Wow that was impressively quick.
Flashed and booted.
I can't 100% verify it because I'm on Win7 right now but the SLIC shows in Everest so it should work.

Yes, the mod was done using 1.11 version of Andy's AMI tool. Close to being bullet proof now :D

This is EFI bios so can't be modded (no tools). If slic isn't already present you'll need to use a bootloader like WoW (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366).

when doing the "then install with this command
slmgr.vbs ilc c:\hp.xrm-ms" i get error 0x800706BA connecting to ILC server...
how can i fix this?

BTW after installing the slic bios i keep getting bios checksum error... how may i fix this?

Maybe this???

slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\hp.xrm-ms

Be sure to run the command prompt as admin. :D

I used Andyp's great tool posted here http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=47250&postcount=1 it is easy to use just wish more peeps would use this take a lot of the work off the Bios Modders:)

This is the only place that I have found which posts the newest bios for this board and many more... Also I have heard I can still the SLIC with Win7, if true do I just use the ASUS Ultimate Key and cert?

Apparently,and this is hypothesis, Win 7 store the slic info on install and compares from time to time. If you have no slic when you install, it will never appear legit. You need to be sure to slic the bios before installing win 7; at least until we find out how and where this comparison is stored...

Since my motherboard has a maximum for ratio cmos setting , I want to
know if this feature can be free of change.

I mean I can only change the multiplier from 6 minimun to 10 maximum.
but I want to change it to 17 the multiplier, but it says
Ratios Status: Unlocked (min: 6, max: 10)
and I had two Unlocked CPUS ES.

I guess you have to flash from windows. If the bios will flash, it will allow for as close to factory SLIC as you can get.

Glad you got both XP & Vista activated. MSI didn't put the FUJITSU in there for the purpose of slp activation but that's a positive side effect of it being there. I think I've seen Hewlett in an Asus bios also. Sometimes we get lucky with extra names!

We had issues with older versions of this bios. I've been using a NF72v15 slic since August 2008. Vista works great but I am unable to save my motherboard settings. I am hoping with this new release I will get lucky and no longer have to do this.

I would be very pleased if someone would create a flawless SLIC!

Note: To get access to the files on this ISO, simply open with power ISO (or similar program) and "save boot information" to a .BIF file. Open the .BIF file with the same program, and then extract the files.

Just tryed the original bios without MOD,
Wow its also slow, so I guess my own mod version worked.

But I will not recomend to use F4 its slow as hell, I used about 1min b4 windows is starting to boot.

Bios is proprietary and can't be modded. If SLIC isn't already present then you'll need to use a bootloader like WoW (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366).

After extensive testing, I am not able to flash using your bios file. I get the message: "Error: BIOS does not support AFU."

After phoning the manufacturers over at EVGA - they told me they accidentally put the file on their website and there is no update at this time.
This BIOS is not relevant and thus I must apologize for wasting your time. The current newest bios file for this board is the NF72 (which is now missing from their site).

Your NF72 uses Award bios and NF70 was AMI bios-- that's why you got the "AFU" error message. There are different ways the Award bios can be modded. The SSV3 mod for NF72 that 911medic posted is worth trying!

The mod in the .ISO that you uploaded is SSV2 for Award-- I haven't seen that work before! For Award we always put SLIC in a module. I guess the area where the SLIC was put gets flashed too.

This mod works the same way as the one I was using. It is activated, but it gives me the CMOS Checksum Error, preventing my bios settings to be saved.

The good news is that my computer still works :P

Your replacement motherboard probably just has an older version bios. I would update to the original 3.17, load setup defaults, and then try one of these:

Maybe a Pubkey/marker with the slic already in the ACPITBL..

AWDFLASH.EXE bios.bin sn/py/cc/cd/cp/LD

The /LD destroys any checksum that may be stored..maybe this is a fix??

I tried using the Automatic method for another board XFX 630i and was successfully in bricking it, luckily the board was under warranty

So if you could also let me know the procedure that was followed so that I could mod it in the future

I assume you have cleared/reset CMOS after flashing (ie. clear CMOS button if there is one, otherwise battery out and jumper etc..)?

I used: AWDFL882.exe nf72v15.bin /py /sn /f /cc /cp /cd /ld

Adding ld requires you to not need to hit f1, but only the first time after the flash. If you reboot twice you are still stuck pressing F1.

Hi, 911 Medic, I FINALLY installed this motherboard and I flashed the bios you did for me. Unfortunately, it didn't work, it flashes fine and reboots, the logos are perfect, but it won't boot to any device, it just hangs the computer and I need to do a hard reset. I read somewhere that the F1 bios is hard to get working. They just updated the bios to F2d. Can you try it for me? I'll get back to you asap since the motherboard is now installed in the case. I'm really sorry it took so long for me to test it, I've been kind of busy with work. :(

Hey zort, when you get the chance could you checkout this bios. The last bios asus had a bug where you had to reboot the computer several times after being shut off for it to boot. They fixed it with this update.

There is no NF72v15 BIOS in existence currently (that we know of), that has both a working SLIC and no errors.

It was probably an error in the download. (That's why it's good if people who upload bioses put them in a zip or rar archive. Then if there's an error in the download people will find out when they extract it, not when they flash!)

Did you use the switch to clear cmos and all the other switches 911medic suggested when you flashed. The first 4K of the file seems to be important and CBROM damages the first 2 bytes. There is a checksum at FFFh. If you didn't use the switchs would you mind flashing again - I am not sure if this area flashes routinely.

Hey, caught this site while searching about bios unlocking and i was wondering if you would be able to help out the laptop community.

