Hi
Could anyone please be kind enough to provide an Asus Slic modified BIOS for this motherboard...

Motherboard : Abit IP35 Pro XE
BIOS Revision F11 Evaluation ROM
Slic Requested : Asus

http://www.abitshop.eu/bios/m629o_11.bin

There has been a F11 SLIC done before but the above linked BIOS is a different one supplied by Abit to resolve the incorrect temperatures reported for E0 / R0 stepping chips.

Many thanks as usual for those with the time, skill and generosity in sharing their work.

I will try to see if I can find it. I am not familiar with Phenom bios options, but how hard can it be.......Right?:D:cool:

I will get it back to you tonight..it is 17:00 hrs here. I cannot download the bios. Upoad it to another server..

Thanks for looking at it anyway.

Can you add the Asus SLIC please? This is a far superior bios to the previous one (113) for stability, options and overclocking.

Thanks.

We have not been able to use the amioslic tool for some time, especially for MSI..See the special thread> Here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=997)

MEDION SLIC = http://slics.myftp.org/MSI_7380v13_SLIC_MEDION.rar

Flash from DOS with AFUDOS included. Clear cmos and load defaults.

Manual mod was the only way for a long time..SSv2 is only safe. The new tool by AndyP is the best available...by far. It is also the only one able to SLIC an MSI bios.. Here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=4071)

The old tools have no place here other than archive..IMHO

dear 911medic,

thank you very much. the bios works fine with vista64, but i also need the "Medionpc" string for WinXP inside. I try AMibcp with consequence, i have black screeen (v3.18) or reboots (v3.33).
what tool i can use?

thank you,

AMIBCP corrupts the bios, but leaves the modules in tact. You can make edits to a bios file, save it, extract the modules and reinsert them into a fresh file..This will work.

I have added the MEDIONPC string to the DMI area manually.

I have also included a boot ISO with AMI tools core8 with the HP tattoo disk
boot to this, press 4 to exit to dos prompt, type DMI at the prompt. This will take you to the AMI DMIedit tool. You can edit the dmi area here as

Add manufacturer string as > DMI /sm "MEDIONPC"
Add Board (MFG#2) . DMI /bm "MEDIONPC"
ADD case (MFG#3) DMI /cm "MEDIONPC"

You can also add other stuff, but this should suffice. This tool may be safer than the flash, it may not:eek:..

Please could it be possible to mod this bios, I have tried several methods and all seem ok but Vista just bluescreens either when fresh installing, or if it installs it bluescreens almost as soon as the desktop appears. I checked the mod(s) ive done under XP and the SLIC is all there.:(

Tried unmodifed bios and all ok, just not activated. Tested memory, board etc its just this SLIC bit that confusing me. Even bought a 2nd same type board they both do same, new memory, PSU, and CPU.

Tried the AMISLIC-FC program (as i noticed it has the FC Bios Module), green leds ok, PC wont initialise unless a repeated reset button or on/off cycle.

Tried Andyp's Slictool (0.9992), SSV3 method, seems ok but i am getting this Bluescreen all the time. Tried the Dynamic part and it goes all the way thru and stops with "Patch File Not Found" error?

Please could it be modified for Hewlett-Packard for XP and Vista SLIC.

Sorry to ask for this again but I have tried this BIOS....

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=43443&postcount=15314

...but found that when checking with Everest there is no SLIC table inserted and so Vista can't be activated.

This was my original request...

Motherboard : Abit IP35 Pro XE
BIOS Revision F11 Evaluation ROM
Slic Requested : Asus
http://www.abitshop.eu/bios/m629o_11.bin

I can't use the one that I have tried as when I have flashed it from my USB driver Everest reports no SLIC inserted, I have reset the CMOS and loaded defaults several times.

Thankyou for any help.

It's the same thing with the original :(

OK - obviously something is wrong with your setup. Please load defaults and use memtest/prime95 to check stability at default settings before you overclock.

If you had better luck with another BIOS version you can try this. Remeber newer is not always better :)

The one 911medic modded for barat is an updated version though:

the above linked BIOS is a different one supplied by Abit to resolve the incorrect temperatures reported for E0 / R0 stepping chips.

