Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately I must admit defeat as loading the image using iitt.exe results in an operation failed error. I think the partition/laptop/hard drive is a little messed up.

Yea, that sounds like there may be a corrupted file in the splits. if any one of the files is slightly damanged, it ruins the entire span of files.
