THX...SO MUCH..

I ASK YOU WHAT IS 3rd party bios???

The third party bios is a factory bios that has been reworked and modified by another person or company other than the board manufacturer. These bios have memory timings adjusted, additional options installed, updated modules, and, of course, SLP tables or srings that allow offline activation with boards that never offered this option..

Simply put, they are modified bios files..:D:D

I am glad the SLIC bios works for you, You are very welcome!!;)

No,it simply means that options were added or removed by someone else . That is basically it..:D Any modified or adjusted bios..

Could someone mod this BIOS with a slic for ASUS, DELL, HP, etc.? I have tried using the Automatic Super Static V3 tool and it reports back with two green lights that it was successful. However, when I flash my BIOS two different ways; with the emergency AMIBOOT.ROM recovery method and with booting into DOS and using the supplied AFUDOS tool, both give me a black screen upon reboot and continually access the floppy drive. I've tried clearing my CMOS both times as well. Perhaps this tool isn't the correct one. I would be willing to try a different method if someone has the instructions for me. Thanks so much.

thanks, it works!!

i updated to original f9c with q-flash util that is bundled with giga mobo. then i overwrote modded f9c with the same utility. works perfect, windows says it's activated.

to be sure, i double-checked with hp system tool and everest.

on everest, RSDT and SLIC tables are modded to _asus_ notebook.
on hp system diagnostics tool, "system bios" is modded to "_ASUS_ -42302e31 (11/10/08)"

windows is still activated after s3 boot.

hi all , thanks for the wonderful SLIC Bioses , thanks for alll
U guys rock

P5N32-E SLI 1601 i need it with ASUS SLIC for Vista x64 , BIOS NOT WORKING , i tried many versions , the one put on tested list is also not working . ALL BIOSES on this site work fine , i'm presently @ 1503

plz help me out with this bios

ALSO can i find a 3rd party bios for p5n32-e sli , which is modded for overclocking and performance ,

I NEED a bios which has both SLIC and SLP tables ,

THANKS A LOT ONCE AGAIN

Please try these steps:

1)Flash original unmodded 1601 from DOS with these switches to clear out old settings:
awdflash 1601.bin /cc /cp /cd /f
2)Try booting into Windows. (It won't be activated but that's OK for the moment. We just need to see if it loads correctly with the new version.)
3)If it DOES boot into Windows then try upgrading from the original 1601 to 1601 with the pubkey/marker added (same link as before):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/emt0rd
When you flash this time though, no switches are necessary:
awdflash 1601.bin
4)Try booting into Windows again. If it works you're all set. If it doesn't work then we will try a different kind of mod.
Note: If it doesn't work you may have to use EZ-Flash to downgrade to 1503 again. Additionally you may have to flash 1503 again with the switches:
awdflash 1503.bin /cc /cp /cd /f
(If you don't use /f the pubkey/marker may remain from the previous mod.)

Well, Sorry to say you that you just killed my motherboard with your mod ...
Since then even the previous version moded by Joealvin does not work and even the unmoded / original version do not work.

The PC boot only one time in 10 atempts and never succeds to open Vista ...

I think you clearly lack of the required skills.

I will have to buy a new motherboard !

I dont think spooky's skills need be called into question. His intention was not to brick your board. Recovery is most likely still possible if the board will boot to DOS or even into the bios..

Have you tried the AMIBOOT recovery method? There is a thread here for your reference..Here.. (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2105)

How was the flash attempted? This is important......

I will have to buy a new motherboard !

First flash the official version of the bios in DOS using afudos:
http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/AFUDOS236.zip

Then turn off computer and change position of "clear cmos" jumper for a few seconds. Return it to normal position before turning computer back on.

Load setup defaults, save and exit.

If computer works normally then update to modded version of the same bios version.

You would not need to buy a new motherboard. Even if you couldn't reflash the BIOS you could get a new preprogrammed bios chip sent from Asus or if you preferred a third party (http://www.biosman.com/). If you weren't comfortable swapping chips, you could send it to Asus and get to repaired for free. Their motherboards have 3 year warranties. I think if you follow the steps above you will be back to normal though.

Flash from DOS with FLASHSPI. Feedback please:D

Bad news from me... it does not seem to work. I used mobo's builtin Qflash utility: first from modded F5C -> original F6A, which went well. After update to modded F6a a CMOS Checksum error message was shown after reboot, I pressed F1 to continue. After reboot the mobo would not go past the first screen.

