    Default Windows Notepad Replacer

    Hi,

firstly wanna say thanks, i like this Forum very much, great Individuals here!

I created a small tool for replacing original Windows Notepad with Notepad2 or Notepad++. The Notepad2 Replacer comes with Notepad2 included.
On 64Bit systems the notepad2-x64 mod is used.
On 32Bit english systems the normal notepad2 is used.
On 32Bit german systems the notepad2 german mod is used.

The Notepad++ Replacer is a little bit different, here you need a installed Notepad++ Version or a extracted Notepad++ anywhere on your HardDisk. The Replacer replaces original Notepad with the NPPLauncher. If Notepad++ isnt in your Registry, a Dialog comes up where you must choose the Path to Notepad++ and a Registry Key is added after that.

For the both Replacer Apps: An Backup of your original Notepad is stored in Replacer\app\backup.

For Notepad2 an alternative is using the Notepad2 Mod from here. With this Version you can use Image File Execution Options. This does not replace the original Notepad, it creates an Registry Key and then forwards all notepad.exe calls to Notepad2. The nice app Process Explorer do the same when you hit Replace Task Manager. But that dont work for all Applications, with Notepad++ this is not possible at the moment.

Usage is easy, extract to anywhere, click replace.exe to replace and original.exe to restore original windows notepad. Do not click replace86/64.exe or original32/64.exe in the app directory, that is only a directory for the replacer application.

For the info: It is written in AutoIT and packed with UPX, so some Virus Scans show an false/positive

Have Fun with it. Give Feedback if you found an Error or something.

Thanks for this.... It might be useful to create an Orginal Notepad One so once they use the mod it will replace the orginal if needed....
