Bios Revision = V1.4
Bios Type = Award BIOS
Bios Link = http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=do...1570&type=bios
As far as i know this model is correct its how I've updated, and I have same components even tho programs such as Everest has labled my model something different. So any help with anything please.
This is a older board and hence trying ISA mod which is pretty safe. I am surprised you are not seeing a SLIC. Can you post a Everest screen shot?
You can try the 0+2 mod which can be downloaded from HERE (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=64394&postcount=20237)

This is a dynamic mod with new FC module. To update the FC module you might need to flash from DOS like this:
afudos (ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/Afudos238.zip) /ixxxx.rom /pbnc /n
Please try it that way if you don't mind and let us know. If it still doesn't work it would be interesting to try same kind of mod but also replace empty slic in 1b with Asus slic to see if it that fixes it.
Thanks Zort for taking care of this. Asus changed this BIOS from the previous versions. I think this should work. Otherwise like you suggested we can try SSV3 but I doubt if it will work due to the slic in FC module.

Here is another dynamic mod like before, but empty SLIC in 1B has been replaced with Asus SLIC. Let us know if it works. If it doesn't we can use SSV3.

The big many thanks, at last have earned that! Vista activated, once again thanks... It is possible to spread this bios as the worker... :)

Per my post #20231 in this thread on Page 2024, using this mod from the All Slics thread:
D915GAG in a sony vgc-rb34g revision: 0062p: ami
slic: sony modder: Fzeven, tested by Pixelated
http://www.box.net/shared/y42f3xqo80
Dowloaded VGC-RB30 bios update from : http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGCRB30&upd_id=2219&os_id=7
Replaced sony bio file with the modded copy, placed on bootable cd and tried.
Updated bios correctly to version 62P and Everest now shows valid Sony Vaio slip ready for Vista. This update also added ability to boot from USB !!!!!
Thanks zort and original modder Fzeven.

Hello Andy,
Sorry to take so long to reply, was out of town on business and had some strange results of using this bios I needed to troubleshoot. The system is of course a TYAN S2721 MOBO and I am using it as a media server. The disk interface is a LSI Logic Megaraid-320-2 raid card running a 10 disk raid 5 array. When I loaded your bios my system was already past the grace period and for activating Vista I could not enter the commands to activate the OS. The weird thing was I could still move data off and on the server from my PC. So no big deal will do a upgrade and just enter the licensing to activate. When I would try to reinstall the OS, the system was very slow to get to the screen where it asked about the version of Vista, this would take 15 minutes. Once there it would copy the files quickly and then after 5 minutes I would get a screen stating that a file that was needed to be installed could not be found and the install would abort. I then did a CMOS clear and set the bios to boot off the raid card. Still the same result. I then installed the stock bios and was able to re-install Vista with no other issues. I wish I could have run Everest to get more information with your BIOS to help in the troubleshooting. Please let me know if you feel this Bios is not moddable. If not I have access to a newer TYAN MOBO (S5350) and maybe can try to mod this one if you feel there is a better chance for success. Lastly I want to say a BIG thank you.
Regards,
MT

One more to try for checksum:
Summary to date:
The first 4K area does not seem to be important even if it is checksummed at FFFh and CBROM damages it (2)
It seems that if there is a change in the checksummed area (10000h to EFFFDh) this is a problem even if the checksum itself at EFFFEh is correct.
It doesn't matter if it is an entire module (1 - the ISA module) or just a couple of bytes (6). Hence it is not (one assumes) changing the main or ACPI modules.
If the changed bytes are not in the checksummed area then it is OK (3)
There is a second byte at EFFFFh that in all other core 6 BIOSes is unimportant (in core 4.5 it is the decompression module checksum). I wonder if this is important. CBROM only changes it to retain the relative difference (ie if the byte pair is 01 02 in the original BIOS and it recalculates the new module+decompression checksum as 03 it sets 03 04).
Try 7 - I have changed this byte. See if it gives an error.
I have dissassembled the bootblock and found another undocumented checksum, however this is small (from EE000h for 13C6h bytes) - and is unchanged in all the BIOSes. It is present in almost all core v6 BIOSes (with different offsets/sizes). I will post how to find it sometime......

