Back with report.....
First tried onboard EZflash2... (Yeah I admit to laziness)
No go either with original 0601 or modded 0601.
Second move was AFUDOS.
(using /ixxxxxxxx.rom /pbnc /n switches)
Successfully flashed with original 0601 file from Asus.
Afterwards on to modded 0601.
Success!!
Test install:
Vista Ultim. x86 SP1.
Activated!!
Great job, thank you p4spooky
....also for the amazing response time :)

Do you have the gigabyte certificate. This would be a good find.
To clarify, you need a matching cert to the SLIC to activate. If you have the cert, could you upload it please//:D
I zipped up all the certificates I collected up until now and uploaded them here: http://rapidshare.com/files/196363067/crts.rar
Password to the archive is 'p@$$w0rd' (without the quotes).
[Edit]
Forgot to mention that a file named gigabyte.xrm-ms is included, but I have no way of verifying if it's legit.

Hello again medic
If possible when you have some time can you look into modding this bios.
Manufacturer: Asus
Model: P5KPL-CM
BIOS VERSION REQUEST: P5KPL-CM BIOS V0517
LINK: link (http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5KPL-CM/P5KPL-CM-ASUS-0517.zip)
This is for a new computer I am experimenting with and would like added slic to this bios. I see there are some old mods but am trying to keep what I can up to date to eliminate any possible problems.
Regards,
Paul
Manufacturer: Gigabyte
Model : GA-EP45-UD3R (rev. 1.0)
Bios Version: F6

For best results update to original bios first, load setup defaults, save and exit. Then update to modded bios. ISA has worked with previous versions of this bios, so it's worth trying before oem.
was no feedback if this worked or not, anyone know? dont wana make a new request if this will fit my needs.

No one's tried the GA-EP45-UD3R F6 ISA mod yet that I know of. ISA worked for versions F3, F4, and F5 of this bios. There's still a chance it'll need another kind of mod, but ISA's worth trying first, especially when you have dualbios.
Check out delweine's post about F5 if you haven't already. It has some good info about how to flash, and of course that one is already tested working if you prefer.
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=44692&postcount=15699
If F6 ISA mod has any issues I'll be glad to make a oem or SSV3 mod for it.

After your flashes, did you clear the cmos and load factory defaults?? This makes a difference..:D:D
Just in case you did, and it didn't.....Here is a quick OEM Mod..
MSI SLIC = http://slics.myftp.org/BIOS_MS7091_v4.0m_MSI_SLIC.rar
Flash from Pure dos (Bootdisk) with flash tool included. Clear cmos and load defaults after flash...

This is what I did:
awfl859g w7091im7.40m /py /sn /sb /cd /cc /cp /e /f
/cc clears CMOS Data, but I didn't clear CMOS with Jumper
I also tried the command above without /sb (sb means "Skip BootBlock programming"), but I never tried /wb instead (wb means "Always Programming BootBlock). I was frightened to make the Bios unrecoverable :)
As far as I can remember, I once loaded factory defaults from inside the Bios, but this didn't make the trick...

Try the MSI slic. Skip bootblock flash is a wise decision. Only flash if necessary IMHO..:D
The additional switches are your preference...I dont use them often:D:D

I just flashed your modified bios, additionaly cleared CMOS with jumper and loaded optimized defaults, and now I have the SLIC entry with OEM ID: MSI_NB :D
Thank you very very much for your quick help!
Tomorrow I will install Vista and try the MSI certificate, but I'm very optimistic. After that, I will give a final feedback.
Hi Zort, can you mod this motherboard BIOS for me ?
I've seen you already do it, but I need different OEM - SLP1 for Dell or HP and SLIC for Dell or HP. Not ASUS. I have only Dell and HP installation discs. Of Course if SLP1 is Dell SLIC should be Dell or if SLP1 is HP SLIC should be HP..
Use the SSV3 mod below. It works the best and already has SLP1 names: Dell System, ASUS_FLASH, Hewlett, so you can use your HP or Dell install discs. Since slic is Asus, install Asus cert after installing Vista.

Zort, if you have sometime can you help me to insert SLIC HP to this BIOS ? :)
I mostly do Award bioses, and MSI is touchier that most so I'll give the other modders a chance to do it first. :)
By the way there's a MSI thread here:

That's probably the better place to post it.

This Bios cannot be modded thus far. The modules I cannot locate manually or with tool. The headers are messed up or missing. We had a discussion some while back, and softmod is the answer. Maybe WOW patch:D:D That is what was done as AFAIK
These bios are not like the other MSI AMI bios. They are not AMICore8 or have other modifications done to them.
Apparently it's a EFI bios. See 2/10 post in this thread:

Reason - Some Dell or HP software I have on the discs does not run. Says is not a Dell Sistem or saying nothing for HP. ( I have already used the ASUS modded BIOS you linked to )
However on my old Gigabyte motherboard, I've modded myself the bios using ISA method, the HP software works. Dell - not all, unfortunatelly it still says this is not a Dell System.