Over at notebookreview theres a 700 something page thread for the w90 and many of us are starting to run the qx9300, issue is were locked at about a 3.0ghz clock on the stock voltages for the quadcore 9300. Funny thing is that the quadcore we put in to replace the dualcore gets LESS voltage then the dualcore does. Were hoping you can help us by unlocking a hidden voltage option in the bios or even just allowing the voltage we get for the dual on the quadcore.

This chip can supposedly hit 3.6ghz fairly easily as advertised by intel and we'd like to see that for ourselves. Im unsure what model the motherboard is but its running an x38 chipset if thats any consellation. Well do whatever it takes to get this unlocked and are willing to provide any details we can.

Away from my computer that has the bios on it atm (one on asus site is corrupt) but ill throw it up when i get on. In the meantime what do you guys think? Possible?

Select ACPI from top menu ACPI table should appear the select SLIC you should see if HP SLIC has been added. FixedBit's oem maker is for making windows home server 2003 it doesn't use SLIC but SLP server 2008 will activate with SLIC but to check if SLP is there do search on forum for oembios.exe

The link doesn't work. DOS is safer but HP might not provide a DOS flash utility. Since the mb is made by Asus you could probably use this:

You can try with the Winflash. I doubt it would brick, it probably wont flash if td doesnt like the modded bios.
Contact HP and see if they have a dos flash for these. They usually do, but it is hard to find to minimize user error.

Most people are afraid of DOS for some reason, and the failure rate is much lower with DOS..go figure..:D

@behaviour: After flash did you clear cmos and load defaults??? This needs to be done.

@For all bios uploads.........A humble request

1-The files need to be in a folder and zipped. This lessens the chance of someone trying to flash a corrupted file.

2- All factory files should be left in the folder. Most of the flash tools are bios specific. Backup bios is optional, and may add confusi9on for inexperienced users..I have downloaded and included the necessary dos flash tools not included in the file ..foxconn, biostar, and asus come to mind..:D:D

3- If a mod is made, please specify which method is used. I have been negligent of this, but I see its usefulness in TS.

Also if the mod was manual or tool modified..This is good for us to keep tabs on possible bugs..:p

Any opinions on these are welcome.....

I can confirm the modded bios loads without an issues and the SLP is being picked up.

Glad it worked for you, behaviour! You just needed an SLP name added instead of SLIC.

So far, a SSV3 mod with the first 4K preserved - SLIC works, error present

Try
1 - an ISA mod with first 4K preserved (this is to see whether it is anything to do with modifiying the main module and ACPI tables) - neither are touched with an ISA mod. You may/not get a SLIC table at the end. I want to know if you still get the checksum error.
2 - the oringial BIOS with no SLIC just the first two bytes modified (as CBROM would do). To test my theory the first 4K is important. ? checksum error
3 - the original BIOS with another 2 bytes changed not in the first 4K - to test to see if there is some sort of whole BIOS checksum. ? checksum error

Switches as before

Then feel free to go back to whatever you want :D

I have a Sony Vaio VGC-RB30 Desktop with following:

Sony support offers bios update package to version 0062P PRO0115P dated 7/05/2006

I wish to install Vista Ultimate with SP2. I have obtained the Sony certificate and correct key. I tested a temp virtual install with a modded VMware bios and all works well ( techniques explained by others in another thread ). The actual system will be fully encrypted by TrueCrypt or BestCrypt, so I cannot use any soft mods or emulation.

In the All Slics thread, there is a mod by Fzeven intel d915gag_sony_bios_update_.rar containing two files
EV0062C.BIO_Slic_Sony and EV0062P.BIO_Slic_Sony.

I think this will be the correct mod for the above real hardware system. Is that correct?
(What is the EV0062C file for?)

Although the real Sony supplied update is an EXE file, I extracted contents for examination. One file is also called EV0062P.BIO
Could I replace that file with the Fzeven EV0062P file renamed, then execute the correct installer within the Sony-supplied package?
Or, should I update with the Sony file, then re-execute some updater program? If latter, then what program to use? If the version number is the same, how will I be able to update??

The sony instructions say I can run the package within Windows but if I wish to update CPU microcode, I must run from DOS. Do I need to update that code? The unit does not have a floppy drive. Can I make a bootable CD with all files extracted thereon?

It appears I may already have everything needed to proceed, but may I have some advice, please? Thanks.

The VGC-RB34G download page shows the same file name "INBSYS-00862210-US.EXE" as the VGC-RB30 download page, so it appears the bios is the same for those two models.

In the All Slics thread, there is a mod by Fzeven intel d915gag_sony_bios_update_.rar containing two files
EV0062C.BIO_Slic_Sony and EV0062P.BIO_Slic_Sony.

In the original Sony download EV0062P.BIO is used when flashing from DOS with iflash63.exe, and EV0062C.BIO is bundled with the Windows flash utility but the files are identical. The _Slic_Sony versions are almost identical-- only 4 checksum bytes are different and they add up to the same thing. So you can flash either one. You don't need to do both. The preferable way to flash it is from DOS with iflash63.exe.

This is a dynamic mod with new FC module. To update the FC module you might need to flash from DOS like this:
afudos (ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/Afudos238.zip) /ixxxx.rom /pbnc /n


Please try it that way if you don't mind and let us know. If it still doesn't work it would be interesting to try same kind of mod but also replace empty slic in 1b with Asus slic to see if it that fixes it.

ok not sure whats going on lol, I still have xp on pc, just wondering if using everest to check on SLIC would it be in there, or would I have to have vista already installed for it to show up? if itll show up either way, than its not working.

In Everest you looked under Motherboard-ACPI? It's unusual for SLIC not to appear with ISA mod, but the bios can be modded lots of ways, so if ISA doesn't work we can try a different method. (Too late for me tonite, but I'm sure someone will have another one for you to try soon!)