Do you have a usb flash drive? If you do then use the utility below to format it and make it bootable. (Copy anything that you need that is on the flash drive off first.)
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64963-order,4-page,1-c,peripherals/description.html
If you need dos boot files you can get them from this floppy image (extract with WinImage):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3i1tcn
After formatting the usb flash drive and making it bootable, copy all the files from Gigabyte-GA-945P-S3-F7C-ASUS-SLIC.rar to it.
Reboot and select the usb flash drive as the boot device, and it should flash automatically. If it doesn't complete for some reason you can flash the original bios with the command:
flashspi 945PS3.bak

Hi Zort,
Thanks for the effort, very much appreciated. Unfortunately it hasn't worked for me. I flashed via floppy DOS and 35% through the block writing phase the box went blank and both the hdd and dvd started spinning quite loudly. The box has not booted since, no screen info etc, just the power light and spinning drives.
I'm trying recovery methods now. Sorry to report the bad news.
PS - the BIOS files bin & bak are different sizes, I presume before and after mod? Why the size diff?

EDIT: Look the same size here too....
If the drives are spinning, can you boot and flash the backup???

Hi willko2008, I'm sorry that you had a bad flash. If it stopped at 35% while flashing then it definitely won't boot right. You'll probably have to order a new bios chip for it or RMA it. The bioses look the same size to me-- both 262,144 bytes.
willko2008

They should be the same size..
Sorry, I'm being an idiot - I was looking at the "packed" size of the two files in WinRAR! - Of course once extracted, the files are the same size. DOH!:o
getting to the mobos in these little shuttle boxes is a pain - BIOS chip looks soldered on...
It's too bad the bios is soldered in- in that case you'll probably have to rma it. It's probably not in warranty either so I expect Shuttle will charge something. The bioses are identical until 43% where oem7 slic module is. I don't think it was a problem with the mod in this case, just bad luck with the flash. There is about 5% chance of that happening. I'm sorry that happened to you!
Update: It might not be soldered in. Look here:

Thanks for the kind words - seriously. I think you're probabably right re: bad flash. I've done quite a few and this one was defo a dud. It was an old box anyway and if you gotta have a failure now and then , this was the one to go. Maybe I'll make a SAN out of it, nifty sized case ;) Thanks again for the effort and sorry I can't verify the BIOS.

Just retrieved shuttle from "soon to be binned" pile, checked again and you're right - there is a PhoenixBios D686 BIOS chip & it is removable - great! & you found an Ebay source! too kind - thanks v much!! I had checked before removing PSU and although I "saw" the chip I mistook it for soldered in the poor light - not a good showing this weekend in the "attention to detail" dept sheeeesh - I swear I am not usually this dopey...
I'll order now (2) and hopefully be flashing again in a couple of days - I'll be sure to verify for you!
Thanks again for the help - talk about going the extra mile! - I was ready & happy to chuck it :o

i have a question
if i will put my computer in my store at the mall and use it with my store tax invoice software it will be legitimate use?
i'm asking this because i see in the sticky post that this is legitimate way for activating vista and xp
Is the OEM SLP license mechanism a crack?
There is no cracking here; the OEM SLP license mechanism was created by MS and is completely legitimate.

No..It will not be legit. :D This is the legitimate way of activating, if you have legit software. If it is a pirate download, it will never be legit. But I am not tellin'. Using the OS for personal use is one thing, just dont get caught selling the products or profiting from it..that is a shitstorm I don't want to be in..:D:D

Right. I am not convinced that the second byte is important now. I found another similar BIOS (nf77 v1.6) and the difference between the two bytes there is 0Ah - just the same is in yours. ASUS does something similar (one is always F8h (I think) bigger than the other etc.).
I am slowly disassembling the main module but haven't found any culprits yet.
Another thought - try 9
http://slics4.myftp.org/9.rar
Could you also give me a memory dump of E0000 to FFFFF using RW-Everything (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/announcement.php?f=4) or similar.
Select Memory from Access menu and enter E0000. Then select Save BIN (second icon) and end address of FFFFF. Should result in a 128K BIN file.
If you could do a couple, one from 9 and one from something else.
Thanks for bearing with me, this is getting frustrating isn't it!
Andy

