Will do, having problems though, after selecting Physical Ram, when i click OK it says access denied ? How do i get past this?

I don't know why you're getting that message, but here's an alternate method. This is also what people with 64-bit Windows need to do:

Run HWDirect

Double click Memory Dump

Enter:
Physical Address: E0000
Size: 20000

Click Dump

Right click in box and click Select All

Right click again and click Copy

Run Winhex

Click Edit -> Clipboard Data -> Paste Into New File

Click Ascii Hex

Click File -> Save

Pick a name like "system.bin"

Upload the file and post the link or pm the modder.

I suspect some bytes of the SLIC have been overwritten in RAM by something else. I would need a memory dump to verify this and to pick a place that for sure would work, but first try this:

SLP added: Asus,HP
SLIC added: Asus

http://www.sendspace.com/file/2vfp2j

Method used: SSV3

2nd try, different memory address.

Thank you very much, this time it seems to work!

Hi,

I'd like to know if it's possible SLP and SLIC, both Asus type, for this BIOS: http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/kt600/a7v600-x/A7v6x009.zip .
Tried this from 911medic http://slics.myftp.org/A7v6x009_ASUS.rar
and fzeven http://www.box.net/shared/64le1lk4k4 - I belived that both are made to Vista, unless I'm doing something wrong. I'm using a XP-SP3 OEM disk original from MS and added the compressed files from SLP "ASUS_FLASH" B20C65BF.rar from oembios.net and edited WINNT.SIF with XP Home Edition OEM SLP R8P77-FM8RH-BFDCC-3BMCY-QGWPD --- XXXXX-OEM-0011903-00109 --- ASuS (*) from http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2602

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=51987&postcount=58

it will tell the id slp in your bios. so that you can verify what oem bios needed for your oem cd :D

OEMBIOS message from both modded bios:

Windows XP OEMBIOS Test v1.0/168/66 (C) 2007 severach @ msfn forums
None of the 66 contained OEMBIOS sets will preactivate to your system.

Installed ACPIScope, tested again both bios on the motherboard, ASUS Notebook SLIC are present on both, but not yet installed Vista to confirm. Saved the ACPIScope output files from both modded bios if needed.

Tested my XPSP3OEM disk with VMWare Fusion running "VMWARE65_SLP1_MANY_SLIC_ASUS.ROM", activated correctly.
Tested the motherboard with both pre-modded bios, no one activated.

1. You're welcome...:D

2. Fairly safe, there is always a chance for bricked board, even with factory flash.

3. Absolutely, see (2)

4. Most of the time there is recourse for recovery, whether it be replace the eeprom, reflash with a programmer, use dual bios, or recovery usb or floppy flash...See (2)

5. There have been successful X58 flashes, yes...see (2)

6. Thumbdrive is fine and some (most) prefer this method. It is faster than a floppy, and probably more sound. The key is to be in pure DOS, which the HP tool, or any formatting tool that allows creating a bootable drive creates....Again see (2)

As always..Good luck and be sure to post feedback..:D:p

P.S. See #2 and read this....Here... (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=283) and Here... (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2105) and finally Here for another alternative... (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3366)

Motherboard: Asus A7V600-X
Bios Version: 1009
Bios Type: Award
SLP and SLIC, both Asus

The original BIOS already has "ASUS_FLASH" in system. It will work with ASUS "2411858C" oembios files, but not "B20C65BF". No mod is needed for Asus SLP for this BIOS.
(Note: oembios.exe doesn't know about "2411858C" file set.)

If you need slic as well then the safest option is to use fzeven's mod which is already tested working:

A7V600-X - Revision: 1009
slic = Asus mod Fzeven, tested by carota
http://www.box.net/shared/64le1lk4k4

Along with Asus - 2411858C oembios files:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/z5100b

If you prefer to keep using "B20C65BF" files you can try this new untested mod:
SLP added: Asus,HP
SLIC added: Asus
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2p3uv1

There was a mistake in 911medic's so don't use it.

