How come there is no documentation on how you do the AMI bios? It is significantly different? Do you not want to show us so that way you have to do those for us?
Post a video of you modifying the P5W DH Deluxe Bios so we can all see how it's done first hand and that way we can trust that we aren't getting a BIOS virus, because that's what I feel like everyone is getting here.
It can't be that hard for you to post a video this once, you seem to be able to modify them very quickly so just post a video of it on here. It will save you some work on your next bios modification and will make this all seem safe.

Thanks! Now I just need to find a handy-dandy Asus x64 key. :p
Yes, but are you sure the modded bios you got from here does not have a virus? Bios Viruses are veryyyy simple to make, i'm getting really suspicious about why no one can seem to modify AMI bios' but china has no problem doing it, and doing it over and over for everyone. I hope he's just that nice, but I would like to see a video or a tutorial on how to modify a P5W DH Deluxe Mobo MYSELF.

Hi shaba230. Well, Sometimes one says "hello" or "good morning" when speak to another man. Anyway I'll answer to your questions and I'll satisfy your will of knowing how mod ami bioses (like any other bios).
1) On this forum, as you've probably seen, there isn't any guide but you can find it (or them as there are many guides around) on chinese sites (search on google for vistafans).
2) I have no reason to show you how I mod bioses myself, as there could be the risk to damage your mobo, so don't you think it's better that modding procedure must be done by anyone who knows where put his own hands to manage it ??? (As said before look for google for guides on vistafans site).
3) I can't post a video simply because I haven't a videocamera or photocamera, so I can't, I'm sorry.
4) I don't need to proove to anyone that I know how modding bioses and my modded bioses are not viruses at all (why and how could you think a similar thing ???). Who do you think you are ???
So if you want to explain your idea you're free to do it, but don't spread wrong idea about modded bioses have virus inside them. This is absolutely wrong and has no sense at all.
Cheers,
China.

I can't believe anyone would possibly think china or xbioses or anyone else for that matter who's modded bios's for us is by any means doing any wrong by people who request bios's... that's insane.
They do it in their own time and get nothing for doing it except thank you's from the many people including myself who have had them do mods for us. I personally have had about 10 done and every one has worked perfectly, i even trusted them enough to flash my notebook I paid $3900 for and it was the first toshiba mod i'd seen. Of course, it worked fine.
bios virus, what a joke.

Viruses which can affect BIOS, are introduced within Windows, not the other way around.
FYI...Early versions of Windows IE.... 95,98,Me all comunicated directly with hardware, and BIOS. Older machines used to have a "Write Protect" BIOS feature which prevented certain viruses from corrupting the BIOS.
Windows 2000 and XP use a HAL (Hardware Abstract Layer), which prevents most software from comunicating directly with your hardware. This pretty much eliminated BIOS corruption from Windows born viruses.
Vista further enhances this by using a Virtual HAL and UAC, which makes it nearly impossible for any virus to corrupt the BIOS.

HELLO China,
(1) I couldn't find anything on a translated version of vistafans, please send me a link to the topic and i'll use a translator to view it in english
(2) I'm just simply stating that I can't for the life of me figure out how to view the changes that were made to your bios.
I've tried MMTools, FC in Dos, and another AMI bios tool that I can't remember the name of, but none of those helped me.
And while I do appreciate having a professional do it, I would like to do it myself. Just like on the mydigitallife.info website, when you guys have a registry file for someone to import, you include the keys on your site.
When you have an exe that modifies an existing packed exe (like for ie 7) you also include instructions on how to DIY so you can do it without the exe.
When you have a keychanger that changes your windows key for you, you also include instructions on how to change the key yourself using windows supplied tool.
I'm not saying any of those ways are easier, I'm just saying they allow the end user to feel more secure.
(3)
http://www.download.com/AviScreen-Classic/3000-2194_4-10394589.html?tag=lst-0-10
http://www.download.com/Easy-Screen-Capture-Video/3000-2194_4-10288386.html?tag=lst-0-1
are two pieces of software which record your screen activities to video files so you dont even have to waste a second typing up a tutorial, JUST go slowly, and we can all see how to mod an AMI bios.
(4)
A bios virus is hands down the hardest virus to detect, and supplying a modified bios specific for a motherboard is the best way to do such a thing, and it is actually EXTREMELY easy when suppling a bios for a particular motherboard
Most people on this board are not familiar with bios viruses, or their ease of implimentation, but they can simply
reference

So it's not something that I want to take lightly.
All I want to do is be able to modify my own P5W DH Deluxe 2004 rom file using your method, so I can clearly see what my edit is doing, and then do an FC to your file to ensure I have created the same file myself.
Again I do appreciate what you are doing for the community, but if you could simply tell me briefly what tools and what parts you're editing, I could likely figure the rest out and I would happily type up a clearer tutorial in english for AMI bios'.
Thanks, and have a good day!

