Default ASUS Add-on sound cards

well i have an asus rampage extreme edition motherboard (ofcourse went stupid route and bought it Open box...) this means it doesnt come with "the extra's" which apparently includes the "SupremeFX X-Fi" sound card, so you have no sound at all... upon further review it would also appear as if that particular card is "keyed" to the motherboard so you cannot use any other sound card in its slot, nor can you use that soundcard in any other motherboard... seems a bit retarded to me but anyhow, my question is: does anyone know how to get this sound card or do they know for sure if there is another soundcard that is compatible with the slot...? (i've tried Supreme FX-II that came with another Asus mobo but with no luck...) any suggestions?

=============

Nice board you got there....great toy to play and overclock .If I was you, I would simply ignore the missing Supreme FX daughter board. It is NOT a Creative processor and the only thing Creative in it is the use of the X-FI Software on an ADI processor.

Get yourself an PCI Sound board on ebay or similar and have fun - you should find that for cheap and of better sound quality then the SupremeFX and find it more easily I would bet.

I have an Audigy ZS 2 from Creative and very happy with it, but will admit that I will never buy a product from them again - support and driver implementation simply terrible.

Here is something you might want to look into , and is more then likely equivalent to my Audigy 2 and 4 time less then what I paid for mine 4 years ago.

Have fun....
