Flash from DOS, first original bios with switches, power down, clear cmos, load defaults, Flash mod bios WITHOUT any switches.
Report back please :D
Thanks P4spooky, just need to clarify your given procedure. I already have bios rev. 0704 on the pc. Which i flashed ages ago.
I'm not understanding the "first original bios with switches" bit. particularly
"switches".
i realise this is a potentially damaging process, just want to get it right.
thnx

Since you're already running the same version 0704 don't worry about it. The main thing is to flash from DOS (afudos.exe) not Windows, no switches required. This is SSV3 which works for almost all Asus.

Did cmos reset then reset bios defaults, booted to floppy,
entered; afudos /ip4v800d-x-0704 -asus-slic.rom.
fdd whirred then just displayed the option to input bios or save bios.
Have I gone wrong somewhere.
Can anyone advise please.I'll be around all night figuring it out.

that worked a treat.
Just went from clony activated to 15 days left to ms activate NOW with limited function.
Now with your teams input win properties says windows is activated and my original product id is back to how it was.
Also everest now shows slic.
i am just going to finish inputting the asus licence and proper serial.
This all happened because of sp1 which knocked out the clonysoft.
I did uninstall the clony before bios mod reflash.
I'll post proper feedback when I have finished.
Thanks again.

Flash the unmodded version first (typically afudos /i<orig>.rom /pbnc /n) and then the modified bios with NO /pbnc /n switches.

I tried the bios mod for this board that is already on here but I get a checksum error. and the backup bios kicks in and over writes it. I can flash it just fine with the original f5 bios. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Hi p4spooky,
just noticed that start/all programs is showing loads of programs highlighted as if they are new programs, not a problem for me but thought I'd give some feedback.
also, everest/mobo/slic,facp and rsdt shows oem table id as notebook, which it isn't. again not really a problem but is there a way to edit this?

For Graceslic
I'm say sorry if i don't check your list, but i really need a ASUS SLIC MOD and p4spooky makes a specially mod for my board
The procedure is the same of the last mod:
1 Download the original bios and p4spooky mod copy this in a USB key Fat/Fat32 only (or floppy if you want but i'm not advice this)
2 Enter in the bios and lunch EZ Flash 2 and flash the original 0802 bios
3 the board reboot with cmos data deleted you must press F1 and load default setting. reboot
4 rename the original 0802.ROM in M3A78T.ROM for recovery bios
5 Enter in the bios and lunch EZ Flash 2 and flash the modded 0802 bios
6 the board reboot with cmos data deleted you must press F1 and load default setting, doing yours personal setting. reboot
That all OK Vista activaded (ultimate 32 and 64Bit)
I suggest you to reinstall Vista after checked that all is OK, too many change in this Bios, is only my personal opinion :D
Thanks

Since you were probably using F3, try updating to original F4, clear cmos, load setup defaults, and see if it boots into Windows. If that works then try updating to the modded version afterward. I can make a different modded one tonight if it doesn't. Going to work now!

Would someone please mod this bios for me?? WE have tried several times with SLIC3 and just can't get Vista to reg.. even with bootmanager.. The regular insertion method does not seem to be helping.
It is also my understanding the licence file and key has to be inserted manually.. ASUS type if you would please.. and any suggestions on how to get this bugger properly regged would be helpful.

OEM mod might not be possible with this bios then since that's 2 different methods that didn't work. There might be a chance of SSV3. I'll try to check that option tomorrow.

Nope, it's a new one made for you. You could wait for someone with the same motherboard to come around and try it, but there's no telling how long that could take. fzeven's been modding bioses for a long time. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi p4spooky, thanks for your quick reply!!
However there's a problem now.
Earlier I had already flashed with your previous SLIC-version (1613) for my ASUS P5QC and now it won't flash your new one. Actually it won't even flash anything else anymore. It won't even flash that earlier SLIC-1613 again...
The only thing it still can flash is a backup of the one that is in now (http://rapidshare.com/files/189168271/P5QC-ASUS-1613-ASUS-SLIC-BACKUP.ROM.html) (your 1613-SLIC, taken with afudos /o).
I used the newest afudos including /pbnc /n (also tried older versions), but it persists notifying:
ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID.
Hope you can have a look into this. Thanks!

Thanks!
ASUS, Heart "Touching" it is!
Sorry your are having issues. I got the 1702 bios (original) from ASUS website and redid the mod. Follow the instructions in the archive to the letter and report back please:

Also working here too!
Have you noticed that the F11 and F12 options have disappeared in BIOS setup (F11 = Save CMOS to BIOS, F12 = Load CMOS from BIOS)?
Also I can no longer find where to set the memory mode to Ganged as opposed to the current un-ganged.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi & thanks for your help!
It worked partly (until step 10, so afu229es got the original 1702 back in succesfully), but again it won't flash anything and gives the same error:
ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID.. I tried afu229es (without switches) too, but no luck...:(
It looks as if your ORIG1702.ROM is not identical to the 1702.ROM from Asus, as your step 5 eats your ORIG1702.ROM, but it doesn't accept the real original 1702 from Asus (it says ERROR: Rom file boot block is not valid.)
So at this point, the only thing that it allows me to do (even repeatedly), is flashing your ORIG1702.ROM. Anything else doesn't seem to work...
Would there be any other possible solution?
Thanks!