I can't think of any logical reason you would be reluctant to share with us how to mod an AMI bios, you say you're doing it so we have a professional do it...but no one here is going to go through a tutorial to mod a bios that isn't careful enough to know what they're doing or how to restore a corrupted bios...and a simple warning could fix that

Ok, sorry for my aggressive tone used before, but I don't want to make any video (as I have personal informations on desktop I can't simply hide), so I can't make video. Anyway for your motherboard procedure is this.
1) Open original bios file using MMTool, replace FC module (if present) with FC asus slic and save rom file.
2) Open new saved rom file with winhex (or any other hex editor) and compare it with the original one. The only part that must be changed is that referring to FC (sometimes called AMINCBLK).
3) If everything appears similar to original one, then flash modded bios using AFUDOS, as Asus Update or Ez-Flash II doesn't flash the whole bios but only some parts.
Anyway site with info you need is http://www.vistafans.com/forum-85-1.html and there you'll find anything you want for learning modding procedures.
Have a nice day you too.

Please read my previous post. Anyway modding bioses IS ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK, and I think (and hope) this is clear for anyone.
Neither I nor Xbioses are responsable for potential damage to any motherboard, but as far as we know, our methods, based on chinese guides, are almost perfect (I said almost as in this world nothing is perfect and never will be).
Anyway, I think to have discussed too much about it, now sites and info for taking what you need for do it yourself, you already have, so enjoy yourself.

Thank you China but i have a few questions:
I downloaded the ASUS.bin from
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/03/03/slic-table-slicbin-or-acpislicbin-bios-file-for-oems-download/
How do I know what's in that .bin file? How do I know what code is being put into my FC module?
More importantly, when I do replace the FC module with that file, and i save the new rom...I compare it to the 2004c.rar that is posted on mydigitallife and it is very different ( I compared using fc from a cmd prompt)
Thank you in advance

In that bin file there is the SLIC table (you can see it with any hex editor).
It's very different because mmtool writes in its way (and it's not a proper way) when you replaced FC module, so one trick could be to edit original bios file with winhex replacing amincblk area with the modded one, saving original with that mod and then flash it, but I can't tell you (like to anyone) all things I know, because this would not have an end, as you (like other people) could continue to ask and ask again for more specific explain and so on.
So, as I told you before, and as I continue to repeat again, and this is my last reply to this topic (as you're a little off-topic), go to www.vistafans.com, use google translator or babelfish and learn yourself how mod (it's full of guides there and you could even ask to relative authors for a better knowledge).
See you.

I know you don't want to respond for this china, but WHY whyyy in the world would you tell me to use mmtools to replace the FC region when you are just going to tell me after that THIS DOESN'T WORK? I asked you how you do it, why do you feel any need to be secrative about how you do it? Are you making money from this? Noooo..it seems as though you're just doing this for the good of the community, so let someone else in the community understand how this occurs so they can help hundreds if not thousands of other people do this as well because i'll create an english tutorial.
Instead you are just beating me around the bush, telling me to do one thing, then telling me it doesn't work then telling me to do something else which you obviously know you hardly explained and would be impossible for me to follow. Thats kind of rediculous.
I hope you got a chance to read this, and sorry for the off topic once again.
And frankly I don't understand how no one else in this whole forum cares about the HUGE potential for viruses in modded bios files. There have got to be a lot of idiots running around here for no one to ever question this except for me.

Just because you're ignorant to whats going on today doesn't mean you should continue to be ignorant when someone brings something to your attention. Admit that you're wrong when you read that pdf I posted.

I'm very tired my dear "junior member" to have patience with you, but I want to give you another prove of how useless are your posts here.
You need to know (if you read or translate chinese or if you at least read any single previous page of this thread) that AMI bios modding procedure, like award or phoenix ones are not mechanically.
It's not so simple. Each bios has its own procedure and so MMTOOL can work or not (noone will tell you if it work or not, you need to try yourself).
Some bioses having FC modules inside can be modded by simple replacement of that module, others not, but you can't know "a priori" (latin language) if that bios will be modded with fc replacement or not.
If I write any single thing about what I know on modding bioses, you should write a book of one thousand pages. Anyway I decided to don't give you credit anymore. You can think what you want and I warned you one time, next time I'll ban you and you can bet I will.
So if you want to cohoperate, read chinese guides, use babelfish translation or google one and we'll speak again.
Take care,