None parameter is overclocked. All is défault setting + all useless features are deactivated.

Maybe because it's a beta version...

I am surprised since it was already tested working:

M2N SLI Deluxe - rev. 1701 - Phoenix Award BIOS
SLIC: ASUS mod: p4spooky, tested by coffeeborg

This is a ISA mod that I did based on what the previous modder did to 1604.

Please try the unmodded (Original) 1701 bios and confirm that you are not getting any BSODs? Report back please.

Isn't BIOS rev.1701 for the M2N32 Sli Deluxe rather than M2N Sli Deluxe? The latest BIOS I can find for the later is 1604 and it's still beta.

Anyone have rev. 1405 BIOS for M2N Sli Deluxe laying around? All the links I can find here and elsewhere have been deleted or are no longer valid.

Edit: Ah... I see ASUS has recently added 1701 for the M2N Sli Deluxe. I'll try that. :)

Interesting. I have seen this before on one of my ASUS boards - my p5K. If the SLIC table is above the AMIBIOSC header (as it is here) - then funny things happen (in my case vista hangs on startup), when it is below all is fine. Here there is no space below.

911medic / p4spooky et. al. - have you ever done a successful ASUS SSV2 mod with the SLIC above the AMIBIOSC header??

I am surprised since it was already tested working:

M2N SLI Deluxe - rev. 1701 - Phoenix Award BIOS
SLIC: ASUS mod: p4spooky, tested by coffeeborg

This is a ISA mod that I did based on what the previous modder did to 1604.

Please try the unmodded (Original) 1701 bios and confirm that you are not getting any BSODs? Report back please.

I can confirm that the above BIOS works.

Installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit this morning and activated without any problem. No BSOD's.

M2N-SLI Deluxe is finicky about RAM or OP may have other hardware problem.

I tried to open it as an archive file and it doesn't work. Help a newbee out please. :D

Rename it to something like KFN4-DRE.ROM. The best way to flash it is using afudos from a bootable usb flash drive. (It will be on the download page for your motherboard.) Otherwise the flash utility in bios setup usually works too.

Hi guys,

Since I'm still waiting and you already have modded requests later than mine, I think, you have overlooked me.
My request is on page 1776, it should be an easy one, since the original BIOS was already modded by you.
This BIOS is different only in the ACPI part -> new DSDT table for integration of Battery.
THX for your help in advance,

Maschdel

BTW. The previous modded one works great. :D

I would post it in the Phoenix request thread here:

Dell bioses can't be modded.

If there isn't a SLIC visible you can attempt to unlock a hidden one:

Otherwise you'll have to use a bootloader like wow:

Hello everyone!

new Bios (F3) for the GA-MA790GP-DS4H was released. Could someone do a mod on it please?
Very good, successfull mods were done by Yen and by Offon7544 just a while ago for the F2 version and also then for the F3H version. The F3H version disappeared from the Gigabyte Servers, but they now have a F3O version (which i don't need because it probably replaces the F3H and is just a fix), and a plain "F3" Version, which introduces Phenom II support. This one i want. I am planning to install a Phenom II very soon, so i am going to need that bios.
Can i ask you, Offon7544 to mod the new version please? Yen is currently not here and i don't know if anyone apart from you is familiar with this slightly tricky bios...
Slic don't matter, really, Asus prefered though (saves me from reinstalling Cert).
Please remember that the bios seems to be a little tricky! There was already one board bricked with an F1 Bios. Take care with that mod.
I highly appreciate it if you could do that. Thank you.

good evening, i read about articles here bout modding your own bios :) i think i got it but im afraid for mobo.. can you tell me if i did it correctly?

Don't use muyu ISA. It's an older version that doesn't work as well. Tommy's updated ISA works the best.

