I am sorry, phoenix is not my thing. Maybe Petar can help, he seems to be very good with these..Good luck with the repair..
@arden, here is a mod for you to try.
http://rapidshare.com/files/164418979/DH8X8167.zip
Flash from DOS by running FLASH.BAT.
@911medic, it wasnt your fault that the mod failed...
PBE seems to decompressed the bios badly.
Look at the size of BIOSCOD0.ROM at your mod (33KB), while at the original the size is 35KB.
Decompress the bios several times to compare the size of BIOSCOD modules and make a temp colection of BIOSCOD modules with the largest sizes.
Paste them in to the temp directory of PBE before you do the mod.

Flash ORIGINAL BIOS with the bat file (with all switches), Reboot, load setup defaults, reboot, then flash modded BIOS from DOS WITHOUT any switches.
Please provide feedback
Flash ORIGINAL BIOS with the bat file (with all switches), Reboot, load setup defaults, reboot, then flash modded BIOS from DOS WITHOUT any switches.
I think that is the best way for people to do it too. If the BIOS you're currently using is not the the same version as the modded one, follow those steps.
- Flash original new version from mfr. (When upgrading to a newer version use switch to clear CMOS to remove any invalid settings from previous version.)
- Load Setup defaults (and make any other changes you want to), Save and Exit
- Boot into Windows once to fully test, unless your current Windows relies on the mod for activation.
- After doing those things and everything looks good flash the modded BIOS of same version.

OK,..So,...I have an ASUS M2N32 SLI-Deluxe that has a "Legit" version of Vista Ultimate x64 running as its' O.S.,...Six Gb of RAM, and about 2.7 Tb of Drive space. I've been trying for TWO days now to re-flash the BIOS (which I believe is the ORIGINAL BIOS from 2 years ago!,...yeah,..I know,...but it's been running alright up til now,...if it's not broke,..don't fix it, true?).
I've gone to the ASUS web site,...downloaded the 2101.bin file and the latest flash tool "AWDFLASH132.zip" and unpacked it, right?.....so,....I then first attempt (which turned into 6-7 times) to open up in DOS @ start-up,..type in "AWDFLASH132.EXE 2101.bin /F",...and I get a pop-up error screen that says something to the effect of "This program is NOT compatible with the currently intalled 64 bit O.S. Contact the manufacturer for....blah!..blah!..blah!..."
(EVERYONE WITH ME SO FAR?) So,..THEN,....I try the "EZ-FLASH" utility in the existing BIOS and try BOTH,..a USB install,...and a CD-R install of the 2101.bin file,....and STILL NOTHING,...it won't even CONSIDER flashing the newly up-dated BIOS. I'm also not sure if doing this is going to screw up my "Legit" Vista-Ultimate x64 OS status of Legitimacy. I mainly use this 'puter for recording my bands' music and playing movies,...and I'll admit that I'm NOT the most "'puter-literate" individual out there. So,...with that said,....
Could SOMEONE PLEASE help me/ this.......PLEASE?
Thank You in Advance for the Assistance.:mad::eek::confused:

You should probably flash this one. Gigabyte boards and the muyu isa dont have good Hx in my experience. The mod I have given you has the tommiy sp1 isa module so it should help with sleep functions. It should work if you flash with flashspi from dos. Pure dos and not simply a prompt. No qflash or recovery flash or winflash..:D

Hi, I have a Dell Precision 470 and was wondering if someone could whip together a BIOS mod for it. I've tried using a softmod (Vistaloader 3 and WoW5) and both didn't work. I have a feeling there are some SLIC entries in the bios.
Computer: Dell Precision 470
OS: Vista 64bit Ultimate
BIOS Version: A07
Link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&deviceid=258&libid=1&releaseid=R119956&vercnt=8&formatcnt=0&SystemID=WRK_PNT_P4_470&servicetag=&os=BIOSA&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1
Type: Not sure but it seems Phoenix is the trend with Dell
Thanks
@eradicator006
It's probably worth you trying this method:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3486
It's 100% safe but it'll only work if the (any) P470 ever came pre-installed with Vista. Let me know how you get on because I've got a P670 gathering dust and I'll dig it out and mod it if you get any joy.

Hi
I have been playing around with the tools here. I think the correct tool would be the ami slic3 tool however, when I compare the previously posted working 1307SLIC version with the one I generate from using the tool on 1307 they are very different (binary compare).... Is ami slic3 the right thing to use?
Cheers,
Andy

Using AMI SLIC3 20080419 - different. Few bytes different in region of 2b260 (binary compare). Lots different around 5CFB0. Then a few byte changes periodically and some 0xFF padding near the end.
I am going to try to work thru the manual method posted here and see how I go.

Yen, you are one halfgod... The modded bios working fine on vista 32 and 64!
Sorry for this long period, but i tested all two operation system. BIOS install under MS-DOS :FLASH895 ma79xds5.f6, reboot, F1 (boot) and FINE!!!! Then reinstall!!!!! Vista, enter oem serial number under installation, then running asus.xrm-ms and Vista (my was Ultimate) is actived both (32/64) system. A little thing, original logos is changed: energy star logo is missed and dual bios logo is blue (the original was yellow...) Can you this fixed? When no: no problem, you are the best.;)
Descent7 from Hungary
Question is for Yen.
Is it imperative that flashing be done from DOS?
Can it be done from within Windows Vista using Gigabyte flashing program @BIOS?
Or can it be done by using Gigabyte's Q-Flash utility during boot (no need for floppy)?

