Hi,
is it possible to change the mainboard's mac address at BIOS level?
No replies?? I also am looking for utility to do this. I recently downgraded my bios using afudos with the /pnbc switch whcih cleared my MAC address. The MAC address that was being reported must have been an invalid one because I couldn't connect to my router even when manually setting the NIC IP in DCHP. I was able to set the MAC back to the original using the NIC driver properties advanced options. I selected the Network Address option and entered the correct address. I'm still looking for a utility to flash the correct MAC back to the BIOS. I tried a suggested program DMI236 but it didn't work with my MB. I would think since afudos is capable of erasing the MAC from the BIOS, it should be capable of writing it back.
SOLVED!! Ok, I had already tried the dmi236.exe utility posted on another forum and it didn't work. I found however that I was using the wrong command. I was using this string
dmi236.exe /o 1 "000000000000"
I then tried this string
dmi236.exe /o 1"000000000000"
without a space after the 1 and It finaly worked. It seems that you also need to be using a valid MAC address. In my case I new what my original mac was since I was using address reservation in my router.
here's a link to dmi236

Note: this is for an Asus-P5K. There are other utilities for different BIOS. If you have AMI BIOS, AFUDOS may work for your MB, it didn't for mine. You'll need a version that supports all of the switches. This is the commnd
AFUDOS /m000000000000