Here's a collection of Tommy ISA modules with different slics that 911medic posted: http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048424/isa_bins.rar

Also I would put the ISA bin in the same directory as the bios and cbrom so the path doesn't get added to the module name in the bios, but it will still work with the path in the name. It's just for aesthetics.

p4spooky has already made a new one for you here with Tommy ISA:

I might have not explained well myself on the SLA 2.0 and P5QL PRO since I only realized the SLIC and SLA 2.0 AFTER I installed Vista in the machine and could not activate. The key and the digital certificates installed successful BUT it would not activate. I put the Paradox solution and then was activated.
This morning and AFTER finding comments around ENABLING in the BIOS the SLa 2.0 I look at the P5QL PRO Bios and found that SLA 2.0 WAN NOT ENABLED.

1) Is this why it did not work ?
2) With modern bios like this if you do enable this before installing the op sys then no need to mods and should work?
This last question is the one I am trying to understand. Or still you need to mod the Bios.
Thanks !

If you install Everest you can look under Motherboard->ACPI and see if SLIC is listed. If you're using 32-bit os you can also use acpiscope to check.

ZORT, g' day, see you are on line.

If I have a BIOS ALREADY with SLA 2.0 BUT it is DISABLED; then if I enable it and then install VISTA (this is ASUS P5QL PRO with AMI 0.92 and Quad Core Intel 8200) then I DO NOT need to slic in or modify anything ?
Just the proper key and the digitial certificate OR has ASUS provided the facility in the Bios but the 374 bytes info is missing?

I technically have some understanding but get confused with not complete and clear explanations.

Thanks

You'll need a modded BIOS for there to be a valid SLIC. You can verify that it is present using Everest before you install Vista. As far as the BIOS setting you can try it both ways and see if it makes a difference.

Tried to reply before and something went wrong.

THANKS ! Ok there are 3 ASUS machines here.
One is P5B Deluxe and two are P5QL PRO. Everest tells me ALL have SLIC with _ASUS_, size 374 bytes, etc, etc. So it is there. BUT the SLA 2.0 is disabled in BIOS and I suspect that is a problem.
Last night I did use the proper key during installation and then manually via command line as admin I put the certificate and got a prompt of success at the end but would not activate. Then I put the Vista Developer thing and that was it.
This morning I found this forum and smelling the rat, for what I could get, looked and found BIOS disabled on SLA 2.0 extension.

Can I conclude that that was the problem?

I may need to re do a machine to prove the point?

Feedback guaranteed.

I found a SSV1 modded to HP/HP - XP is fine, Vista will not install dies at setup page, if i turn off the RSDT/ACPI2.0 ( tried one or other and both) parts in the bios Vista installs only as trial mode. Go into bios and turn them on Vista hangs on start up, in XP i can see the SLIC info is all correct in Everest.

ZORT THANKS !. Got the tools and expect to work with the DEVELOPER ACTIVATION ?

Ok, ASUS P5B Deluxe and P5QL PRO all have American Mega Trends (AMI) Bios compliant with SLA (Soffware Licencing Agreement). Under BIOS Menu POWER ACPI 2.0 SUpport=Add Additional Tables) was DISABLED. This is the setting I suspect liberates the SLIC tables to the operating system.ALso in the POWER menu is the ACPI APIC which makes to include the ACPI APIC table pointer to RSDT pointer list.

In the end I can only prove the point when I enable all of these but need to clean the MBR first. If the worse comes to the worse I will re do one of the machines. I can do that blind folded at this stage.

Will report my findings to all in the group. Be patient I am on a trip till Friday.

The SLIC you are seeing is probably from a boot loader. I have not seen as ASUS bios not from an oem manufacturer with SLIC in the bios .

Enabling the ACPI 2.0 does not enable the SLIC. it simply turns the ACPI on or off..http://www.techarp.com/showfreebog.aspx?lang=0&bogno=381

If you would like to activate the machines without a bootloader or other hack that will most likely be disabled in the future, then you need to have your bios modded. It is up to you, but developer activation is simply another antiwpa crack..nothing special.

If you want me to check your bios, upload a copy. I have not been able to find the bios you specified. If this is a P4B533 bios, AMI is not the type, it is award.

