I just bought a mini PCI-e card NEC with 2 USB3 ports

I installed it in place of my 8710p but it is recognised ONLY IF
i boot with the original 4965 intel wifi mini PCI-e and hot swap it during windows 7 sleep

After hot swapping it works fine and with great speed with my external
USB3 hard disk.
I plan to connect both an internal hard disk with a usb3--> sata in the dvd-rom bay
and an external usb3 port

My problem is how to make it work without hot swapping?

I tried both 8710 unwhitelisted bios:

forum.notebookreview.com/hp-b...10p-2510p.html

and Bios from this thread:

This is no request thread! HP COMPAQ bioses, how to modify the bios?

with no success.

If I boot with the usb3 mini-pci installed the card is disabled and no
matter what i do it can not be seen from windows.(but i get NO ERRORS
during boot)

I also tried
vidock
DIY ViDock Experiences

without success

Any HELP?

Thank you

I have seen a lot of emphasis in this thread on laptops. I ask: What about the desktops? A lot of the older dell desktops have bios mods available; The tools work well for them; I did my Dimension 8300 with a slic 2.1 and with that mod it was saved from the landfill, as well as my ASUS P4P800 Deluxe.

I have an HP EVO 510 and HP 530 I'd like to modify, but I'm stumped as to the methodology. I had little trouble modding my emachines 5243 from slic 2.0 to 2.1.

I am not making a mod request for these bioses; I am more wondering about the modification methods so I might do it myself; With the tutorials and with experimentation I feel confident in modding award, ami and Phoenix bioses.

I bricked my emachine and unbricked it by doing a hotflash using uniflash and another motherboard, so advanced techniques are not unfamiliar to me.

I've been reading the postings and gathering a bit here and there but I'm still a bit in the dark.

The older HP desktops are just as common as the older Dells.

I haven't tried any of the Compaqs, but I'm guessing they are just as cantankerous.

Is there any hope for HP desktop modding?

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and I'm a little inundated with the information listed here. I was looking around, but couldn't find out if there was a version of BIOS that had the whitepapers removed already made for the following laptop

Please help,

Manufacturer: HP
Product: HP Pavilion dv2500
Model Number: DV2550se
Bios Type: Phoenix
Bios Revision: F.2E
Released: 2008-12-15

I'm having an issue with error "105 - Unsupported Broadband Network Device Detected, System Halted; Please remove device and restart Computer"
The thing is, I've removed every removable device that there is and I still get the same error... Even removed the onboard battery for a few days. I wanted to boot into Windows to see if I can re-Flash the BIOS, but I can't get past this error. I was looking for a tutorial on how to bypass the error and get into Windows, but couldn't find anything and that's when I started reading up here and thought that if the restrictive Whitepapers were removed, I'd be able to go from there. If there is a guide on how to do it, I'd be glad to attempt it all myself; I'd hate to preoccupy someone else's time if I can take care of it....
I'd appreciate any direction that you chaps could give me.

I have Compaq 8710w Mobile Workstation. So I updated official BIOS version F.0F 25-nov-2008 by modded from this thread. After this I lost fingerprint sensor. There is no more such option in BIOS. I can't enable or disable it. And fingerprint sensor no more displayed in control panel. Any suggestions?

That's all. No fingerprint.

But anyway. I was tried to apply this (not modified settings) by biosconfigutility /setconfig:bios.txt. Rebooted and no changes. Problem still occure.
I was tried flash official sp41953.exe. Rebooted. Problem still occure.
After this I flashed sp41953_SLIC21_SLPon_no_whitelist.zip and still view same problem. :-(

I flashed under Windows 7 SP1 x64 OS, if it important.

I have written a wrapper to your code, and tried it on HP 8710w BIOS. Decompression works perfect.
But If I try to compress and then decompress the BIOS parts, the results differ for some parts.
I'm going to look into it, but I'm not very good in C language, but I'll try.
If anybody is interested I can upload the parts which cause problems.

My goal is to write a full BIOS compressor so I can make changes to the Video BIOS stored in the main BIOS.

This is true. :)

When I first noticed the differences while debugging my code I thought this was a bug. I have spent some time studying them with a calculator and a piece of paper, and noticed that it was actually intended behavior. As it turned out there are two factors that influence the outcome of the packer.

The first is that HP BIOS data sections do not seem to use maximum compression. I am unsure why this is the case, perhaps it is a mere tradeoff for better compression speed for the old days. Regardless, my compression code uses maximum possible window size, which means the algorithm searches all 4096 bytes for a best match (feel free to tweak this parameter, if need arises). For this reason the size of compressed data should be equal to or slightly smaller than the size of original compressed BIOS sections.

The second factor is that this packer will search for a "history" match in reverse order as opposed to the HP packer. When it finds two or more possible candidates it selects the last one and ignores the rest... or was it the first one? I don't know, I forgot. Anyhow, the resulting compressed file will have a number of seemingly random binary differences when compared to the original BIOS section.

While these differences should in theory result in identical data after decompression, I am unable to answer whether either will pose any problems for the actual BIOS unpacker. I assumed the code will handle it just fine, but that's the reason I published the code for testing.

See ya!

How can I mod HP 8710p F.0E bios myself to SLIC2.1 ? (want to use it because F.0F is buggy (fan works all the time for unknown reason) - see http : / / forums11. itrc .hp .com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1402505)

The only solution seems to be using F.0E but it comes with SLIC 2.0 so I can't install Win7 on it.

Here is the link to the hp8710p F.0E bios ftp:/ / ftp. hp. com /pub/softpaq/sp40501-41000/sp40578.exe

Is there any sort of instructions on modifying bios to SLIC2.1 from SLIC2.0 (so far only found how to remove whitelist..).

The method in memory didn't help me also (SLIC2.0 written 2 times in the .bin)

I'm just being curious, already used a lot of tools before like (for patching phoenix/award/ami) they all went fine, if it's not that hard for you to show me how to determine these addresses it would be great. About whitelist from what I've read it's easy to modify with the ADDCCV3.