No worries though; I have successfully used QFlash to revert back to modded F5c. My Vista is still activated.

Would you like to have a go at F6? It seems to have a more recent date than the F6A. F6 has the date 2008/12/23 while F6a has the date 2008/12/03.

Thnaks guys for your support. It looks like the board is NOT dead. Just follow Zort's directions and get the official version flashed first and confirm everything is working normally.

As modders we try to help. With any BIOS mod, done by anyone there is risk involved. If you are a novice and don't know how to recover or follow procedures outlined on numerous threads here, you have no business requesting a mod. Remember flashing is ALWAYS a risk

Post your system settings and I will try to help. Looks like you are having stability issues than a bad bios flash

EDIT:::Use Spookys first..then this if the first doesn't work..Subtle differences I am sure:D

Okay ... Well I recognize my error when restarting the PC after install the BIOS (only with the latest Afudos / not with EZFlash) ...

I forgot to reset the DDR3 memory speed to the lowest possible value i.e. 903 MHz. Stock Speed is 1.333 MHZ but doesn't work at all ! The Manual settings instead of Auto ... And the FSB Bus Speed at 450 MHz which after multiplication is stands roughly at ~ 1.8 GHz.

Therefore I got a QuadCore Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz Stock Speed running at 3.6 GHz which makes Vista flying ... I got it running at 3.9 GHz but it would be unstable if you want to stress the DDR3 memory.

This DDR3 Motherboard is a mess to get it working ... Still Asus keep giving updates to fix memory problems ...

Well thank you guys for the SLIC mod. Not forgettings to set back the good settings I had it worked like a charm ... :D

By the way I installed the version 1702 from 911medic. Knowing I initially got in trouble with the version 1702 of p4spooky. I might test the p4spooky version in a few days. However by looking at it's code I don't see any differences with the 911medic version.

So thanks again guys ! :)

Im glad you got sorted out..Overclocking is not a good match for bios flash...any bios flash.

The basic diff between spookys and mine is probably in the checksum adjustments. Check mine against the factory..:D It is a small difference, but it is what I do..

yep...I wonder if the flash is a bit hinkey on some of these. We tried the isa on the custom f5 a while back and it was hit and miss. I have also seen isa work from one modder and not another?? whats up with that...

Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H rev 1.1

This BIOS looked similar to Atlantis' bios, so I did same kind of oem mod.
Motherbard won't boot anymore; only fans are spinning, but not POSt or beeps.

OK Try this one. Custom OEM mod..

Flash from DOS with FLASHSPI. clear cmos and load defaults.. (if you can get to bios-:D:eek:)

You did it! Looks like this one is working. The mini logo picture is random pixels, but who cares about that. I'm playing around with it now, will let you know if something is wrong, but so far so good.
(For anyone interested, it's the GA-EX58-DS4 Bios F4).

CMOS clear and forced flash via floppy do not work :(

If you're not getting video and you're using the onboard video, you can try putting a video card in. If you're able to get the first post screen you can press End to launch Qflash to reflash.

If you're using 4GB RAM you can try taking some out.

If you can't get video and can't get it to boot to a floppy then you may have to RMA the motherboard.

Sorry you had this problem. The only module that was moved was epa to end so overall was a relatively safe mod to try. It may have been a bad flash. :(

I had to change the mini logo for the space. Sorry about the picture. Please do not try to change it with the epabmp program or some BS like that.

This should be good now. I will see about the logo. I tried something different and it should be black. I guess there was some I missed..

one qn before I get around to flshing it. I've a software bootloader installed. Do I have to uninstall it? Because I am suspecting that if I uninstall it, Vista will go into "reduced functionality" mode and I wont be able to install the asus certificate?

You can probably rearm or do the safe mode thing. I dont think it will hurt to flash, then go into the OS and remove the bootloader. the cert and serial may already be installed, Am I right??

Yep, the Asus certs are already installed. I flashed with Abit FlashMenu (in vista), rebooted, uninstalled the loaders with VOATKToolsv.2.5, reboot and Vista Ultimate is still activated. I tried to change the cdkey to "6F2D7-2PCG6-YQQTB-FWK9V-932CC" (Asus/Ultimate) and it still stays activated.