ACPI 2.0 compliant does not mean it contains a SLIC. It is a standard and applies to the different table structures. NOT necessarily SLIC tables.

I would bet that all the machines that showed it was a slic bios was activated with a bootloader or crack. Not a bios oem activation. SLP2.0 is not the same as ACPI 2.0. Newer bios are almost all 2.0 compliant, very few contain a slic table. Some ASUS bios contain SLIC tables, but are incomplete.

Put links to the bios, and a link to the p4b533 uay, as I cannot find this board anywhere..

Tables yes, complete and functional...No.

A mod is still in order, and if you would like to do it yourself, use AndyP's tool in the new tool for MSI bios thread..Its in the sticky and was started by AndyP.

I need to know if I can use the bios for the P4B533 from the asus website. The copy you gave me seems a bit hinkey. I just doesnt look right.:D

EDIT: Just a note..Everest shows the table headers and not much more. This tool only shows that something is there, not what is there.ACPIScope is a better tool if you will be exploring your bios and the subsequent modules and tables.

http://rapidshare.com/files/207025171/SUSAN.zip

First one is now modified following Andy's tool so I hope this is ok now? P5B Deluze modded

The other 2's are the ones for P5QL PRO ASUS and this is funny and beyond my knowledge (which is nothing) The SUSAN is original and had 411 bytes long SLIC or so Everest said......... the SUSAN SLIC is the one I did with Andy's tool.

I tried to get a copy of ACPI scope but Symantec said trojan........

Let me know your comments. THANKS !

Flash from DOS with the flash tool you have from the website. Clear cmos and load defaults after flash.

Andy's tool is AMI only..Very good and complete...The Susan looks ok to me. I would imagine if the tool did not throw an error, they all (AMI) are fine..

Turn the symantec off. I would not recommend it as a AV progra anyway, but it is too late for that now..:p

So, that is SUSAN SLIC the SUSAN on its own (file with no SLIC) is the ORIGINAL untouched just from the machine. The one with SLIC has got the mod and the tool said:"success", simple as that.

NOTE: P5B Deluxe and P5QL PRO AMI bios have inbuilt flash utility and I am not sure if that is what I need to use to replace. It is cattered for. The last two machine do not have floppy drives only memory slots, CD ROM and 10 USB ports.......just for the lack of one.

I checked the mod bios. The original unmodded bios has a nonfunctional table. Use the modded file. You can flash with a usb stick per instructions in one of the stickies. There are many tutorials on the web. EZFlash usually works now with Andy's tool. It will either flash it or buck with an error. It is best with a bios flash tool, and the factory tool is best.

WINFLASH IS NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!! This will likely not work well...

Flash from DOS with tool provided. Clear cmos and load defaults after flash.

Feedback please!!

First tnx for the effort, but it was a loooong night. It did boot but it would hang at sata/raid part after the load, bios was completely inaccessible, and it would refuse to boot from flopy/hdds, fortunately it did boot from 7 yr old cd burner that i found in basement after I disconected all other drives and plugged it in from dispair, so i was able to flash back the original.

Any ideas what went wrong ? :)

Assuming you cleared cmos & loaded defaults, I think it's safe to say the isa module doesn't work with this bios. You'll need an oem or ssv3 mod instead. Glad you found a way to recover!

You can delete those files. Those are the original & modified versions of the 1B module. It's extracted from original bios, slic is written in it, and then it's reinserted into the bios replacing the previous version. They are just left behind for those who want to compare the changes made to it.

Works fine so far.

Just to let you know that with patched 0306 rom I had activated WS2k8 after the installation but 60 days left on the next day after applying number of MS updates.

Now I installed the updated 0403 upon the unactivated WS2k8 and it is self-activated again. Last 3 updates from MS were installed with no problems for activation status.

So I report the patch as successful.
I come back with the updated info if something happance

It is EFI bios. There aren't any tools to mod it at this time. You'll need to use a bootloader like WoW (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366).

I cannot find the link to my 1502 mod. The only one I found was this: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=50919&postcount=17217

Can you please provide more details? Did you clear CMOS after flash and load defaults?
