Talking Windows Mobile 6.5 NOW AVAILABLE 6-OCT

Official press release from Microsoft More info here. http://spain08.deviantart.com/

NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 2009 - Microsoft today unveiled a new generation of phones from leading manufacturers and mobile operators that offer intuitive user interface, browsing the Web powerful, and access to an online library service and downloadable applications. Windows ® phones - a new brand of phones running on Microsoft Windows mobile operating system - are now available in retail stores worldwide in a wide range of styles and prices.

The new phones were showcased at press events in New York, hosted by Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division, and in Paris, where Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer showed new phones from Windows. He also announced the availability of two major platforms for new mobile services: the phone and Windows Mobile Marketplace. My phone is a free service that helps people to back up and manage photos, applications and other content from their phone or PC, and restore the information in the case of a lost phone. Windows Mobile Marketplace is an online library of business and leisure mobile applications - as well as games - that customers can purchase and download directly to their phones.

Windows phones are designed to keep people connected to your business e-mail, calendar and contacts as well as help people keep in touch with friends and family with voice, instant messaging, sharing photos and video and social networks.

The launch of the brand of your Windows marks a significant evolution in the company's wireless strategy to be merely a platform provider to offer both a large platform and end to end and experience through software options and services, including a wide range of applications and support the developer community. The mark also make it easier to find Windows phones in stores.

The new phones are available with a wide variety of styles and features, including full physical QWERTY keyboards, touch screens, or both. Windows Mobile offers more options for mobile operators and phone styles than any other mobile platform on the market. Manufacturers include Acer, HP, HTC Corp., LG Electronics, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba Corp.

The Pure HTC, for example, is designed for hand use and has a touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera, expandable memory and ambient light sensor. The HTC Tilt 2 has a high resolution 3.6-inch widescreen display and full QWERTY keyboard slides, GPS, and gravity, proximity and ambient light sensors. And the intrepid Samsung offers a slim design and a full QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen for greater flexibility, stereo Bluetooth wireless technology, a 3.0 megapixel camera and GPS technology.

One phone for work and play

Windows phones offer the familiarity of Windows software, mobile versions of Windows Live, Microsoft Office, Windows, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. People can access your work and personal email accounts, surf the web, watch a PowerPoint presentation, read a Word document or reviewing an Excel spreadsheet.

The phones come with a greater capacity to contact, including the ability to recognize a standard set of gestures, and Internet Explorer Mobile, a new and more PC-like browser that comes with support for Adobe Flash Lite for improved performance and can log into secure Web sites that users can bank online or connect to their corporate networks.

With Windows Live on their phones, users can keep track of friends through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Windows Live. You can upload photos and videos taken with the phone to a page on Facebook or MySpace, or video chats with friends. And you can access all their email accounts - Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Outlook Mobile, and more - with automatic updates do not have to continue to access cool.

My phone and Market

Microsoft supports new phones with two new services. The first Windows Mobile Marketplace is an online library of business and leisure mobile applications - like games - that customers can purchase and download directly to their phones.

The second service, the phone, allows people to sync and backup information on their phones - such as contacts, appointments, messages, pictures and videos - to a password-protected Web site. The free service is especially useful when you lose a phone, what is happening 12 million times per year in the U.S., according to surveys of Microsoft. My premium service phone can ring the phone, even set to vibrate, display a map where the phone was the last time that is synchronized with the network, remotely lock the phone if stolen, and even remotely wipe phone memory to protect personal data. If people need to replace the phone, the phone, the new phone can transfer all the data had been backed from the lost phone.

People can personalize their mobile Windows computers running Windows applications and games for mobile Marketplace. You can customize the wallpaper in the main screen with your own photos and colors or designs created by top designers like Isaac Mizrahi, then customize the home screen with widgets and plug-ins that show updates of his characters Favorite Web services, tweets, sports scores, stock quotes, news, weather, etc.

Windows phones offer more value, choice

Todd Peters, Microsoft corporate vice president of Mobile Communications Marketing Group, said the value of mobile Windows is the ability of the new phones and Windows Mobile 6.5 and on Microsoft's ability to offer mobile users a great experience, regardless of location or device. "We really have a commitment to the strategy of three screens (PC, laptop, television) and to provide grand finale to the end user experiences," he said. "With improvements in mobile hardware and hard work we are doing with Windows Mobile, we are providing end users' experiences elegant finish, and connect them to things that matter most to them."

Peters added that the depth of the positions of Microsoft's consumer offerings of the company to better serve customers. "When you look at the assets we have - ranging from Xbox to Zune to Outlook for Internet Explorer - probably the best position to provide our end users with a seamless transition between their careers and lives to play," said .

Microsoft has worked extensively with phone manufacturers to ensure that their phones were equipped to allow users to take full advantage of Windows Mobile technology. The partners of the company, it expects to deliver over 30 new phones in over 20 countries later this year, said Stephanie Ferguson, general manager of corporate experience in the business of mobile communications. "Not everyone wants the same model or the same service provider," said Ferguson. "We give people choice."

Windows phones were announced by Bach during Open Microsoft's House, an event consumer media held in Manhattan, Seventh Regiment Armory, a huge fortress like brick structure built in 1879 and now the home of a brigade of the New York Army National Guard. For the Open House, Microsoft has created spaces in the central hall of the Armory dome which reflect various aspects of our lives, including a park-like setting complete with playground and tree house. Attendees were able to test new phones and see for themselves how easy it is to multitask when you have the right tools.

"Our lives have become increasingly complex this mash-up of our personal and professional worlds, so we need a better way to connect with people we care about and easiest way to connect to the information that matters" Bach said he welcomed the Open House.

Ballmer held a simultaneous event on the campus of Microsoft in the Paris suburb of Issy-Les-Moulineaux. "These phones are just the beginning of a stream of mobile innovations that come from Microsoft and our partners," he said. "In the coming months we will see a regular drumbeat of exciting new devices from our partners and our software updates to keep pace with changing customer needs around the navigation, touch and multi-touch capability, to name a few. So stay tuned. "
