Please can anyone help me to fix what I fd.

I followed procedure YEN used.
QUOTE: I used DmiScope: Click unsorted at the bottom left, choose base board information---> data fields. Change serial number (was not set) to Hewlett and write DMI entry.

In my case my procedure was to use registered version of DmiScope:
Unsorted/
Base Board Information/Data fields/Manufacturer/Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Changed to “Hewlett”

Data fields/Serial Number/ “was blank” write “Hewlett”

Never worked so tried Hewlett-Packard in these fields.
This did not work so I thought maybe I was meant to insert the key –
Data fields/Serial Number/ MVF4D-W774K-MC4VM-QY6XY-R38TB

Bad Mistake: Now when I use DmiScope “Base Board Information” is not there, instead there is a second “BIOS Informaton” 3rd on the list were “Base Board Information” use to be.

When Selecting this, I see under Report-
BIOS Information
========================
WARNING: Invalid object length!

Under Data fields-
Offset Bits Name Byte Value Raw data
00h Type Byte oh 00h
01h Length Byte 2h 02h
If you try to Right Click Modify a message comes up “This data field is critical for the system and cannot be modified.

Under String table- Index/line No. 5 shows the Key I inserted and Under length is written 25 for this index.

Under Dump the key I inserted starts at Offset 00000020 column 5 “4D” and ends at Offset 00000040 column 2 “00”
This is all double Dutch to me and I am out of my depth. Is there any advice in laymans terms that can help me fix this, as said I cannot find a way or know how to edit this back.
Also what should I do in terms of the goal to make XP royalty/valid and what do you insert for Serial Number.

Note: I have Gigabyte GA-8S661FXM-775 (Rev 1.x) board running XPpro and followed the site instructions to make a HP PAVILION Royalty OEM OS.
I did not use a modified BIOS, SLIC I think they are called?
I Update BIOS using @BIOS and it did not fix above problem,
I cannot try Updating BIOS in DOS to see if it will fix it until I get a Floppy Disk Driver as my machine has not got one.

BTW: I used 06D652A4 “HP PAVILION” Hewlett-Packard Company BIOS files from OEMBIOS Repository.
After installing my Royalty OS made with these files I used OEMBIOS.EXE from NSFN forum.

OEMBIOS.EXE Test Results-
F:HP & Compaq OEMBIOS.CAT CRC=CD4E1902
These Royalty OEM install CD’s should preactivate <SLP> on your system.

What exactly didn't work? There are only three results: First: String was written and persists at reboot. Second: String was written, but didn't survive reboot and third: String was not written at all! The result will be always one of those three no matter what string (except it is too long).

Anyway this is no problem! What programm did you use to flash your original bios? @bios! I think you have to check to write /clear DMI area. Have a look at your flash tool to see how to enable this option. IMO you just have to check: clear dmi data pool and flash bios again.
At DOS its additional switch is /CD to Clear Dmi data.(for Awdflash)

At FLASH891 just type FLASH891 yourbios.bin /-G
When you are using the 'HP PAVILION' OEM files you have to insert the 'HP PAVILION' string instead of 'Hewlett'.

Thanks Yen.
When it comes 2 Computers it can get overwelming for me, so much to learn.

I note with DMIScope you can take snapshots of the system, very handy.

I think that your advice should put me right now but since I prepared a snapshot last night I thought I would upload it anyway along with a copy of DMIScope as a thankyou to the Site. Will put a link in the tools section 2.
