Hello there!

Few days ago I successfully "hacked" a P5Q Pro of a friend. Now I've got the same problem (Vista has deactivated) with the PC of another friend. The mainboard of the system is an ASUS A8NE-FM (code 12/16/2004-NF-CK804-A8NE-FM-00). I havn't found a fitting SLIC-BIOS, yet. Is there any for this board? It's a Fujitsu/Siemens system.

Is it possible to reactivate a deactivated Vista using the BIOS hack?

Thanks a lot!

Greetings,
Smork
I dont like the word "hack" but a modded bios will reactivate the Vista if the softmod is removed and MBR fixed..If you modded the first bios, just do the same with your other one...

I think this is more likely a problem with your motherboard or RAM. If you have 2 DIMMS, try testing 1 at a time.

To remove pubkey/marker mod download Asus version of awdflash.exe:

http://slics.myftp.org/AWDFLASH_Asus_v1.34.rar

Boot to DOS (USB flash drive is best).

Flash original, unmodded BIOS with /f switch:

awdflash.exe 2302.BAK /f

COMPAQ PROLIANT ML370 Dual Xeon 6 hot plug in hard drives, RAID 5 in hardware.
Dual XEON 2.8GHZ processors.

Anyone has got experience with such a beast ? I assume HP.
Are these BIOS able to be touched?

Thanks

It 's a proprietary BIOS. For that computer you'll need to use a bootloader like WoW (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366).

Did you clear the cmos and load bios defaults after flash??

How would Everest show the table as active?? Do you mean it is not shown in the report??

Clear cmos and load the defaults if you haven't..this is important.

After reading tutorials in this forum, i've managed to mod my bios successfully (using the award bios patcher, 3rd option : with 3 ISA, first option didn't work, I only had the RSDT added with _ASUS_ OEM ID)

Here is the problem : My Slic table disapear after rebooting vista, let me explain :

mod my bios
registering asus certificate and vista ultimate key with slmgr.vbs
reboot in dos mode
flash the modded bios with autoexec.bat (see link, it contains the autoexec, awflash tool...)
boot normal, Yatta vista activated!
i launch everest, the slic table now appear, everething's cool
NOW THE CATCH: I simply reboot my pc... vista no longer activated wtf?!
launch everest : slic table disappeard?
What's wrong? If someone could help, it would be appriciated, I'm really lost.
the only solution i've found was to back again in dos mode, reflash, vista activated, but i cant reboot or turn off my computer, cause everytime I do, vista is no longer activated, 4 days of evaluation left before vista brick, Help plz.

This usually means the SLIC table is getting overwirtten in memory. This is going to need a SSV3/0+2 mod. Automated tools will not work like you found out

Which ISA module you use might make a difference too. If you weren't using the Tommy version then you could try it again using that one. It was made to correct that problem with Gigabyte motherboards. (Ironically now it isn't compatible with most newer Gigabyte bioses but still oftentimes works with other brands.)

note: Looks like zotac provides no way to flash from dos. Please follow the following steps for reducing risk of a dead board:

0. Familiarize yourself with bios recovery options
1. Reboot, load setup defaults
2. Flash original bios (select flash boot block if there is a option in the tool)
3. Clear cmos, load defaults
4. Boot into windows and flash mod bios - don't flash the boot block
5. Reboot, load defaults

Thanks a lot for being so quick.
I've just flashed my bios with yours.
the good news, everest shows the asus slic, I did a reboot to check again.

bad news, still stuck with restricted acces, vista not activated.

There is a chance the SLIC might have partly overwritten in RAM. To verify if that is the case you can upload a memory dump for us to check one of these ways:

For 32-bit versions of Windows:

Run Winhex

Click Tools -> Open RAM

Physical Memory will be selected, Click OK.

Click Edit -> Define Block

Enter:
Beginning: E0000
End: FFFFF

Click OK

Click Edit -> Copy Block -> Into New File

Save it with a name such as "system.bin"

Upload somewhere and post a link to it, or pm the modder if you prefer.

For 32-bit or 64-bit Windows:
Run HWDirect

Double click Memory Dump

Enter:
Physical Address: E0000
Size: 20000

Click Dump

Right click in box and click Select All

Right click again and click Copy

Run Hexedit

Click Edit -> Clipboard Data -> Paste Into New File

Click Ascii Hex

Click File -> Save

Pick a name like "system.bin"

Upload the file and post the link or pm the modder.

Before you reformat, please follow Zort's directions to give us the dump file. The bios should work unless the slic is being overwritten in memory. One more thing: Make sure you are running these commands as the administrator (elevated command prompt). Also completely uninstall the key and the license and reinstall.

