wolf69 looks for the roller blind when shutting down windows
Default

[QUOTE=shakeyplace;193638]I am not really an expert but I am getting quite familiar with the Dell bioses. There may be a way with the older Dells, wolf69 reports having made a bios for the Dimension 9150/XPS 400 model, if you have one I have made a rebuilt Dell flasher using the method he reported... if you have that model here it is

I installed windows 7 and it didnt activate i didnt realize that the rsdt table didnt match

what is the value of the RSDT table, that could be major because it is in a compressed section of the bios...

If you have another model I can certainly build some test bioses for you, but this is VERY EXPERIMENTAL, unless you are willing to risk a few boards I wouldn't recommend it yet.. But since you say you are willing to risk it contact me with the models and I will certainly accomodate that
I do have at least 3 Dimension 9100, not sure how different they are from 9150. I do have more, but it’s like 3-4 systems of different models.

I read http://forums.mydigitallife.info/sho...t=12962&page=3
I recall, even SLIC 2.0 -> 2.1 replacement wasn’t quite an easy due to “not known well enough” BIOS packaging (compression/encryption). And you were able to insert another ACPI module into XSDT table.
You, probably, found an empty space (fortunately not much is needed ), inserted SLIC there and corrected XSTD. I.e. we still cannot replace any module, like RAID one, right?
Not trying to diminish your work – just trying to understand what/how exactly you did it.
BTW: Do we need to move old Dell BIOS mod related stuff to another thread?

Hi, A couple of months ago this forum tried to help with my Sony VGN-C1S, and it was not do-able at the time. Will this tool be able to insert the slic and create a flashable bios.

I've read through the thread and you've all done tremendous work on this.

Regards
Gary

News: RC12

-The tool removes the Sony OEMTableId lock now (Old Phoenix structure! It are always 2 characters: One letter and one number..e.g. J6, B1) This issue we had for more than 2 years..it's now resolved. Have a look and make a new request, it's now modifiable)

-Some fixes, ACPI module location is now selectable.

Still no release date....

A shoe too large trips one up. Walking shoeless hurts anyway.