Edit: updated link has correct flash utility

Zort,

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!! Your modded bios worked!!!! First I tried with the Asus flasher you sent - no go, wrong file or can't open the file - then I tried again with aflash2.21 that I was using before and flashed correctly. Didn't think twice, my eprom programmer was right next to me.

Tested with msoobe /a and activated. I'll test with Vista and report to you!!! My son thanks a lot too, it will be his first computer!!!

Thanks again,

why not go to gigabyte site and you will find the amswer:D

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2758

I know there is a new version, what I meant is has the new version been "transcoded" yet by anyone because if it has been then i'd like to update.

I assume that if I flash their version 'd lose vista activation.

Again it's a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev. 1.0) and the latest bios is F7: http://america.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-ma78gm-s2h_f7.exe

Again I'm not asking for someone to go to the bother of transcoding a new version but I would update the bios if I could.

Check allslics thread and do quick search of this thread. If you don't see it in either place then submit proper request with all info including bios link & slic requested like tsialex did. (No need to now.) There are still a couple requests ahead of his, but we'll get to it soon!

Ok, maybe someone can help me with THIS one. I have an OLDER PC with an Elitgroup board. The bios chip has this on it: 686 AMIBIOS (c)1999 AU25 689. I have contacted AMI in email n they told me to contact Elitegroup. Elitegroup tells me to contact AMI.... see the picture ? This board uses a SiS chipset and all I want to do is to restore the bios and put this little machine in operation.
Any help with locating those files ?

Hi The 2nd, I was afraid that might be the case--ISA hasn't been working with very many Gigabyte bioses lately. I thought it was worth at try though, since it worked with EP45-UD3R and you asked for same kind of mod. Anyway I'll be glad to do F5. We'll use SSV3 or OEM this time. ;)

Overclocking the FSB can make your system unstable. Does it run normally at default speeds? Also different versions of the bios may be more stable than others. A good thing to do after updating to a different bios version is to clear cmos and load setup defaults.

Tommy ISA mod = an ISA module last worked on by Tommy that is added to the bios. It has code that updates the acpi and adds the slic in memory. It is generally safe to try and is easy to make because it doesn't require changing any existing bios modules. It is just added at the end.

OEM/SSV1 = SLIC is added as a separate OEM module or nocompress module

SSV3= SLIC is added in system module

SSV2= For AMI only. SLIC is written over FF bytes in bios image, not in any module.

If your system is unstable at normal speed with the ISA mod then you might need a different kind of mod. (You can compare to unmodded SZ17.) If it is only unstable when overclocking I think it is more likely to do with the a difference between this bios version and the version you were using previously.

Not overclocking any settings at all. The stock speeds on ram and for the processor multiplier and fsb are being used.

Ex. My memory runs stock at 1066 perfectly on the unmodded bios. with the modded bios the system will restart randomly and set the speed to 800.

If you get a chance do you think the OEM/SSV1 method would work?

OK it sounds like the ISA is doing something funny then. While there's no way to say for sure if an oem mod will work, I think it's worth a try. Stay posted for new mod soon!

Can you pleae try couple of things and get back to us?

1. Try 1701 and report back if RAID 0 works

M2N SLI Deluxe - rev. 1701 - Phoenix Award BIOS
SLIC: ASUS mod: p4spooky, tested by coffeeborg
http://www.box.net/shared/ooccl9ppqs

2. Try original 1604 and confirm RAID 0 works.

This will help us figure out if something is wrong with 1604 mod.

Thanks

I will test the bios 1604 and 1701 with and without slic, then post the result.