Hi all!
Sorry to read this. I just tested the F6D BIOS Mod listed in the "All Slics Tested and Untested (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2967)" Thread (It's about two thirds down the first page and does not show up with the Search!) three days ago and it worked perfectly well. I did the Flash from an old USB Flash-Drive which i formatted as a bootable USB-Drive. It worked straight away. So i would like to make this Post a positive confirm for this BIOS Mod. Maybe it is a different mod than the one from Zort, i'm not really sure.

So here it is:
Manufacturer: Gigabyte
Board: GA-MA78GM-S2H rev. 1.1
Bios-Type: AWARD
Bios rev: F6D
SLIC: ASUS
Modder: Zort?? not sure though...
Vista activ. state: ACTIVATED
Link to file: Deleted by uploader.
If you still want to try it (on your own risk) request it from the Modder! I still have it at my home PC as well and could also re-upload it if someone wants to take the risk, but since there is only one positive and one negative confirm i would rather advise not to try and request a better, new mod.

Remember: this board does not have a dual BIOS!! It is not as easy to recover as the "big" Gigabyte boards with dual BIOS!!

Hi Gollum, Thanks for the update. I deleted the upload after Polyphemus' report. Since it worked for you I don't mind reuploading it if someone else wants to try it. It would be nice to know how Polyphemus flashed it, because it may have been a bad flash. Usually if a mod doesn't work right people can at least reflash with qflash to recover and try another. I can also remake this with a different method like 0+2 if someone prefers.

GA-EP45 UD3R F5 Modded Bios here Asus SLIC

ONLY FLASH in pure DOS, from boot disk or PEN FLASH DRIVE USING ONLY FLASHSPI

bios file link = http://www.sendspace.com/file/5jcyoe
flashspi link = http://www.sendspace.com/file/jec6zc
autoexe link = http://www.sendspace.com/file/msphjc

PLACE ALL 2 OF THESE ON A DOS START UP DISK or on a pen drive, IN THE SAME DIRECTORY.

type at dos prompt, making sure all files are in same directory;

flashspi ud3r.f5.bin

let flashspi do its job. FLASH ONLY FROM NON OVERCLOCKED ENVIORMENT!!

WAIT AT LEAST 10 SECONDS until FLASHSPI SAYS IT IS FINISHED FLASHING..

POWER DOWN BY EITHER UNPLUGGING OR SWITCHING OFF THE PS'S STANDBY BUTTON.
in other words, MAKE SURE AFTER U HAVE WAITED at least 10 seconds, you totally disconnect the power..

wait 5 seconds, then power back on.

Using this method, I have NEVER had one bad flash in 15 years, since I got into computers at that time!!

This is how you avoid bad flashes.. Use this technique as well in ALL THINGS your flash, and u wil NEVER have one bad flash, except if there is an act of nature that screws it up like a power outtage.

or you simply SCREW UP YOURSELF!!

Zort,
Polyphemus said in his post he flashed from DOS and a Floppy. This usually works. I also remember after flashing the board (from USB Drive and Q-Flash) didn't start at all, but after giving it a 12v signal via the start button it would just boot normally. i didn't pay much attention to this first hick-up, since boards often do that also without a mod....

I would test another bios if you could just do it today. the Board is my little brother's board an he will be gone on the 3rd of January. so last chance tonight or tomorrow early. i think it would be wise to test another one since this first one seems not be quite stable. my problem is, that this board has no described bios recovery procedure. it only says in the manual that there is a virtual dual bios, but i could not find any procedures for recovery on the gigabyte website. the flash is 8Mbit but the bios only 4Mbit, so i suppose there is a baxkup bios in the chip itself, which of course is not as secure as a sepparate second bios chip.
if you have any experience with GA Virtual Dual BIOS i would appreciate a hint since i cannot find anything to that matter!
Thank you,
Gollum

Try this ACER SLIC = http://slics.myftp.org/ECS P965T-A Rev1.0b_ACER_SLIC.rar

How did you attempt to add slic to this file? Can you tell me how you flashed this, and have you modified the .BIN at all. The one in the threads has been tested..It should have worked.
The epa logo seems screwy:eek:

Feedback please!!