you can just ban me because I have spent about 10 hours on that forum trying to find a tutorial for AMI bios'. I can't register with the website (probably because i'm from america and I dont use a chinese server) but I dont know...I just get this message:
您的请求来路不正确或验证字串不符,无法提交。如果您安装了某种默认屏蔽来路信息的个人防火墙 软件(如 Norton Internet Security),请设置其不要禁止来路信息后再试。
which translates to:
Your request background incorrect or inconsistent certification strings, could not be submitted. If you have some background information default shielding personal firewall software (such as Norton Internet Security), will not have its ban background information after the affirmative
So there goes any chance at being able to use a search function on those forums or being able to post, i went through about 10 pages of topic listings, actually viewing about 100 topics and none seemed to give me an information about what I am looking for. There were no sticky's that were a tutorial in any of their sub-forums.
What REALLY makes me mad though is you are sitting there saying all of this, when all you have to do is take 5 minutes, FIVE MINUTES, just to tell me how you do a P5WDH Deluxe Bios, but instead you choose to sit there and just tell me reasons why you dont want to tell me, how you will ban me, how to do it the wrong way with mmtools, why mmtools doesn't work.
WHY, why would you tell me all of this, why dont you just tell me what i asked for from my first post...how to do a P5WDH Deluxe motherboard? All the work you do for the community here, you can't do that one simple thing......
why don't you want to? Because it would be time consuming, no, because you have something to hide, Maybe? Because you just dont want to teach anyone anything...maybe, but why are you "helping" everyone out with these bios' if you dont want to teach anyone anything??
This is so rediculous, you KNOW how easy it is to put a virus in a bios, you are smart...............so WHY NOT EASE THE CONCERN OF THAT??
People that created truecrypt made it open source because thats something that would have a high potential for a virus/worm/backdoor...
Why on earth wont you make this clear for everyone? This is really hurtful.
UPDATE: Couldn't register due to google translator service, but everything else I said still stands and the fact that you wont put up a simple video or a tutorial on how to do a P5WDH Deluxe is really hurtful when someone of your intelligence KNOWS how easy it is to throw a backdoor into a bios.
shaba230
05-14-2007, 04:26 AM
What is wrong with you people........do you know how easy it is for them to throw a backdoor in your modded bios'?
Do you every ask yourselves, why are they doing this for us so quickly?
Why dont they show us how to do it so we can do it ourselves?
Why is there no tutorial that works?
Did you know that about 5 lines of code can open up a backdoor in your vista system?
Did you know that at black hat 2007 they will show bios demonstrations of this in vista?
Did you know that at black hat 2006 they did this in XP, just do a google search or check out my other posts that have the link to it.
Did you know that I have asked china4ever on a NUMBER of occasions to please just post a simple tutorial for how to do one AMI bios correctly (P5WDH Deluxe) showing me all the source code, AND HE WONT DO IT....does that tell you something?
He will sit there and mod hundreds of bioses but he wont post one single tutorial or take a video screen shot of his computer while he does it himself (that way he doesn't even have to spend any time)...but no he can't spend 5 minutes doing a P5WDH Deluxe tutorial or video but will keep posting responses to me on here....DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?
Ask yourselves this........if all of these bios modders are adding viruses to them, what would they do?
Would they be eager to help you?
Would they refuse to post a tutorial to do a particular bios modification (P5WDH Deluxe) ??
Would they send you around in circles when you ask them for information?
THAT IS WHAT IS GOING ON...STOP BEING SO **** OBLIVIOUS, all of these mods are probably infected and no one has the knowledge to publicly show us how to check OURSELVES, we're stuck TRUSTING hackers, yea that sounds smart.
(If this post gets deleted or edited for some reason that should be an even bigger sign for you, but realistically it wont be deleted or edited...you will all just ignore it or some bios modder will post a half *** tutorial of some other bios that hasn't been cracked, DO THE P5WDH Deluxe, show us you're here to help.....oh wait you wont because that would take 5 minutes)
Make donate to china4ever and i think he may be will show creating process for you =).
Moral: No one is obliged to you by anything, it doesn't please you, don't use.