You can try this one: ASUS SLIC = http://slics.myftp.org/P5QC-ASUS-1702_SLIC.rar
I would suggest just flashing with AFUDOS from dos and no switches. None of the multi flash business..:D Rename it to 1702.rom may help also..
Clear cmos and load defaults after flash.
Good luck:D

Very good then!!..Did you flash with ezflash or afudos?
Thanks for the feedback.
One more question, did you remove the previous cert before installing the next.
I mean did you install asus, it activated..uninstall asus cert and install dell.
I am a bit interested in how this works for both manufacturers..This is something left in memory, or the certs are both still present and it is activating off of the asus cert..

The ASUS is still maintaining the activation. No problem. This bios will most likely not activate an install with only the dell cert installed. You said you preferred ASUS and I did ASUS. Do you want a dell also. I could do one at another time. I have to be away for a while now....;)

This is because AMIMMWIN changes a couple of bytes in the EBB header that EZflash doesn't like.

Hi all !
I'm just trying to activate my vista fr home basic with the key writen on the laptop but it doesn't works.
I installed an OEM Vista Home Basic without key and when i arrived on the desktop, i ran :
- slmgr.vbs -ilc acer.xrm-ms (which i had downloaded before)
- slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (which is the key for ACER that was writen on the sticker from MS on the back of the laptop)
..... activation seems not working, i flashed the bios with last version which link is here : ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_3100/bios/Bios%203.13.zip
I don't know what to do as i wanted to have a fresh install of vista and not the garbage one which is installed out of the box ...

I can make another if neither activate, but I would like to keep the acpitbl in the same spot. Let me know, I will check tomorrow...Remember the AWDFLASH is included, and clear cmos and load defaults after flash..
OK I retested the Bios here and I can confirm it does work. I used the first bios mod you put in the upload. I did not use the BB mod you put in it. Thanks.

I don't see any other boards with similar names, so it's probably the right motherboard and they just pulled 0606 for some reason. For best results update to original 0802 first and load setup defaults, then update to modded version.

Can anyone help me and mod this bios please? I *think* I need to mod my bios. ACPI Scope is all a bit overwhelming for me so I'm unsure but according to Everest I think my bios doesn't have a SLIC. I have the official current 1.23 bios already flashed.
-Motherboard Manufacturer : Fujitsu-Siemens
-Bios revision. 1.23
-Bios Type PHOENIX
-Bios Link. http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/Download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=E25D2085-D86D-4885-9FFD-ACE28B154389&OSID=665F4A20-6E31-43C3-82C2-D98CE773007C&Status=True&Component=Flash%20Bios%20for%20LIFEBOOK%20P7120
Many thanks
p.s. do I need to request a certain SLIC? Whichever is going to be best to install Vista but if it should go wrong I'll need to revert to my Fujitsu-Siemens XP manufacturer discs so I don't know what to ask for?! Sorry!

@911medic
First and foremost - many thanks. The good news is that the board does not hang, however the bad news is that there is no SLIC shown in EVEREST. Instead the ACPI table contains a table entry of M07 (part of the DELL string) and some corrupted strings inside. Boots fine but does not activate.
All the best

I transposed a couple of figures on the pointer address..this should work for you now..

The other pointer was looking ahead some number of bytes..Sorry. This is a bit experimental still, the ssv3 method for AWD...

OK thanks but now I'm confused. Before I have upgraded my bios in windows but i can't recall how to do that. Fujitsu-Siemens make it really difficult and have a whole load of options but I have only Windows and Disc in order to do this. I think I gave you the wrong link therefore?
There bios at all of these links - which one can be modded and should I use? I can't see any way to use the one you kindly modded for me.

I've just had another look through these three options and have absolutely NO idea which one to use. The site is a bloody mess with no help files and I simply can't remember how I eventually upgraded to bios to 1.23 before. I'm ever so sorry. I just recall doing it while in windows, it may have been command line while in windows. I recall it possibly being BUP but I think I'd rather use the CD image version if that is mod-able.
Sorry to be a pain - I have more options than I really want here don't I!

No this is the good bios i made, i just uncompress the iso to find the bios file, you just need to burn all the files to a bootable USB KEY and launch autoexec.bat
EDIT :
Or try this, i rebuilt the iso file with the mod bios :
