Thank you 911medic for your effort. I will try it and feedback.
Could you tell me where to find FLASHSPI and if there are any instructions for using it ?
Thanks again.
HERE>>.. (http://slics.myftp.org/FLASHSPI_EP-45.rar)It is a dos based flash tool. Boot to dos with bootdisk, put the tool and a bios on a cd or floppy, and flash with FLASHSPI <biosname.f5>.
This bios is not on the GB website. They list an f5 revision for the UD3P version, but only f4 for the UD3R board. Are you sure this is the correct bios? Is it custom...? I am a bit intrigued..why not use official bios release from GB..
Anyway, here is the tool..
ASUS SLIC = http://slics.myftp.org/K8NF4G-SATA2(1.70)ASROCK_ASUS.rar
Flash with ASRFLASH from DOS with no switches. clear cmos and load defaults post flash..
Good luck and please report:D:D
Sorry, it did not work and i haven't been able to recover the bios. Thanks for trying and don't worry about the board, now I have an excuse to upgrade.
I may play with the board in my spare time but I can't get it to look for the amibios.rom on the floppy.

Asrock removed the recovery option, I believe..I apologize for the problem:(
Some work and others don't, it is a shame that asrock does not allow bios recovery, it should be mandatory given the nature of bios flashing and the failure rate..
Again, I am sorry for you...

SLIC = ASUS mod BigErnM, tested by Rorschck
Dear BIOS Killers,
Yesterday I was searching for modified version of BIOS 7F7. I have found it on korean forum. The post was on the following webpage : https://bbs.et8.net/bbs/showthread.php?t=895060.
Modder states, that SLIC is Dell. Activates XP and Vista.
I have downloaded BIOS which was modified by korean modders... but the name of the file is a bit different from original Gigabyte's and the archive contained only one file except three. So i have decided to ask for help here...
Can anyone help me? I don't belive in korean BIOS modifiers...

Well, it is true I didn't use DOS and made it via Asus Update - Everest detected no SLIC...since all previous versions were flashed by Asus update and SLIC was always OK, I supposed this mod as a wrong one...and just to be sure I flashed mobo with the latest previous mod (1201 intead of 1301) via Asus EZ Flash directly from bios and then everything was OK, Everest detects SLIC as usual...
So to make you sure, tomorrow I'll try to flash via bios and afudos as well and then give you feedback into this thread... ;)

attempted to use it, wouldnt flash. thanks anyway. :)
Too bad. In that case I think FILE1.ROM must not be movable. The uncompressed FILE1.ROM does have text strings "SST" and "Winbond" in it, so it is probably flash related. If it can't be moved up then the only other way to increase the ACPI table size would be to shift the 6 modules that follow it down, but that seems even less safe.
Your bios:
stn.bin
cpucode.exe
AWARDEXT.ROM
FILE1.ROM
AWARDEYT.ROM
ACPITBL.BIN
crisis.bin
audiodj.bin
mbios3.bin
l5c0814a.bin
asusosb.bin
osb640.bin
FF bytes
award decompression bios
FF bytes
other code
award boot block
zeroes
other code
The only other possibility is to edit other text strings in the ACPI like "creator id" and "creator revision" to try to make the new compressed ACPI the same size as the old one. It might be possible...

-Custom BIOS with GUI
-http://rapidshare.com/files/168166313/68POU.BIN.7z.html
-SLIC requested: HP (for obvious reasons... ;))
The unit came with Vista Business 32 Bit preloaded, so it's possible that there's already something installed in the BIOS. However, I have no recovery media except for a factory restore partition at the end of the disk, so I'm not sure how the activation got handled.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
EDIT: Okay, never mind. I just tried to activate Vista Ultimate X64 with the HP certificate and key. It worked flawlessly. So there's no need for patching at all - it works out of the box.

Well it's tested. Maybe you do not flash in DOS or you forgot the certficate.
What tells Everst?
GraceSlic
So yesterday I tried to flash via EZ flash, no success, no detected slic by everest, then I flashed via EZ flash with the latest previous version (from the tested slic thread) and everything is ok, slic detected as usual. It's strange, because the previous version was ok not only by ez flash but also via asus update (actually all previous versions I flashed successfuly via asus update).
That's why I'm little sceptical of tha last mod of 1301 "tested" by bad_girl...well, tha last chance is afudos (I don't like this method :D ), then I'll send the final feedback...

I did (i mean the unmodified) with eqflash and everything is fine. With the modded one , i tried first with flashspi and didn't work. The recover processs started , then i tried to flash it with eqflash ..... the same recovery procedure.

Just to follow up. I originally tried the AMI Slic3 tool and got an error "Slic already present". I had read in the forums other's that had the same problem when using the tool so I assumed it didn't work. Unfortunately because I didn't check the results of the 1b module. It caused me alot of trouble for nothing. It turns out that even though the AMI Slic3 tool gives that error, it still Mod's the bios correctly. Or at least for this Bios. Just thought I'd mention that for others who get this error to extract and check the 1b module.

You could simply install an asus cert..or use this bios..http://slics.myftp.org/motherboard_bios_ga-ep43-ds3l_f8_DELL_SLIC.rar
I don't mind the change from asus slics..honest..:D:D
Just install the new digital certificate:
slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\asus.xrm-ms
If necessary this command will remove old product key, and probably certificate as well:
slmgr.vbs -upk

Is there any way that i could recover the bios ?

