if u use the tool ami_slic3, its says the bios was allready had slic.
so i'm not sure if it's right modded, i can't link the bios, u got to ask to someone with better knowledge. it's better not to link a bios that is maybe no good then flash the mobo and got troubles.:)
About the M2N-X:
Sorry, didn't know that was so dangerous.
Previous version of the bios was successfully modded (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=6248&postcount=5044). Is there something different in this new release?
Tanks in advance!

I think you need to quit confusing people..he is requesting someone to mod his bios'...the links he provided is to the stock 806 ASUS Bios...not one that has been done with your so called allegations and posted for others to use. Please in the future provide links or information stating your claims..rather than being so vague. This Thread doesn't need added 'confusion'

u know what? mod it and if there's a problem u'll buy him a new mobo.

i'm not stupid enough to post a bios i'm not sure 100%.

but to tell him to ask to someone that knows more than me to mod this bios cause i'm not sure is better than post a bios that crash the machine, if u read the forum u'll find people with dead bios, i'm not sure they are really happy.
and if u're not happy it's not my problem, i don't care about how u feel , so next time stay cool. it's a better way than post that kind of things as u propose nothing more or better to help him so maybe u can just shut up.
have a nice day.

I understand your concern...just not how you explained it(maybe its a english thing)..and I took responiblity of modding my own Award Bio's (cbrom) and respect your effort to assist members of this forum...maybe Fzeven will take time to investigate what your implying and find a solution...if a SLIC Table is already present in the new 806..maybe its just a matter of mapping to the table....but believe me..if I had a AMI bio's I would be playing with the instructions Yen provided:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=378

**in fact i just played with that 806..using method 1...and though it does say a table is already present...you still get the two green lights...but flashing a bio's is a chance everyone takes....LOL (used both ASUS for the SLP(XP) and SLIC(Vista))

sorry to talked to u bad, but i felt some attack i didnt understand why.
(if my english is special its cause i'm fr)
i hope we'll get better relations next time.
and yes if i can help people it's cool cause if it was me that needed help i'll be happy to find some.
but i wonder why there's allready a slic in the bios or it's a bug from the modding prog?
the bios will probably work but it's not my mobo. i try anythings on my personnal machine but it's mine, so if i crash the bios or oc too much and break the machine it's just my prob, i can't try on some machine that is not mine.
both buttons were green but i just want to know what means this message and if it's important and need some editing to replace things at the right place.

Tanks for your advice. About this new bios with slic (i supose that the previous one hasn't), maybe it's the so-called "next step" from M$ and MoBo manufacturers, trying to make Vista activation harder. I have saw an article saying tha they are taking measures to stop this kind of "illegal" activation. Problably i'm wrong, but... who knows... :)

you might slip Fzeven a PM and ask if he has time to check..because in my opinion..alot of MB's manufacturers go ahead and just place the SLIC tables into the bio's...and thats maybe what AMI does..because with this tool you have to select both a XP and Vista SLIC..and its possible the XP's are already present and thats why you get a message that a table is already present..and all your doing is just adding the Vista SLIC and mapping to it....I played with yours and got two green lights as if it went ok....but then again leave it up to someone with more knowledge with AMI.

I'm a new member with what I think is an unusual request. I just bought a new ASUS bare bones computer: P3-p5G33: http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=1&l2=3&l3=409&l4=0&model=1798&modelmenu=1
(http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=1&l2=3&l3=409&l4=0&model=1798&modelmenu=1)
I bought it because, per the online manual, it has the P5K-VM motherboard inside.

This is a reasonably over-clockable MB in a smallish form factor. I can confirm that visually the board is a P5k_VM and even sports a while label proclaiming: "P5K-VM/P3-P5G33/DP_MB"

But, when I try to update the older v301 BIOS on the P3-P5G33 MB
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P3-P5G33
with the newer v602 of the P5K-VM BIOS
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5K-VM
using afudos, I get the very common "ROM ID is not compatible" error message. I assumed the afudos "/n" switch would fix this for me, but neither it, nor any other combination of switches nor versions of afudos.exe seems to do the trick.

Any assistance on how to get around the ROM ID check that is being performed and blocking the newer, more complete BIOS from loading is very very much appreciated.

O Thanks for pointing that out. Can you show me where to look for help then?:)

I don't know since I usually choose mobos that need such modding :-P You could try the general hardware forum. Alternatively maybe someone in some place like diy-street or xtremesystems.org although really i have no idea. I have to say tho that what you want may be difficult to implement and I'm somewhat doubtul anyone will be able to help you unless you have a backup bios or they have the board themselves since it sounds to me like something liable to result in several bad flashes before you get anything that works (if you get anything that works).

BTW have you tried softocing with A64tweaker or similar utilities?