Hi there, Windows is Activated
Thanks everso for that, was beginning to wonder if it was somthing I was doing wrong.
First tried the one in the threads with winflash - disaster, dead board. After panicking, found an old eprom programmer and flashed bios from website and all was well again. Then tried modding using the manual method (as I had been sucessfull in the past) This just made pretty blocks all over the screen.
Lastly tried in dos for both and also from the programmer - no go.
Each time trying (using the programmer) a good known bios to test the chip and board wern't damaged.
And finally your bios - all perfect.
Conclusion, winflash is useless in all respects, dos flash some success, programmer - life saver, and finally 911medic - bios god:)
Thanks again and Happy New Year

That was a quick one! I thank you again.

I can also tell you this one works. I forgot to clear the CMOS, but I did load defaults before and after flashing, then I reconfigured my BIOS and everything works like before. I could post a screenshot confirming that Vista is activated, if required/wanted.

He tried to boot to a floppy to recover but never said how he flashed it originally. If the initial hiccup you had was in powering on, then I would guess it wasn't due to the mod but the flash process and electrical state of the mb at that moment since it has to power on before it can read the bios. If you haven't had any further issues then there's probably no need to update the bios again. If you'd like to try a different mod anyway here's one with a black epa and nocompress under the epa. There's no way to know whether it will work better or worse without trying it, but it seems like sometimes keeping everything above like this works better than adding things to the end (I think depending on what modules are at the end already). I don't know how the Virtual DualBios works. I'd be interested to find out more about it too.

Very sorry about that, please try the following:

1. Shutoff power
2. Clear CMOS (adjust jumper on the board)
3. Startup and see if it boots.

This board has crash free bios and should give you the option to recover if you have a corrupted bios.

Let us know if this worked.

OK Zort. I'll try tomorrow morning. I'm really scared though. I don't know what to do if the flash fucks up. I'm rather sure that Gigabyte has no good recovery procedure like asus has. If there's no dual bios i suppose it will be hard to recover. i will think it over and let you know tomorrow. if it goes all wrong i might have to buy a new board for my bro and that really sucks.
well, lets see tomorrow...

Zort,
I now did try it. Even though i was really scared :D

Result: Boot worked well, no issues. Vista runs quite normal. Only thing i noticed was Catalyst being shut down by some appcrash event right after the start. This i noticed with some other boards as well after applying a modded bios. It causes no further problems though as catalyst is being re-started and working well after that. i s'spose its due to default CMOS settings and thus different VGA Chip behaviour after a flash. Cannot compare this to the other bios mod since i had no catalyst installed when flashing it then. Guess it would be quite the same. Vista activates without a hitch.

So here's the confirm according to the Rules :D :

Yeah, weird..I must wonder if it is the bios and not the mod...it seems the type of mod would not affect the settings..in my opinion, anyway:D
I guess i owe you an apology m8, and sorry for such a delayed reply — i just recently had a time to investigate it finally somewhat further. In brief, this mobo has some major glitches with o/c when all 4 memory slots are occupied. Even though it for some reason would boot with previous bios, it would fail memtest/prime95 as well even with mild o/c.
And as for your bios mod — it works just fine, so good job and thanks a lot.

Zort,
Polyphemus said in his post he flashed from DOS and a Floppy.

Thank you,
Gollum

Gollum, zort,

Sorry for the late reply.

I flashed the bios via Q-flash form an USB drive.

The strange thing is, that the board does react to soft-off (4 seconds power button pressed), but I don't know if the bios is controlling that...

Can you explain me how to "give it a 12v signal via the start button" ?

Hi Polyphemus,
Thanks for letting us know the flash method. Qflash is better than from Windows, but DOS is still the best. You'd have to ask gollum about applying the 12v, but his situation was different from yours. I think your bios got corrupted while flashing somehow. I think he applied 12v to the power switch to get it to power on the first time but that probably wasn't related to the mod itself but something about the state of the board after the flash process. Since yours is turning on but not getting anywhere I think the BIOS didn't get flashed correctly on your mb. Sorry you had this problem. Hopefully once it is fixed one of the two mods will work for you!

