Does anyone can modify the newest VMware BIOS with the SLIC2.1? I tried to do this myself, but failed.
Here's the original vmware-vmx.exe:

vmware exp is the beta version of vmware. 185517 is a subversion of VMware 7. It seems that your method no longer works since vmware 6.5.3, I've tried that.

Isn't this version only a closed beta at the moment?

I tested 6.5.3 and it works with:
bios440.filename = "SLIC_Asus.ROM" in cfg.vmx
u've done something wrong...

Prepatched bios files 4 vmware, the slic21_dell is not testet yet, only switched 20 slic against 21

The current method used for the 6.5.x builds does work with the 185517 build
Build Win7 machine with all VMware settings/files in place
Use current modded SLIC 2.1 BIOS
Copy BIOS file to guest directory
Add line to to settings file
bios440.filename = "HP-SLIC_2.1.ROM" (or whatever your filename is)
At this stage with guest will not boot
Here is the key
Delete the nvram file (VMware will recreate it)
The machine now boots and guest can be activated
Done!