You buy a computer shipped with Vista, and the SLIC is present in the bios to activate, also a certificate in the OS. You do not buy vista, only the privilege to use vista. If you have bought a computer with vista home premium, it is legal to reinstall vista home premium on the computer, not ultimate; at least without paying an upgrade.
We have found a way to add the SLIC code to a bios. No loophole, just good engineering. Microsoft will NEVER give you something for free. If you install Vista, without buying it, on any computer it is piracy. If you install an upgrade without paying for it, it is piracy. If you replace the same OS you bought with the computer it is legal.
To put SLIC code in a bios that never had it, and install a downloaded copy of vista from a website, or even microsoft, without paying, adding the cert and serial and activating offline as OEM...this is piracy.
Go into business selling said computers, OS or other. Or make a profit from such software piracy, and this is a serious, serious offense. Last I knew at least 7 yrs. federal....
Got a better idea now. Keep in house, and not in your business...:D

Hi folks
I'm back after a long time posting in this forum. I have just updated my rig to a Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME rev 1.0 mobo with an i7 intel CPU and I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to mod this particular BiOS with a DELL slic for use with x86 and/or x64 version of Vista Ultimate SP2 or Premium, if same slic works for both than it's a bonus for me.
Yes I know there is one for ASUS board but I have a DELL Vista OEM Home Premium (vanilla) DVD but I want to update to Vista Ultimate SP2 (DVD is full OEM not an upgrade) which I swaped with a friend of mine one of my Vista Home Premium x86 OEM DELL DVD to a Vista Ultimate x64 SP2 OEM DVD (my friend made a mistake when ordering online). I won't be able to test this ASAP but once I do I will report back with status.
Manufacturer: Gigabyte
Model: EX58-EXTREME Rev 1.0 Dual BiOS
BIOS: EX58EX.F7
BIOS Type: Award
BIOS SLIC: DELL

Enjoy!
I have a request....again
Please put the bios .bin files in a folder and archive them. This minimizes the chance of the recipient trying to flash a corrupted file from a bad download. If the file does not extract, it cannot be flashed.
This has been requested recently a couple of times.
@For all bios uploads.........A humble request
1-The files need to be in a folder and zipped. This lessens the chance of someone trying to flash a corrupted file.
2- All factory files should be left in the folder. Most of the flash tools are bios specific. Backup bios is optional, and may add confusi9on for inexperienced users..I have downloaded and included the necessary dos flash tools not included in the file ..foxconn, biostar, and asus come to mind..:D:D
3- If a mod is made, please specify which method is used. I have been negligent of this, but I see its usefulness in TS.
Also if the mod was manual or tool modified..This is good for us to keep tabs on possible bugs..
Any opinions on these are welcome.....
The files should be in an archive with the flash tools and documents as received from factory download. Document tool or manual mod and method used for tracking and T/S purposes.
Thanks for your help with the bios' and your attention to this..:D
Any comments or ideas are welcome as well...
TIA

Was there every a mod created for the XFX 750i?
I don't see it on All Slics (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2967). I don't think it's been done yet. If you need it modded you'll need to upload it somewhere and provide the link with the request.
Hi
This one is more tricky. The normal code that is replaced is not present. I have had to use the MOV (1Ch) for the creator ID to put the SLIC address. It should be OK but consider it more risky.
Flash original, then slic'd from DOS, clear CMOS etc.

Bios is proprietary and can't be modded. If slic isn't already present then you'll need to use a bootloader like WoW (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366).
Thanks! The WoW works well on my HP nc6230 notebook!
The real thanks goes to Yen and flagmax. :)