I think usually Dell BIOS cannot be modified because it is more proprietary. It's interesting that they have a Linux version for this model though. petar has a successful mod of a Vostro 1310. Maybe he can take a look at this.

That's surprising because the only module moved was the epa logo. But there is another way to do this which is to move acpi table up. Were you able to reflash the original BIOS to get it working again? If you want to try the other method let me know.

Zort,
Yeah, the boards working again (whew). I'll try anything, is it especially risky?
There's always some risk but it's not particularly dangerous. The first way (putting the oem module where the epa logo is and readding the logo at the bottom) is what I'd expect to be the safest way which is why I tried it first, but since that didn't work the other way is worth a try. I can add the oem module at the end of the bios and leave the epa logo where it is. The compressed system bios will need to be reduced approx. 20 bytes by spacing some text, and the xgroup and acpi table moved up the same number. I will try to do it tomorrow night. I'm glad you're working in the meantime.

Im flashed the BIOS from Windows with AFUWIN and then recovered using AMI BOOTBLOCK BIOS (amiboot.rom)
Flash from DOS..Do not use switches (for recovery of bootblock)..It may work better..winflash is no good (opinion):D
Was the bios modded by manual or mod-tool (AMI_SLIC)??

Is there any way that i could recover the bios ?
Here's a bootable floppy disk image with official F4 BIOS for your mb. You can use Winimage to write it to a floppy disk.

Sorry it's not working, raffitaffy. I'm glad that at least you're able to reflash to a working one. Since neither way worked, I'm wondering if cbrom changes the checksum bytes in a way that your bios/mb doesn't like. Or maybe it doesn't like extra oem modules. If you want to try it I could add it as /nocompress instead, but I don't know if it will make any difference.

ISA mods (Tommy version) usually work on Gigabyte. But I saw you already tried that a couple times, so in that situation oem is the best option. I'll look at it some more and let you know if I see any other good mod option. (SLIC might be able to go in system but that would make it a lot bigger.) Otherwise, there is always Wow5 & Vistaloader-- I'm sure one of those would work if bios mod will not.

Wow, the machine really started freaking out after this flash. Glad I got it back. Thanks for your work, but it's no go. Bummer.
It was definitely worth a try. The ones I made were with epa at the bottom, and oem7 at the bottom. fzeven's was acpi at bottom. When I saw it I kicked myself for forgetting to try that. :) I think cbrom may be updating checksums in a way that the gigabyte bios/mb doesn't like. I asked Yen about this, and I'll upload a new one later either by me or him. I think a cbrom-free one is worth a try if you're interested. Also first choice for flashing is flashspi from dos. I would just use qflash as a backup method.

That's good news raffitaffy! No need to try more BIOS'es then. The ISA is preferable over OEM7 anyway since it's dynamic. I thought one of the ISA mods you'd tried previously was Tommy's but maybe they weren't.

- Motherboard Manufacter And Model : LANPARTY LT X38-T2R
- Bios Revision : 2008-10-02
- Bios Type :
- Bios SLIC : ASUS (the oldest one if possible)
- Bios Link : http://img.lanparty.tw/Upload/BIOS/CM/X38ADA02.zip
Thanks have not updated my bios since January, need to get this done, for the 45nm chip I just got. Thanks
Sorry, but bumping this for some help, sure would appreciate it if someone had a chance to look at this one, and take care of it for me. Thanks
try this please

slic=asus
bios type=award
tell me if it working and give me a note about the custom logo in PM
Bios is not working, not that it won't activate, but actually fails when initializing, had to hot swap a bios chip back to old bios to fix it.
Thanks for trying
If you wouldn't mind have a go at this version http://img.lanparty.tw/Upload/BIOS/CM/X38AD821.zip I would suggest avoiding the logo change, from the bios code error on the board itself, this may be the error.
911Medic, I think I am in need of your services...

Hi: This BIOS was modified by 911Medic and I tested it successfully. It has the ASUS Slic:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=41402&postcount=14683
I have tried this version, and it works fine. However, that's a old version. ECS released a new firmware for G33T-M2 on 09/22/08. Anyway, thank you for your reply.

Decided that it was better to do the work rather than getting someone else to do it for me.
It seems to have been a success as my vista ultimate is activated again and all is running fine.
Here it is if anyone else wants to use it.
GigaByte EP35 DS3R F13c Beta
slic = Asus
http://rapidshare.com/files/169980269/Gigabyte_ga-p35-ds3r_F13c.BIN.html
I dont have anywhere better to host it, if the link goes dead let me know as I will be keeping a copy it.
For anyone else thinking about it, the tutorials are very good and it was a straight forward process (esp with a dual-bios mobo just in case)

So if I have understood this correctly, these modifications unlocks all sliders in BIOS that is originaly locked by the manufacturer?
If that's the case I've got a PackardBell Auckland (Asus M2N-NVM OEM) motherboard with socket AM2.
Here's the latest BIOS. (http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=6993400100&pi=platform_honeymoon_imedia)

Thanks for modding BUT....
Vista cannot activate. I registered ASUS SLIC and serial number. -dlv tells me I am in the Grace period.
OS X is working fine.
I already know how to get the SLIC working because I did that on my P5K Premium (with ASUS SLIC)
If you could fix, that would be great :)

If you could fix, that would be great :)did you clear cmos and load defaults to the bios..
If so, please upload ACPIscope .ats file if you could. I could maybe use the FC module..

Yes, I loaded defaults and saved.
Let me reformat Vista, overclocking corrupted it (luckily I put very little work in it).
I'll install ACPIscope a bit later
