Hi China4Ever,
This modded bios, when I compared it with my version of using AMI_SLIC3_0630, has some differences. May I ask your opinion what do you make of this difference? Does this matter? Thanks for your time and expertise.
Here is the differences when using Winhex:
Search for differences
1. C:\Users\...\Desktop\ModurBios\output\A6VAAS_ORIG. 212: 524,288 bytes (my version)
2. C:\Users\...\Desktop\ModurBios\output\A6VAAS_with_ SLIC.212: 524,288 bytes (China4ever's)
Offsets: decimal
524113: E5 EB
524281: 38 32
2 difference(s) found.
Hi China4ever,
Thanks for the moded bios. It perfectly works.

The Bios for the P5K-E and the WIFI-AP edition are the same.
So you can try this, slic = Asus, report back please!
http://www.box.net/shared/ktlogmjxhh
Use afudos for the flash.
Thought I would report this as I see there are others scared to flash because of the boot block error thing...
This bios works fine, and Vista is activated!!! You must use afudos, and you must use the switches (see line below) or you will get a boot block error and it wont even flash!!! The built in bios flash utility (EZ-Flash) will not work, nor will the Asus flash utility for windows. (but then you should know better then to flash a bios in windows anywho)
AFUDOS /ixxxxx.ROM /pbnc /n (xxxxx = your bios file name)
Also, for those with this board, I have tested 3 different BIOS revisions thus far, 602beta, 806, and now 901. Stay as far away from 806 as possible!! that thing is buggy and very unstable. 602beta and 901 have ZERO issues for me.
I would have modded it myself, but am too much of a sissy when it came to my new system. I modded 2 of my older Abit boards without fail though (BD7-II Raid, and BD7) :D
Thank you Fzeven, and all those doing the Bios mods, you guys rock!!

ok i'll try with this link when i'm back home.
i'll add an old version of afudos in the archive.
boot in dos mode with your floppy or some cd dos iso
type the command : AFUDOS.EXE /i<your bios here> /pbnc /n
if u got a message like bios bad checksum or some error message it's normal.
u'll have to reconfig your bios cause the command reset all and overwrite all parts of the bios. if the bios dont work, ask to someone else in the forum that knows more about modded bios than me. i'm a newbie about modded bios but i activated 2 friends pc with modded bios, one asus a8n-e and a packard bell with some orion mobo.
we installed the vista sp1 rc1 v.668 on the packard bell and it's still activated. but software way to activate vista dont work anymore, maybe there are new soft to activate it or crackers are waiting for the final vista sp1.
modded bios rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :-)
http://rapidshare.com/files/77238790/P5KD0603_SLIC.rar.html
hope it will work this time, use the afudos in the archive + use it with the commands indicated.
if it doesnt work, ask to someone that is better than me about modding.

You better wait for sp1, make a image of you're disk before updating to sp1.
Look if it is still activated if not copy the image back and put up a new request.
The Pubkey&Marker method is more a Asus thing.

The Modded Bios for Chaintech VNF4-Ultra worked! Thanks Niko76. I was the original requestor for this and for some reason (probably an error on my part) it would not load. However, using the alt-F2 method of BIOS flash it went through without a hitch. Everest reports Asus and OEM certs/keys work.
I just wanted to report this for the MDL community.
Much better than using a crack, Thank You again.
I expect this will still work after SP1, Opinions?

modded bios works on vista sp1 rc1 v.668, the last one released by MS.
soft cracks dont work anymore or maybe lot of them.
question of time to see new soft cracks working on sp1.

Reporting that this mod works absolutely flawlessy. Vista activated and no problems. Just a couple of notes for users:
1. Refer to this post (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?p=9284&highlight=p5kr#post9284) that says explicitally to use AFUDOS 2.26 to flash this ROM. EZ-Flash doesn't work (as many people and devs already reported).
2. If you (like me) have no floppy drive (shame on us!), refer to this page (http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm) which provides all the files you need to create a bootable USB device. Tried in many ways, but that's the only one that worked... at least for me.
Thanks a bunch guys ^^

All the revisions of this board only affect the hardware layout, therefore all use the same bios. You will love this fantastic Gigabyte board!

some FYI...I modded my own bios for a ASUS M2N-E SLI (bios version 1102) using the cbrom syntax:
/Slpkey bbpubkey.bin
/Slpmarker bbmarker.bin
so it would be a actual OEM bios and used it for Vista Business Edition, the asus.xrm-ms and ASUS OEM Vista Business Key and it 'ACTIVATED' without a problem.