Note: Didn't see a config lock. If it doesn't activate there might be a new kind.
Oh Thank a lot Zort, you're nice. ^^
But i could do success this morning by myself bcos i must to do my full proposal's project (My u opened 1st June and deadline proposal is tomorrow.T_T)and design my pj continue. i'm serios a lot.I'm quick.
i tried to do all day all night before until waiting your assistance.
And now my LT'os is MS windows Vista Ultimate SP2 OEM :D
I believe everybd can do it byself.
If you try, redo, search, learn and understand ^^
I tried about 80 hrs in 4 days. 55555 sleepless girl
i should be advise my step for AMIBIOS's BEGIN user by asus like me ^^
1st
>> check your slic table file in everest app so i couldn't find. let' go mod.
>> dl bios file which same your bios or new update from support asus ws
>> dl 2 times = 2 same file for save you time and safety 1st ^_^
>> when you dl finish, open file by winzip (or another compress app up to u),rename bios file .ROM and extract file to somewhere you can easy find
>> flash bios file by utility app i choose winflash from asus (very easy to use)
>> finish > reboot > access bios to set defualt > save and exit > reboot to os
2nd recovery for find surprise thing before/after (but i'm lucky)
>> 2nd i try to make usb recovery boot but didn't work
>> i prepared >>Hiren BootCD<< to boot if i found surprize thing.
>> file backup i save in usb <<< it's not useful it was my risk bcos if surprise come, i don't khow how to access usb but i though only access to dos for fix and usb recovery
before mod should kill crack same pro-modder advised
3rd step made me confuse to choose flasher = = i choosed incorrect lot times but system fined (lucky again!!)
>> do same 1 st after dl ,open file by winzip (or another compress app up to u),rename bios file .ROM and extract file to somewhere you can easy find
>> Mod tool you can find & dl from here (perfect resoure for modder)
>> Mod tool i choosed AMI SLC 3 before mod i double click MMTOOL once and start to mod bios file
>> browse your file (windows popup alert but i couldn't read - -" )click ok
>> and choose OEM vista slip , OEM XP slp check again before click go (windows popup alert again but i couldn't read - -") click ok
>> if work green sign appear 2 box Wowww
>> not same. don't work try to change your mod tool
you can mod bios file a lot times for make sure if it's lost you can dl again 24/7 so tried to mod form all tool and compare with org file
don't forget to check from base information about slic/slp table.
make sure is important
4th check check moded file make sure
>> you must check moded file data by bios tool for my amibios i choose AMIBCP (i don't sure it can use all or not)
>> easy to check open AMIBCP open your original bios file
>>>> menu file > open > choose ori bios file > menu file > choose report > write name up to you
>> and do same again with you mod file
>> exit >> choose don't save
report file have data setting bios And you can check data in file check line to line down down down down
and if your moded file have slic one line is diff
line of OEM DATA AREA above BIOS FEATURES is different text
my original file line
00 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
my moded file line
00 : 41 53 55 53 5F 46 4C 41 - 53 48 20 00 00 00 00 00 ASUS_FLASH .....
finish to mod file that i tried to do and step last flash again
i didn't sure to flash from what tool? that far away from my windows
but Asus have tool help me flash. Why don't used it?
i search inform about ez flash by asus.it's utility ,don't effect to windows and linux. I read this i choose ez flash immed.
access to ez flash on MB asus 2 ways
>> 1.reboot >> wait POST >> Press ctrl + F4
>> 2.reboot >> wait POST >> Press f2 >> advance >> Ez flash
>> into ez flash you choose up image file (my biosfile .ROM)
>> check detail same type, version bios
>> ready !!! flash
>> when finish, system'll reboot, bios setting to defualt fac
>> you must clear cmos after flash mod (same advise's pro-modder)
>> i didn't used resetbutton i used >>Hiren BootCd<< Kill Cmos snd shutdown my LT >> move dc and batt off
>> relax a moment ^^
turn on LT
access windows OK or not ?
mistake or not?
i passed ... and install windows clear type
do normal install windows wait...
and install finish let's to activate