Manual mod was the only way for a long time..SSv2 is only safe. The new tool by AndyP is the best available...by far. It is also the only one able to SLIC an MSI bios.. Here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=4071)

The old tools have no place here other than archive..IMHO

I think the "A" betas (first revision) are often unstable. Good idea to use F6 until they come out another update or two for the beta. :)

Please could it be possible to mod this bios, I have tried several methods and all seem ok but Vista just bluescreens either when fresh installing, or if it installs it bluescreens almost as soon as the desktop appears. I checked the mod(s) ive done under XP and the SLIC is all there.:(

Tried unmodifed bios and all ok, just not activated. Tested memory, board etc its just this SLIC bit that confusing me. Even bought a 2nd same type board they both do same, new memory, PSU, and CPU.

Tried the AMISLIC-FC program (as i noticed it has the FC Bios Module), green leds ok, PC wont initialise unless a repeated reset button or on/off cycle.

Tried Andyp's Slictool (0.9992), SSV3 method, seems ok but i am getting this Bluescreen all the time. Tried the Dynamic part and it goes all the way thru and stops with "Patch File Not Found" error?

Please could it be modified for Hewlett-Packard for XP and Vista SLIC.

Many thanks, Mx.

Will give feedback.:D

Running Linpack now 25 iterations, so far no BSODs. Nothing wrong with the mod as far as I can tell. Yes, I did clear CMOS, load defaults after flash. Great job. Looks like SSV3 works nicely on newer Gigabyte boards.

Thank you good sir. At first the post screen was all jacked up just like the previous fix. Left the system off a few hours, rebooted, set up my settings in the bios and its good! Very stable as well. This method worked better than the Tommy method. Thank you again Zort!

yeah, think the module is replacing the bootrom, not sure what it does tho, im sure poly would tell if somebody asked(to lazy to ask when im using a 6000+)

some people have had dual cores post, others havent been able to get them to, the risk is there, basickly its a phenom only bios(works with the kuma duals though im sure since they are just quads with 2 dissabled cores)

i wanted to stick with asus because i have server 2008 activated with it now(using a dell key though) My MAK key needed to reactivate and to do that u gotta have ms add more activations, wasnt worth the hassle(takes them around a week to deal with this, i have done it b4)

and this bios (the asus moded one) worked like a charm :) thanks mucky(can mark it tested) :D

Im curious to which features are 'opened up'. We may be able to do it here in combo with a SLIC mod. If you would get a list of the options they made available, I would be very interested. If they are simply hidden options in the bios setup, it is no problem to open them to you...

I am not sure I fully understand.

I tried retail & OEM DVD each time choosing Home Premium.
My legit key is rejected each time...
The Vista sticker on the notebook says "Home Premium OEMAct"

I will have to read a lot more before I can answer the "table in BIOS" question as I dont have the knowledge.
I know.... I am the total noob. :o

Hi, could someone please modifiy this board an ASUS slic for me.

Manufacturer and Model : Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev1.0)
Bios revision : F7
Bios Type : Award
Bios Link: http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-ma78gm-s2h_f7.exe

I have found the F7 bios with a Dell slic but cannot find it with the ASUS one.
Thanks in advance

I've tried to mod this BIOS myself using the automod ISA method but I get a 2700 checksum error on upload, bios boots OK but I cannot get into the BIOS setup screen it just hangs.

Could someone please help me or give me guidance, thanks a lot.

Please mod the above
This is the final version of the F8 bios which has had two previous betas I know of. This board requires a SSV3 mod as Zort discovered. I have been trying to learn how do do this but I'm not there yet :D.
Thanks much as usual :)

Previously updated bios upon patched 0202 with no activation issues after update.

So I need ro roll-back to 0202 and to ask for another updated bios.

Few days ago ASUS issued new bios update so now I want to ask to patch the new one

No., Im not going to be able to do it. The module or 'FIX' doe not exist in this bios, and I am not adept enough to add it to the code. There are some older ones pre-modded, but I dont know the purpose of needing this newest bios.

Sorry about that. Award I would have no problem with, I can unhide AMI options, but I do not know how to add them...Sorry:(