The SSv3 for the AWARD is a mix between 0+2=0+2, OEM7, and the old SSv1 mod. It is not published in any tut. The process is a bit hard to explain, but it involves modding the main bios as well as some of the other modules.
At any rate, the bios is HP/HP now. Maybe if you would have added the Hewlett-Packard string with dmicfg, the programs would work??:D:cool:

Hi,
I have tied to activate Vista on my Samsung NC10 Netbook, but it doesn't work
1st I take a look at the SLIC Table with Everest (see Figure 1)
http://img7.myimg.de/NC10SLICEverestdb592.png
Figure 1: SLIC in Everest
2nd I dump the table with HWDirect (see Figure 2)
http://img7.myimg.de/NC10SLICHWDirect97036.png
Figure 2: SLIC in HWDirect
3rd I've saved the dump, download can be found here: http://netload.in/dateiV4FykztICw/NC10SLIC.bin.htm
4th I've compared the RSA certificate to the Samsung (LH43STAR) which can be found in some SLIC Packs oder Vista Activators. Result: They are identical
No I'm trying to activate Vista with the samsung.xrm-ms and some Vista Business serials from here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2581 but it doesn't work - Vista stays in trial mode.
I've no idea why this will not work, is it possible that Samsung uses asset tags like in Dell bioses?
Thanks a lot for same helpful information!
Best regards
Minski

The SSv3 for the AWARD is a mix between 0+2=0+2, OEM7, and the old SSv1 mod. It is not published in any tut. The process is a bit hard to explain, but it involves modding the main bios as well as some of the other modules.
At any rate, the bios is HP/HP now. Maybe if you would have added the Hewlett-Packard string with dmicfg, the programs would work??
Thanks, I will test it next week-end.
Pitty the SSV3 Award is not published as a tutorial. It could help. I've modded some time ago some bios using ISA method for SLIC and Pajero's way ( using WinHex ) for multi-SLP1, so I think I can handle it again if someone can explain.
I think the program wich does not work - in fact is the HP version for Media center - need for a combination of slic and oemcert. I didn't test dmicfg.
Pitty the SSV3 Award is not published as a tutorial.
There are notes included with my mods that show the general way to do it. It's probably good enough for people who've done oem mods. I hope to post more detailed instructions before too long with specific cbrom commands and hexedit instructions.

Works fine here....... Tried both BIOSes in the file, unticked force before AMIBIOSC string and fine both times. Will only throw RSDT modified error if the 4 bytes that are a pointer to the SLIC table are filled - are you sure you didn't point it to an already slic'd bios by mistake. Would somebody be so kind as to mod the latest revision of this for me? I've had a go, but not sure I've been too successful.. Found 911medics earlier version, which I'm using (thanks!) but for other reasons I need the latest.
The FC-mod tool fails to find the config lock in the 1b module (or something like that), though an FC module does exist.
The other tool says there's already a SLIC present... And I'm not sure that it's worked..

Assuming you were trying for an SSV3 mod - Select SSV3 and Tick the 'Use MMTool' box on front page and 'Automate MMTool' on the options page and try again. I am going to make these options default in the next version.

Note: In the original bios the qflash utility "SBF.BIN" was partially overwritten with a microcode update. I found a good copy of it from another BIOS and removed the top update so they wouldn't overlap. Let me know if this worked ok!
The ASUS slic is tested and works, have not tested the slp but looks fine when using everest to check the tables.

Thank you for the mod, but I'm having a problem. Vista Ultimate was already installed on my machine (x86), but installed initially without any key.
I updated the bios with the modified one, everything appears to be in order (flashed, then cleared CMOS, did this twice to make sure), used Everest to check that the SLIC table is there (it is and it's Asus). I then used the copy of the Asus certificate that was in the modified bios archive.
The certificate installs ok, then used an OEM SLP key 6fxxxxxx (etc.etc - the Asus one). The product key installs successfully, but Vista doesn't activate?
Any ideas?
Thanks once again.

Didnt work, will not activate. Thankyou for trying though.

I suspect some bytes of the SLIC have been overwritten in RAM by something else. I would need a memory dump to verify this and to pick a place that for sure would work, but first try this:

How to dump system area of RAM to help with Award SSV3 mod (for finding good slic location):
This works with 32-bit versions of Windows.
Run Winhex
Click Tools -> Open RAM
Physical Memory will be selected, Click OK.
Click Edit -> Define Block
Enter:
Beginning: E0000
End: FFFFF
Click OK
Click Edit -> Copy Block -> Into New File
Save it with a name such as "system.bin"
Upload somewhere and post a link to it, or pm the modder if you prefer.

Yep I should be able to get to it this weekend if no one beats me to it. Beta bioses, especially the A's (first build of new beta version) can be touchier. If it doesn't work we can always do F6. If you have extra time you could do a memory dump like in the above post. Otherwise we'll just pick a spot to try.