Hello Polyphemus!
Unfortunately there is nothing special about that 12v signal. I should have said that i pressed the power butten once or twice, that had made things more clear i guess.
i was just using the term "12v Signal" because i believe that it was what helped the board to start after the flash - it just needed a short wake-up pulse. Usually, when you hit ESC to restart after a flash from Qflash the boards restart by themselves. Mine didn't right away, so i just hit the power butten once or twice and it came back online. Hitting the Power button as you do when you start your pc initiates a short 12v Signal on the boards. Thats called "INIT" and happens even in Mobile Phones, with a different voltage though. Its the normal process of starting an electronic device. In this case its a 12v Signal (so nothing mystrious about it, sorry). It then gave me some cmos checksum bullsh** because it had not reset CMOS by itself as it actually should have and after clearing cmos manually it just started normal. so all that happened was some hiccup with the flashing or not even that but rather some hiccup while the cmos was cleared.
I'm really sorry to hear that you messed up your board.
Asus has a revovery procedure where you can insert the original driver cd and hit some keys on yur keyboard and then the board reads an emergency bios from the disk.
i suppose that gigabyte has something very similar, they have "Virtual Dual Bios" on that board but they don't explain how it works. I believe though that they have a boot-routine in the BIOS Chip which never gets flashed. So, if you encounter a bad flash, the boot-routine is still there and enables you to read some emergency bios from some source.
it says that the BIOS Chip is 8Mbit big, but the BIOS File itself is only half of that size, so i believe there is an emergency bios on-chip. how to access it? i believe that should have happened automatically.
But maybe, maybe, virtual dual bios also means you can access some sort of drive. have you tried to insert the original driver disk, then start the pc again? maybe with holding shift key or F1 or something like this? Or have you maybe written a support request to technical support at gigabyte? they certainly explain how you recover a virtual dual bios board.
i have read some stuff about virtual dual bios back in the past but cannot fully remember what it said. i only remember that i thought back then that gigabyte try to save money by saving one bios chip and implementing a routine just like asus has. i thought that that was a bad idea and that the GA routine is very similar to the Asus routine. so i suppose you put in a floppy with a good bios or the original disk and try to boot somehow. AND: contact GA support!!

Very sorry about that - looks like these boards do not like a SSV2 mod. I will let Medic handle this. Glad you were able to recover. I double checked the mod bios and it is correct. Did you shut off power and clear CMOS AFTER the flash before re-starting. Sometimes Asus boards after a flash will appear dead until you clear CMOS and shut power to the board. Please confirm that you did this.

Sorry for the Super late reply, but I was out of town, and then had to send board in for RMA. Got it back, and finally tried it over the holidays.. Figured I'd finally comment.

Modified BIOS above for Tyan S2696
Windows server Std 2008 (64 bit edition) activated automatically like a charm.

Just one glitch I encountered... Figured I'd share experience (just in case). After flashing, the system seemed to reboot automatically on it's own. However it came back beeping, and black.. I thought it was bricked.. Tried a few more times, and still dead (just a short and long beep.. I then opened up the machine, put the jumper tot he "clear CMOS" setting for a few seconds, put it back. Powered up and it was fine... Maybe some of the options from the older BIOS which was installed on my board (1.02) had a conflict with the new BIOS.

Anyhow, tried it on 2 machines, and both worked perfectly with Win2008 Server 64bit Dell OEM edition. No longer need to look for patches, bootloaders, or whatever. Just get latest edition from the office and works like a charm :)

BIG THNX to all of you, and happy new year.:D

Could someone re-upload this bios file for me? It seems it's already deleted from rapidshare link. Thanks for your help.

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model :
-Bios revision F9 2006/05/11 and F10C Beta
-Bios Type : AWARD Modular
-AWARD BIOS Type: AWARD Modular BIOS v6.00PG
-Slic: ASUS
-Modder: phrunt
-Included is the F9 Final and F10C Beta Bios, i'd recommend the F9
-Modded BIOS link: http://rapidshare.com/files/46618046/Gigabyte_GA-K8N-SLI-asus_slic-phrunt.rar.html

I recommend the F9 bios, the F10C beta is a modified bios with cool 'n quiet and so on but it's not very well tested, I used one of the same modded ones on my board which became really unstable and often locked up, I had to flash back.

Please try this: http://www.box.net/shared/i8e05dvp7b

Flashing Procedure: Flash from DOS ONLY

1. Flash 1201 ORIGINAL BIOS with Asus tool and recommended switches
2. Rebbot
3. Load setup defaults
4. Reboot
5. Flash 1201 modified with Asus tool without any switches
6. Reboot
7. Load setup defaults
8. Reboot

Report back please

Work Fine ;), the only "problem" was needed to do a clearing CMOS after flashing, nothing more