Bios for the Asus P5K-E and the WIFI-AP edition.
Slic = Asus, bios rev: 0901, http://www.box.net/shared/ktlogmjxhh
I am sorry I did not have seen the link thanks.
I read the bios 901 not operate some doors usb :( thus is too buggy
You can well explain the procedure afudos? I always used asus update from windows xp: D

I do realize they won't all have it, but shouldn't there be a working SLIC in any OEM BIOS for a currently selling unit that has the option of purchasing it with Windows Vista? The HP units I have seen recently are all current models. I am writing this on a nw84xx notebook, and I used the stock BIOS with no issues; but someone else was requesting it be modified. The BIOS Scotty linked to states it's for Vista machines, and is a currently selling machine. What am I missing here?

ailef,
the board is on it's way from ZZF and you can be sure I will post feedback but one quick question... what cert do I use? thank you so much!!!!
i added msi slic,
if u dont have the msi certif : http://rapidshare.com/files/78230322/certif_MSI.rar.html
keys are the same.
if u cant install the msi cert for some reason, i'll add dell or any other brand slic , they all work , u just need the right cert.

I already modded my bios using the static method with the program someone listed in one of the forums on this site and it worked like a charm. But since I asked this be done first I downloaded your copy, flashed, and all is well.
100% working vista activation confirmed.
Thanks 2 you, happy holidays, and a new year.

Model = Compaq Presario V2310CA Notebook
BIOS = Phoenix
Rev = F.27

Thank You CHINA4EVER
Above mod uses ASUS SLIC
Is it difficult to MOD to HP SLIC ?
(all should match)
I would much appreciate it. However if others need your time this is fine

Here you go .Report back.
I figured out what was going on below, please see new post here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=14442&postcount=2031).
This one didn't work for me, but I'm thinking it's something I'm doing wrong. Can someone spot where I'm messing up? This is being done on two identical computers that my wife and I just built; mine has 0 days left for activation and she has 2 days left.
We successfully flashed using this BIOS.
We installed Vista 64 bit Ultimate.
We used the -932CC key when installing.
We installed the cert and received a success message. One thought I had was that the distribution for the cert says it is for x86 only, but I have found threads on this forum that say it does not make a difference.
We used the -932CC key again with the SLMGR.VBS -ipk command.
Since I saw no responses to this stating this version worked, I then backwards flashed one machine to the version 0704 in this post (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=12126&postcount=664).
Please help. I have successfully used this method before on several other units including this notebook I am on right now, but can't seem to make it work on my own machines.

I know there was a problem with the 0904 BIOS bricking ASUS Crosshair boards (I got mine back from RMA a few weeks ago and do not want to brick it again) so just wondering which BIOS is CONFIRMED working in an ASUS Crosshair! I've seen the 0802 and 0804 but are they both 100% working? I've also seen another 0904 BIOS (besides the one that bricked my baord) but not sure if that is working 100% either?
My board is Revision 1.04G with the Soldered BIOS chip, so anyone with this board can confirm which BIOS is working please!
Also, user crosshair and InnerD both activated their Vista installs using the 0904 BIOS from here: http://www.box.net/shared/58os8xdpnd
What I would like to know from those users (and other users who have successfully flased a BIOS and activated Vista) is:
1. Which revision board did you have, 1.04G?
2. Which BIOS was originally flashed in.
3. Is your BIOS chip soldered in.
4. Which version of Vista did you install and what OEM files/serial did you use?
If I can find some common criteria that is working it would help :)
BTW, Merry Christmas/Happy New Year!

This is a feedback for Note #1597 for Fzeven
... Sorry, I only had the time after X-MAS. I installed the Fzeven mod1 for SHUTTLE BareBone SD32G2...
Vista Activated! I guess the mod2 *might* also work, but I only installed mod1 and it's working wonderful !
Many thanks for you great work !!
Two mods both with Asus slic.
If mod1 doesn't work try mod2.