I just found your forum yesterday and am quite impressed. I downloaded the latest versions of AMI and AWARD Bios Modifiers. I found the newest bios update for my Gigabyte Motherboard.
However, when I extract the files, I am presented with 3 files. They are (1). Flashsp1, (2). autoexec and (3). MA69VMS2.F9 files.
I put these three files into the AWARD bios modifier to add the SLIC and OEM certs to it but it does not recognize any of the files. And YES, I did rename Flashsp1 to BIOS.BIN as instructed in the Award Bios Modifier. Award Modifier will not recognize this file. So, I tried renaming all files and none are recognized by Award Bios Modifier.
I need help to modify my bios to accept SLIC and Certs. Right now I am using an OEM Emulator for Vista with SP1 but I want to add SLIC and Certs to it so that I no longer have to have an Bios Emulator.
Here is breakdown of my motherboard information:
Bios Type: Award Modular
BIOS Version F7 - The newest version is F9 - I downloaded F9 and F7.
Award BIOS Type Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Award BIOS Message AMD RS690 BIOS for GA-MA69VM-S2 F7
Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2
Download Link for Bios: http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2500
Can you please help me. And I am not well versed in some of the computer language that is used on this forum. So, please treat me with kid gloves---lol---any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The Medion is the only one made at the moment. The slic used shouldn't matter as long as you have matching cert. To redo as Dell, try Award Slic Tool (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=5385) select Dell slic and perhaps 0+2 for method. Since your current mod works it might be better to keep using it rather than make a new one. You can remake it as any slic using that tool though.

The files you downloaded that ended in .F7 and .F9 were the bios files. flashspi is the flash utility. You shouldn't have to rename anything.

If I do use face wizard, do I keep the files zipped or do I unzip them? I know these are stupid questions to you but I am still feeling myself around this modded bios stuf.

Yes, if it's possible, with dell slp too
I have bios files for this laptop with included ecs slp on it
but i haven't find any ecs slic, certificate and product key for it
I am not sure Dell SLP will work because the offset will be wrong (it inserts after the AMIBIOSC string in the 02 module which is FF200h. Dell is very picky and requires them in the FE000h range - which is taken with code. Alternative??

It's better not to flash from Windows.
If you have a usb flash drive you can format it and make it bootable with this utility:
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64963-order,4-page,1-c,peripherals/description.html
Extract the files from the .rar to it, boot to the usb flash drive, and type this command to flash the bios:
flashspi MA69VMS2.F9
If you don't want to make a bootable flash drive you can also use the bios built-in flash utility (Qflash). To do that extract the files and copy them (or at least MA69VMS2.F9) to a usb flash drive. Leave the flash drive plugged in and reboot the computer. Press the End key at the first boot screen to start Qflash.
If you've already updated it from Windows there's no need to do it again, but use one of the above methods next time ;)

So simple it's frustrating! Leave the checksum bytes as 91h 9Bh, as they are in the original. Change the byte before from FFh to whatever is needed to make the 8 bit checksum 91h still correct.
I will add to the tool. I also unticked correct MSB/LSB checksum as it appears this BIOS doesn't have one (it just damages the first two bytes - which we know from the test aren't important - but why change what isn't needed).
Glad we finally got there!

Yes, simple if you know about that checksum.....

You mean keep the original checksum bytes and set the FFh byte before that 0-EFFFFh sums to the same value 6Fh?

Thanks Zort.....I downloaded the HP Format Tool, formatted my USB flash drive and have unrared my files to the USB flash drive.
In the modded bios, I have the following files that I copied to my USB flash drive: (1). Notes, (2). MA69VMS2.F9, (3). MA69VMS2.F9.BAK, (4). Flashsp1 and (5). Asus digital license.
Please let me know if the following steps are correct:
Before flashing the bios, should I use a tool like VOATK to unistall the OEM Emulator which I presently have on my system? Anyway below are the steps for me to take as I understand it. Please let me know if these are correct or not.
1. Flash the drive by using Qflash.
2. Once the bios is updated, reinstall Windows Vista Ultimate Edition but input the Asus Product Key when asked during installation.
3. Once I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, copy the ASUS License Certificate to C-drive.
4. Use the Command Prompt with Elevated Privileges and type slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\asus.xrm-ms and wait for the prompt to let me know if the license was successfully installed.
5. After license is successfully installed, type slmgr.vbs -<Asus Vista Ultimate Product Key>.
6. Once it shows that the product key was successful installed, type slmgr.vbs -ato.
7. Reboot the computer and either go to COMPUTER - PROPERTIES or use the command prompt and type slmgr.vbs -dlv.
So, am I correct in the steps that I outlined. I may seem cautious but I tried flashing my bios once before and it rendered my motherboard dead and I had to buy new computer.
However, it is my understanding that this new gigabyte mother board (GA-MA69VM-S2) has bios recovery in case something goes wrong. I am not sure as yet of how or where to use it but I will figure it out if anything goes wrong.
Anyway, let me know if the above steps are correct or not. And thanks once more for your kindness in helping me.