Cheers

P.S. You did try Googling right? I presume this http://www.geocities.com/whydothis1000/modding_the_amberinem.htm and this http://www.ocworkbench.com/ocwb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/44/96.html amd http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/topic7623.html#38331 were no use?

you might slip Fzeven a PM and ask if he has time to check..because in my opinion..alot of MB's manufacturers go ahead and just place the SLIC tables into the bio's...and thats maybe what AMI does..because with this tool you have to select both a XP and Vista SLIC..and its possible the XP's are already present and thats why you get a message that a table is already present..and all your doing is just adding the Vista SLIC and mapping to it....I played with yours and got two green lights as if it went ok....but then again leave it up to someone with more knowledge with AMI.

Fzeven, could you please give us (me :)) a light on this?

@all!

Please be patience. Some of us enjoy their spare time together with the family and friends. It's New Year's Eve:);):).........

Fzeven is doing all the hard work almost alone. Additionally we are waiting for SP1 final. No one knows what will happen to the bios mods.

So please stick with your 'old' mod version and wait......Use the advanced search function or try to modify the bios by yourself.

There is probably the need to modify the bioses in another way after the release of SP1 final and all the work now would be done in vain.

THX for understanding.

Yen/Fzeve..fair enough. Also, you're right, I'd rather wait to see what SP1 final throws up before modding my Bios.
Cheers,

A mod of this bios would be appreciated:
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: Shuttle SP35P2 Pro
-Bios revision: SP35S10O
-Bios Type: AWARD
-Bios Link: http://global.shuttle.com/servlets/download?file_id=10520

This bios already have an SLIC table and replacing it or renaming it (as i read somewhere) seems a bit over my head.

TIA Mauritsius

Got a modified ACPI table (ASUS) from Yen that i used to replace the original.

+ Bios Slic: ASUS

You really should search before you ask. The modders are already overworked as it is, don't make them do stuff which has already been done. There is already a mod for this version and most other key versions of Ultra-D firmware http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?p=8103&highlight=NF4LD406#post8103

Just a note to everyone.

I have double checked and the bios for a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 for version 1 and 2 are the same.

Seeing there is now a version 1 F11 (newest) bios for the board it will also work on the version 2.

You can try a bios recovery.

1. Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a blank floppy disk. e.g. Rename 12345678.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system
3. If no floppy access occurs press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update.
4. When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk.
5. Restart the computer.

Best you try the method Fzeven described.
But I would suggest to do the recovery with an original BIOS first, and then you can flash it with a modded one, sounds more secure in this way...

And when your Board is bricked, the ASRock Support sends new BIOS Chips to you for some $, but you have to tell if its worth that for such a low budget board.

I just checked it out, both BIOS files you can download on asrock.com are the same, just with a different filename, so there must be something gone wrong during flash.

Hallo

works great, thanks for another elite bios mod ;)

Sorry, but it might work well with a dual core - but with a quadcore CPU only 3 cpu cores are available - checked both in Vista and XP.... Taskmanager, Device Manager, CPU-Z and Everest all show 3 cores...

i imagine u flash with afudos? i use version 2.07 cause it seems sometimes new versions dont allow u to erase some parts of the bios.
the modders often say to type /pbnc /n to erase the all bios.
i always try this way on ami bios and activated 2 friends pc.
worked on mine too but i got a legit vista ultimate, the result was when i came back on my legit one it was desactivated.lol.
but as now they added a robot when u phone to reactivate, it's easy and fast.
no more people to talk to.
but a keygen is a dream, cause if u have no real key first, it cant work.
hé hé my dell xps m1330 is coming tomorrow, all will be erased, and some ultimate version will be installed, hope it will work ok. except if the bios infos permit only to install home premium max, what i doubt, as u can upgrade if u want to.

Hi kite_surfeur,

there already two modded 0801 BIOS versions posted by Yen and Fzeven:

Modded Asus P5N-E SLI BIOS 0801 by Yen (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?p=11681&highlight=0801#post11681)
Modded Asus P5N-E SLI BIOS 0801 by Fzeven (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?p=12509&highlight=0801#post12509)

Both BIOS files have a different checksum, so perhaps someone (Yen or Fzeven?) could tell the difference of both versions? Probably only one of them will activate Vista correctly...

Peace,
OWhopper

Ignore this request I didn't search properly. This mod already exists!

My original request:

-Bios revision: 1201
-Bios Type: AWARD
-Bios Link: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...PV-VM/1201.zip

Hi, i tried the mod but VISTA doesnt activated successfully.
So i extracted the acpitbl.bin from the both mod and the original and they are the same.
Did I do something wrong or check the wrong files, if not,
Can someone mod this preferably with the dynamic method please.

thanks

Thank you in advance Fzeven^^

You have to download the original biosupdate for DOS.
In the archieve you find a file named 'ASRflash', put that file and the modded bios on a bootable floppy/CD.
Boot form the created floppy/CD and type at the command prompt asrflash NameOfTheModdedBios and hit enter.

Hi guys. Happy new year to everyone. I'm back only now from holidays and previously I had a lot of work to do.

Due to a mystake made by myself, I deleted any private message (inbox and sent) so I lost any previous request. I ask to anyone who still needs my help to make again requests via PM so I can continue to offer my help in this forum.

Thanks in advance and I hope you'll understand me. Sorry for my mystakes.
