in this forums we add only SLIC table for bios.
maybe ask YEN or 911MEDIC for other change's in your bios.

Which version of the tool did you use??? The checksum has been changed - which CAN'T happen with the latest versions - since the version I had to remove. I just ran it thru the latest version (default options) and the checksum is unchanged (correctly) - and should be fine. The first mod probably caused a checksum error on an MSI board for this reason.

thanks for creating this image. I just tried to burn it on my MSI X58 platinum using AFUD4281 as you recommended. It went pretty well but after reboot I don't recognice any changes in the SLIC table entries. E.g. OEM_ID is still MSI_NB. What could went wrong? I did a look on the messages from AFUDOS tool and recognized a message "System Data Protected". Could it be that one part of my BIOS was not upgraded? I used EVEREST 5.0 to verify the Changes in the ACPI tables.

I attached a screen shot as reference.

Any help is very much appreciated.

There is a tool in their called OEMLOGO.exe. It is a windows program that allow you to load the bios.rom from here, change the logo, then flash it..

I cannot and will not guarantee the success/failure of it..But it is a place to start. I think MSI may offer a utility for this purpose also, although the logo changing is notorious for problems. Usually the ones that change the bios in use..

Another option is this, I would try it for you, but I do not have your logo..:D

Use MMTOOL to extract a module named OEM logo. It will be a .pcx image, 640x480@256color (Most likely). Replaced the OEM logo module with your own image converted to .pcx format. You can use photoshop I believe, or GIMP and IrfanView works well to do the conversion.

This is also kind of a crapshoot.

I looked at the bios from MSI and it has a slic. Flash and see if it shows in everest or ACPIscope. It may have a lock similar to dell. I doubt it though.

Before you flash though, have you checked to see if there is a slic in the bios, or have you not loaded an OS yet? :p

The slic is what allows activation of vista with the cert and serial. I have placed an MSI slic in your bios.

The SLP is what allows activation of XP with oembios files. This is where it gets complicated. The address where the string needs to be placed is occupied for msi, so I put the Hewlett-Packard string in bios to activate XP with oembios files from HP.

The reason you probably bricked the board is using a slic reference for a 1k bios and you have a 4k bios. the difference is significant.

This will activate Vista(all versions) with MSI Certificate. Any vista SLP serial will do.

Clear as mud??:D

Do you want MSI SLIC??


Yes sir, I have a MSI Motherboard,and want add a SLIC table to my bios, in order to install VISTA OEM SP1 and SP2 but I regret that since my Bios is very old, I am unable to find any update links for the same. Also when i try to go to the Update link provided in the Display Of Information by Everest, I end up reaching a site called biosagentplus.com, which updates your bios for money, i.e. it is not FREE.

If you can search on the internet for my bios, I'll be glad. Otherwise please tell me any useful link that you think will help me find my bios.

My pc is a COMPAQ PRESARIO SR1130IL, and i have a micro ATX motherboard.

The slic is what allows activation of vista with the cert and serial. I have placed an MSI slic in your bios.

The SLP is what allows activation of XP with oembios files. This is where it gets complicated. The address where the string needs to be placed is occupied for msi, so I put the Hewlett-Packard string in bios to activate XP with oembios files from HP.

The reason you probably bricked the board is using a slic reference for a 1k bios and you have a 4k bios. the difference is significant.

This will activate Vista(all versions) with MSI Certificate. Any vista SLP serial will do.

Clear as mud??:D

ok i have a hp pavillion dv8301nr laptop and i dled the latest phenoxbios which is f.54 and i cannot run it it asks me for a bior.wph, there are 2 wph files the 309b0f54 and 309b1f54 which one do i use? and whats this i am hearing about moding a bios? can someone mod this bios for me? hopefully i will get some extra options with it? i am not exactly sure what the mod does? hrere is a html link to my bios version

Afudos is included in the pack from MSI to flash. You have MSI SLIC, so use MSI cert. AFUDOS is for AMI bios..Not specific to ASUS. The flash tool is specific to the bios and Bios Manufacture, not to the manufacturer of the board.

Use the tools I have provided for you in the package you downloaded.

Have you flashed one of these (or any) modded bios before??

Yes you can do the mod with the tool and no SLP .txt. There is no MSI SLP that will work where the tool puts it. You need to stick to the SLP listed, or manually mod it..

Just use the tool, and another SLP string..:D

Verified. I used AFUWIN.exe downloaded from www.ami.com. I flashed the ROM in 32bit Windows 7, not DOS. It works perfect. This mod activated Windows 7 Ultimate. :rolleyes:

Ok thank you. I tried to mod it myself following busykids guide but when i boot up and i type in afud408... it says error cant read the file or something. Maybe i am doing something wrong?
Can it have something to do with the message poping up in AMI SLIC mod 1.28?
