Activate Windows 8 [27/04/2011]:

1. close all windows
2. open Comand Prompt as admin.
3. press CTRL+SHIFT+F9 (credits to gabrielinio_julian)
4. type slmgr.vbs -ipk 6JKV2-QPB8H-RQ893-FW7TM-PBJ73 [press enter and wait]
5. type slmgr.vbs -ato [press enter and wait]

Install RedPill [30/04/2011]:

Use a clean install.
Remove watermark, new TaskMgr, Performance dashboard and new LogonUi
Download: http://www53.zippyshare.com/v/51095990/file.html
Do not touch original slc.dll file!
Replace the folowing files and dont forget to create a backup of the original files:

• C:\Windows\System32\authui.dll
• C:\Windows\System32\authui2.dll
• C:\Windows\System32\en-us\shell32.dll.mui
• C:\Windows\System32\slx.dll
• C:\Windows\System32\taskmgr.exe
• C:\Windows\System32\TaskUI.exe
• C:\Windows\System32\TM.exe
• C:\Windows\System32\uDWM.dll
• C:\Windows\System32\usercpl.dll

Caution with RedPill it could cause errors.

How to take Ownership:

First disable UAC and reboot.
Then take ownership of and gain admin rights to slc.dll in C:\windows\system32\ by right-clicking, choosing properties, go to the security tab, click advanced, click the owner tab in the new window, click edit, click on the adminsitrators group and click ok, then switch over to the permissions tab, click edit, click on the adminsitrators group and click edit, click the allow checkbox for full control, click ok, click ok, say yes to the confirmation dialog, click ok again and for the final time click ok.

Unlock new Task Manager:

Add a DWORD value "RPEnabled" with value "1" to the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Unlock Ribbon UI:

Add a String value "AppID" with value "{9198DA45-C7D5-4EFF-A726-78FC547DFF53}" to the following location:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{4F12FF5D-D319-4A79-8380-9CC80384DC08}

If location not exists create the key first.
If wanted download: megaupload.com/?d=LDHJ79EL wich is a modified explorerframe.dll with the orange placeholders taken out

Unlock Application Explorer:

Activate by adding a folder name to the following name

Applications.{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}

Unlock Full DWM:

Add a DWORD value "HideBlur" with value "1" to the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM

Then press twice "CTRL + SHIFT + F9" to activate it.

Enable Metro Login:

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts
enable touch access

Enable ugly guy with "Ctrl + Alt + Del" Welcome screen:

To get the CTRL ALT DEL-screen, press WIN + R, type control userpasswords2 and press enter.
Then check the CTRL + Alt + Del option on the second tab.

Enable / use buildin PDF Reader

Set PDF files to open with C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Windows.glcnd\glcnd.exe
Add a String value "CLSID" with value "{D3E34B21-9D75-101A-8C3D-00AA001A1652}" to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Paint\Capabilities

Create movie profile picture

Make a movie file...
Save and make it with this dimensions Width * Height 192 * 192.
Place it in this Direction: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\Default Pictures
Name it: usertileXX.ms-usertilelarge (Where XX is comes the number)
Go to: Control Panel>User Accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts>Your Look
Select your own made vid
DONE!!!

EDIT: SAVE IT AS .WMV!!! REQUIRED

Unlock Roaming options

1. Replace usercpl.dll in system32 folder.: http://www18.zippyshare.com/v/36819662/file.html
2. On User Account panel, click: Remove you passwords

Use Windows wallpaper as Lock screen

C:\Windows\Resources\Ease of Access Themes\basic.theme
Change the line that says:

SetLogonBackground=0

to

SetLogonBackground=1

Yes, but in the other thread you have to read through 50++++ pages of posts to find what spion has here in one post.

And that thread is growing by 3+ pages per hour...

No disrespect, but in a couple more days we would be into another Windows 8 build (Beyond 7955...!) by the time we could read through all the posts there...