@All
Hi mates, I'd like to tell you some things.
1) Modding bioses requires "non standard" procedures and even guides will not solve problems at all, as each bios has its own "story" that is, in other word, each bios must be analized and modded in different ways from previous ones. It's not like a mathematical equation in which one uses equation methods and solve it mechanically. I'd like to be clear that modding bioses IS NOT A MECHANICAL PROCESS !!!!!
2) Regarding what "shaba230" continue desperately to ask for, I can't write a guide as I don't speak english very well and I don't know how properly make things clear as I speak a "technical language" that not all users could never understand and there will never be a "universal" guide to do the job.
3) As most of you have probably noticed, some bioses, even of same brand (like award, phoenix, ami) and even using similar modding procedure, may work like not work, so it's very difficult to know "a priori" if a modded bios will certainly work or not.
4) If anyone would make its own bios, of course, he is free to do, but then forum would become a flame forum asking thousand of questions regarding a very huge amount of potential problems and not all of them can be managed.
So, at last, as I make myself experience and errors on modding bioses, if anyone want to make his own knowledge, first site is chinese vistafans.com (I learnt everything I could from it).
I must add that it's needed a basilar knowledge of what, for example, an Hex Editor is, or what is a "mark pointer" and so on. If anyone of you, reading what I'm writing, has never do a similar hack or never seen an hex editor and never edited a file or a similar thing, my honest opinion is to tell him "Avoid it !!!!".
That's all mates, I hope to not come back to this topic or discussion again.
Cheers,
China4Ever.

step (1): Get the "patched" BIOS.
step (2): Get the original BIOS.
step (3): Do a file compare (Ultra Edit will do fine) and see what they changed. If you really want to see what is changed dissasemble the file
If you do not trust it... Do not use it!
If you do trust it, flash your BIOS (as I did), and say thank you.

I think we can all agree that shaba230 has raised some valid concerns. I also think that we can agree that those of us that choose to use China4ever's hacked BIOS do so at our own risk.
China does not have to share his knowledge and procedures with anyone if he does not want to. If that makes shaba230 question his motives so be it. But shaba230, you've made your point. China said he won't do a guide for you so drop it. He's pretty clear that no amount of arguing or badgering is going to change that. Get over it or go and learn how to do it yourself.
And if we were all wrong and China suddenly takes control of all our computers, then we'll say "Gosh. shaba230 was right", and you can be the hero you so desperately seem to want to be.

shabba get off this forum. China4Ever has been more than nice. If you don't trust him or otherwise question his motives, do your own research. If he is able to find out, so are you. He even linked you to a source to learn. Even though you may need to suffer through a translator, the pictures there can and do speak for themselves. If you need to be asking what's in the FC file, and can't even open it up to look for yourself and do your own research, you have no business accusing anyone, and should just stick to buying software, because you lack the smarts to do anything else.
That said, I'm really impressed with the freedom in this forum. It's definitely not what I'm used to seeing. And to that, thumbs up to the moderators and My Digital Life. If it were most other forums, this would have gotten even more out of hand, or it would have locked up right away.
So again, wisen up shabba and do your own research if you have doubts. Then you can be a master yourself. I'm sure you've already seen http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/02/20/asus-p5b-deluxewifi-ap-motherboard-slp-20-bios-and-cert-download-for-vista-oem-activation/
edit: lol chainsore. If China is able to program 8mbit total bios to allow him to get access to my computer, then all I can do is applaud and let him take control. That'd be one hell of a feat.

It will save you some work on your next bios modification and will make this all seem safe.
waning: we have a potential retard in the thread. everyone get your safety gear and retard repellent.
<--- running Modded M2A-VM bios. works fine. been working fine for months.

No need to insult anyone. This thread is a bit old and the whole thing is just a result of lack of knowledge.

comon guys,, no need for the bad language and general abuse! It is true that a very serious point is raised. Of course it is possible that a virus/trojan/etc is place dn your modded BIOS. And it is always wise to question the unfailing diligence of people who spend valuable time providing services for 'free'. The thing is; do you let M$SFT spy on you, or take the risk that someone else does? Maybe this is too far reaching? I have a MSDN, and therfore licenses. But I choose not to activate. I still have those 10 licenses, and I dont like Vista yet. I have had over 1 year to decide instead of the 30 days. Did I do anything on my computer that would hurt me if others had those details? Well if China did put a trojan or keylogger etc in my BIOS then he has a lot of porn to surf :) YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN SECURITY! You takes your chances. Here *edit* in my country */edit* you can buy pir8 cd's with any kind of software you can mention. Some has viruses, much has not. I buy games and download the no-cd patch, often my virus scanner has much to say about these, If you are not sure, then there are many virus scanners, application firewalls and connection monitors; not to mention the router firewall logs you should be checkin. If you wanna break the rules then you need to learn how to do it.
If you just wanna pir8 in safety then your on your own!
GREETS go out to China and Xbios, THX Shaba for raising a valid point. Now lets stop flaming and get on with the serious buisiness of helpin each other and catchin out the bad guys!
P.S. the fact the links to the blackhat and Shabas posts remain, speak volumes.
I would just like to say a BIG thank you to China, Yen and the other modders for all of the fantastic help and the enormous amount of time that they have spent helping us.
Thanks again,
David.