Hi how to I put this into a ROM file, as I have no floppy drive
If you're going to use qflash then the only file you need on the flash drive is MA69VMS2.F9. (If you weren't using qflash then you would need to make the flash drive bootable and also copy flashspi.exe.) Having the other files there won't hurt anything.
You have the steps basically right.
If you have a bootloader like Vistaloader you should uninstall it. VOATK Tools (http://rapidshare.com/files/50368049/voatktoolsv.2.5_stand_alone.zip.html) can help remove it.
Update the bios using Qflash utility or bootable usb drive with flashspi.exe.
Install Vista, don't enter a key during installation.
Copy the cert (.xrm-ms) to c:\ and run command prompt as Administrator and install the the cert:
slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\asus.xrm-ms
Go to the system control panel and enter the product key, or run from the command prompt:
slmgr.vbs -ipk <new product key>
After doing that you should be activated.

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64963-order,4-page,1-c,peripherals/description.html
You can get dos boot files from here (extract with winimage):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3i1tcn
After formatting it copy the bios file and afudos.exe to it and boot to the drive and run afudos to update it.

Great work!!!
Yes, simple if you know about that checksum.....
I'm not up to date regarding Award....
You mean keep the original checksum bytes and set the FFh byte before that 0-EFFFFh sums to the same value 6Fh?
I have written a summary on Award checksums here - http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=65306&postcount=113
v1.03 of the tool now recognises and deals with EVGA BIOSes.
Enjoy!

Thanks Zort for your help and patience.....I am backing up all my data now and will hopefully flash my bios by tonight. I am going to first flash the bios using the real bios update before flashing it with the modded version. Or does it matter?

You can enter the key on install if you want. It is really up to you. All it does is remove one command you have to type, and start install of the version the serial is for. :D
Choice is yours, either way will work..

Zort will say yes, and I say it doesn't matter. Maybe he is more right, but I have had few problems in quite a few mods...I say it is only important in beta bios and newer ones, only to be sure the bios is sound..;)
I say the fewer flashes the better. Each one is a chance for failure..
Be sure to clear cmos and load defaults regardless which you do.:D

You can either do it with jumpers on the board (consult your manual), or take the battery out for 15 minutes or so. Either way you need to unplug the machine first...

FC module has been updated with Asus slic, but there is another slic in 1B that's empty. There's a chance it won't activate but it doesn't hurt to try it. Let us know how it goes! If it doesn't activate we can update the slic in 1B as well.
Will do, :-) thanks
I am hoping to have the PC here by monday, so Ill test and let you know.
Ps - One thing I was a little hesitant about is the bios chip on this boardr is not like any others I have seen. its not a socketed QFPP package like I am used to seeing, and that can be hot swapped incase of emergency. Infact I am not even really sure what chip on the board contans the actual BIOS. From what I can tell reading the manual, etc.. the 8mb flash eeprom is on the 8pin dip socket ic, and then there is more setup info on other ic's on the board.
If anyone else has a similar BIOS I would be interested in knowing what are the real recovery options incase of disaster? The fact that there is the ASUS crash free bios recovery built in is my best comfort, because if something is wrong then it is supposed to automatically start and search for a new bios to flash. well any how I am determined to add slp and slic into this bios :-) so ill post results when i can try it. and thanks :D

Medic:
So, let me make sure that I understand the procedure.
1. Flash the Bios and then enter bios and set default values.
2. Next, do not enter into your desktop but shut down the computer and pull the power cord. Then remove the CMOS battery for about 2 minutes and replace it. This will clear CMOS, but what does it clear? Does it clear out my bios that I just flashed? I am sorry for asking these dumb questions.
3. Next, is to plug in the battery and power cord and boot the machine to the desktop.
4. Or, do I boot back into the BIOS Setup and set default values once again....
Please, I need clarification on these steps before I attempt any flashing of the bios.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Flash the Bios (enter bios and set default values - no need)
shut down PC, unplug power cord (very important), take out battery, wait..... 5-15min
put battery back, plug power cord, boot PC, enter BIOS setup.
edit BIOS settings, eg time, day, yr, HD, boot sequence.....etc

I did not use @Flash but used QFLASH which is a DOS program and no, I did not clear out the CMOS because my manual said that the QFLASH automatically updates the files in CMOS and there was no need to clear CMOS.
Ok, I just downloaded, extracted and installed files to make my USB flash utility to be bootable from DOS and I am going to attempt to flash my bios in that manner. And this time, I will clear out CMOS as you suggested.
What are the commands that I need to use in DOS to flash my bios?