I tried dumping the memory, but a have a "access denied", the restricted mode is pretty annoying, another thing wired, the activation window shows me 3 options : 1, restricted access, 2, enter a new key, 3, contact XXX by phone, usually its "contact microsoft..." that's why I think I messed with vista activation somehow right before using your modded bios.

zort

I tried dumping the memory, but a have a "access denied"

In that case you need to use the 64-bit instructions. I don't think it's due to the Windows restrictions.

cwalooo,

The SLIC in RAM from the memory dump is good, so I don't think there's a problem with the bios mod.

If you've used any kind of bootloader/softmod you might try VOATK Tools (http://rapidshare.com/files/50368049/voatktoolsv.2.5_stand_alone.zip.html) to remove it.

If the bootloader is default Windows then if all else fails a reinstall will probably do the trick.

cwalooo
03-30-2009, 08:17 AM
thank you for your support, voatk didnt work because of the restricted access (it craches), so i'm gonna erase the partition of my hard drive and rewirte it (make sure the mbr is reset), reinstall vista (it's not gonna kill me I think^^), I'll do feedback in a few hours (need to sleep)

Anyway, the hard part is already done, thanks to you p4spooky for the bios, and thank to you Zort for you assistance.

See ya later...

This is simply NOT possible what you are asking. The foxconn bios already has the RAID module. Depending on the board model, the RAID/AHCI option will activate in the bios. If you notice the same bios is used for BOTH

P9657AA-8EKRS2H (R: Denotes the model with Raid)

Please don't try to do something your board is not capable of. You will end up with a expensive, large paper weight

Don't have that one, but here's an ISA mod you can try. If it doesn't work correctly we can make an oem mod.

- Motherboard Manufacturer : DFI
- Model: LanParty PRO875B

1. Please follow the instructions HERE (http://www.victorchen.info/create-a-bootable-usb-memory-stick/) to create a bootable flash disk.

2. Copy the AFUXXX.EXE and the bios file to the bootable flash disk.
3. Go into the bios and select the flash disk as first HDD boot device from the bios

- Bios SLIC : ASUS

This was in this forum a while back. I am wondering if this bios can be modded or where I can get an update for it.

I am not sure if this falls under the same problem of my bios can only see 3 gigs of ram while I've installed 4 gigs...or is this a final limitation on the bios?

I'm using win7 7068 build and I understand MS fixed the 3 gig limitation, but in my properties...there is no ram info.

If anyone can direct me or tell me if this is a done deal... greatly appreciate!

Thanks

To answer your questions, the possible reasons are:

1. People like to match SLIC to their board (Asus boards are popular)

Awdflash says that with my motherboard too if the key/marker isn't already in current bios. The built in EZ Flash utility doesn't care though so that's a workaround if you have it available.

There are some more things that could be tried such as renaming the fake slic or replacing it with a real one. I have to get going but I'm sure someone will have another mod for you to try before too long.

unfortunately the link above is dead; could you fix it plz?

thx

tried it with another connection now it worked; maybe something with FW...
however, I'm at work now, I'll try it and report later

btw a question: I have an OEM XP shipped with this MB/System/PC/whatever; due to I have a new SLIC/SLP now, may I receive problems at installation/activation or with the license?

thx in advance :D

Ok will do. EVGA suggested taking the cmos battery out I am trying that. Then I will try your suggestion. Tried EVGA's suggestion and yours no luck. Im gonna get on the horn about rmaing the board or requesting a new bios chip be sent. If you have any other ideas or solutions let me know. And don't feel bad spooky, I knew the risk before doing it. It aint your fault and when it comes to this kind of stuff win some lose some. Maybe it can be revised again. Well, not too happy right now having killed a $300 board. I am stumped because the mod is correct. All that was changed was 1 byte in the ACPITBL.bin (changed SLIC to SLEC). I will have Zort take a look at it.

I think the BIOS chip is soldered on the board - check that if it is in a socket, then you don't need to RMA the board. If you have a similar board you can hot flash. Please talk to EVGA they have the best support.

We will figure this out - sorry about the issues you are now faced with. :(

the boot from CD make virtual floppy (A Drive) and i think that the virtual floppy is on "write protected" mode

maybe if you will make a tiny little partition (2GB max) with file system fat32 and copy the flash rom file and the flash exe file and after this you can boot from cd and go to your fat32 drive (default is C) and try to do flash

p.s. i thinking on this option because there is no "protected mode" in fat32 on pure dos and maybe the flash program need to write a temp file for the flash procedure
