wont boot. If I remove the card I can boot the laptop without hickups and I can then reflash it to stock and then to the modified version and it works 3-4 times. And the procedure replays.
I should mention that the motherboard(?) is damaged so that there is no battery function. But I don't think that it can be related to the BIOS problem.
So does anyone have any input or experience on this issue?

Recently I've changed bios to
HP Compaq nx7300/nx7400 Notebook PC (version F.0E 27-aug-2008) whitelist removed
Bought Intel Wifi link 5300 and mounted it. After inserting the battery laptop starts, fan is running on 100%, screen is blank and the only thing I can do is turn it off by holding power button. After that power can't be switched on even if I plug in power supply.

If I plug in power supply befor inserting the battery laptop runs normally and wifi card works.

The same problem I've got with Intel Wifi Link 5100.

If I use BCM 94312MCG (SPS:459263-002), which isn't probably on whitelist for this laptop, problem doesn't occur.