This, or there has to be a jumper on the board. Look in the manual on the jumper schematic and see where it is. Unplug the computer and do as it says in the manual. Either remove the jumper, or move it to cover different pins.
I can help you later, I am busy now and cant download the manual. Give me a link.. You should know how to do this anyway..its good practice..:D

I have tried several ways of flashing the bios with the modded version and it says that it flashed successfully but when I get back to the desktop, it shows in Everest that no change took place and it is at the original settings before the flashing of the bios. Even the bios version is still at F7 when it should be F9.
After each flash, I did what was instructed and shut down the computer, remove the power cord and remove the CMOS battery as was instructed in my manual. There is no jumpers for this model of gigabyte according to the manual.
Is there another way of modding my system? Perhaps a DELL SLIC or something.
My mother board is gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 and the present bios is F7 but the newest version of bios is F9 and the link from which to download the F9 bios update is:

This bios update can be found at the following page: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2500
Thanks for any help which you can provide.

I want to thank both Zort and Medic for all the help of which you bestowed on me and I thank you.....I never thought I would see the day where I could change up my bios to accept OEM versions....
Thank you both for all your help....I am officially validated by Microsoft with all the updates.
Thanks.

I could not have done without you and Medic....I don't understand why that first modded bios did not work for you gave me basically the same thing but this one worked and the other did not.
Anyway, I want to help on this board if I can....just let me know.

It was the same bios. I don't know why it didn't work the first time. Maybe clearing cmos helped.

It was the same bios. I don't know why it didn't work the first time. Maybe clearing cmos helped.
I noticed something when I first installed the real bios update before installing the modded one. I had to unzip the files to my USB Flash drive and they appeared to work. However when I copied and pasted the files to the USB Flash Drive, they would not work.
Your last modded bios let me unzip the files directly into the USB Flash Drive without a folder involved whereas the first modded bios unzipped with a folder involved.
When I unzipped them directly to the USB Flash Drive without the folder, my computer recognized it...when I unzipped it with the folder and copied and pasted the contents of the folder to my USB Flash Drive, my computer would not recognize it..that may seem strange but that was the only way I could get it to work. However, when I unzipped the files without the folder, it accepted it....anyway, I still hold to my promise to be of any assistance to this forum if you will allow me...thanks again Zort and Medic...you 2 are most kind.

Insyde bios can't be modded. It could have Acer slic already, but if not you'll need to use a bootloader like WoW (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366).

Sorry Andy, confirmed that modded bios "NOT WORKING"
It's bricked my laptop again
(fortunately The ECS G320 has socketed bios ic, makes me easier to hot swap)
Sorry about that. I have checked the mod again and it looks 'fine'. It is probably the way I did the code alterations, but that was always a guess. I will have another look.
Andy

Glad to note that my mod was NOT the cause of your A8N SLI Premium's death!
Anyway, please try this:
ECS 8100VM-M5
Bios revision: 59521
SLP: "Dell System" and "Hewlett-Packard"
Bios type: AMI
http://slics2.myftp.org/ECS-8100VM-M5-78M59521-DELL-SLIC.rar (Updated to add the correct SLP string for Hewlett-Packard)
SLIC: DELL
SLP: Dell/HP
Report back please :D
Apologies for the delay. Had a nightmare installing the new mobo due to having to slipstream the RAID drivers with the OS, then I was away.
Anyhow, bios installed without error, however the DELL WHS OEM doesn't seem to have picked up the SLP. I've tried it twice (just incase) and immediately sshutdown, cleared the CMOS and loaded defaults into the bios. No joy :(