Question is for Yen.
Is it imperative that flashing be done from DOS?
Can it be done from within Windows Vista using Gigabyte flashing program @BIOS?
Or can it be done by using Gigabyte's Q-Flash utility during boot (no need for floppy)?
Solracna
I don't know, since I cannot try. I always advise to use the manufacturers DOS related tools....
I don't prefer to flash from XP / Vista. Most bricked boards came from XP / Vista flashtools....
The FLASH895 ma79xds5.f6 command is confirmed to work, the other ways not (yet).....why don't you create a bootable DOS USB stick using HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool?
Q-flash could be a useful alternative, but NOT @BIOS...
Btw: Did another mod as well. SLP1 and SLP2.0.........

I've got reply of him:
This is BETTER...
All is OK. Just MS-DOS....A:/, the three file on next floppy, enter: FLASH895 ma79xds5.f6 and flashing the bios, REBOOT and the BIOS is WORKING, the LOGOs is OK (both is yellow:-)! The Vista ULTIMATE 64bit (with installed asus.xrm-ms file) is stable.
My suggested method:
1. Modded BIOS Flashing under MS-DOS,
2. Install Vista mit ASUS OEM serial number,
3. Install asus.xrm-ms licence file.
THANX FOR ALL: descent7
So my new 0+2=0+2 method is working.;) I'm sure it'll activate Asus OEM XP as well.

Yeah, i already got the latest stable bios, 1303. But somehow i got problems, dont know if it is the bios, but dont know what else it could be!
Problem is: my pc randomly hangs on running programs, i need to wait a minute for it to respond again. It's very anoying cause i dont do anything else while it's hanging.
I already tried reformatting, but still have the same problem. Put my bios to default settings, didn't help. So i don't know what else could be the prob
So, i guess ill just wait till it is modded, the 1404 beta, or the final.
Thanks!

My computer is self-built using the eVGA nForce 680i SLI motherboard. I was using a modded P32 BIOS previously, with an Asus SLIC. I added some memory which necessitated a change to the P33 BIOS for compatibility purposes.
Hopefully, this is the information you were asking about. Is it possible to get a modded BIOS with an Asus SLIC?
In any case... thank you very much for your assistance.
I will report back on the final result, after the right BIOS is installed.

Thank!
Flash from DOS - only in EVEREST not present ASUS in SLIC, there is SHIMAS.
SHIMAS present before flasning.
Sorry, but can you be more specific ?
Did you actualy flashed the bios or get an error and cant flash ?
BTW. Please wait for @Yen to take a look, couse it seems that your bios has a SLIC, but it is fragmentet.
I'll PM @Yen to take a look at your bios, couse he is most familiar with phenix bioses.

Well maybe I gave you the wrong BIOS but I flashed it and it gets to the detection screen then just keeps rebooting. It says for me to choose the correct DICK menu? LOL maybe just DFI mistake. But the bios that was uploaded here does not work for the board I requested.

Flash from dos with AFUDOS..no switches (for better recovery if necessary:eek:)
Clear cmos and load defaults after flash
Tested. Works great.
One observation: It took the PC about 30 minutes to get to the "expanding" files. For some reason, the entire process leading up to that windows was extremely slow. Any operations such as pressing next took at least 5 minutes to actually get to the next screen. I don't know if SLIC is the cause or not because it was actually my first installation of Vista on the new motherboard (never tried it with original).
Things go smoothly starting at this point: http://www.flickr.com/photos/freeed/363935884/in/set-72157594490796701/
Vista operates perfectly fine without any problem, and it's still activated.

This should be better for you..flash from dos with awdflash..
Hmmmmmm??? It has worked twice in the last two days:eek:
I wonder???:D:cool:
it hasn't worked for me on 7 boards. i flashed both with keys mentioned in the manual and without them. even ez-flash didn't help. vista sp1 x64 always treated these mobos as desktops instead of laptops and tried to activate through the internet.
i used AMI_SLIC3_20080419 to mod. it worked perfectly. all 7 copies are actvated.
and be careful about what you are quoting. you've mixed up the models of mobos. ))

Additionally, I am understanding the bios flashed, but didn't activate..Is this correct.?
I think the posted one that didnt activate is FC mod, I dont know who did it though.....I am to check for my own info..Sorry about the previous post, I misread the board and just went by bios version number...
Big NONO...
TIA for the additional info..

right you are. i've checked that modded bios through everest after flashing: the slic table was unusual for me. after using the patcher the slic table became the same as it was on my own previous mobo (mf570 sli). there was a clean install of os after changing the mobo (i have raid 0)

thanks for your help but i'm looking for a dell slic modded one.
maybe i'll have a look about modding award bios, i have only asus mobos with ami bios and it's a game child to mod. maybe there are tools as easy for award bios.
i wouldnt fail cause the bios is for a friend, if it was my hardware i'll test it immediatly, but anyway gigabyte got 2 bios on their mobo no ? so u can always use the other chip if the first one fails ?

Bios is not working, not that it won't activate, but actually fails when initializing, had to hotflash back to old bios to fix it.
Thanks for trying
If you wouldn't mind have a go at this version http://img.lanparty.tw/Upload/BIOS/CM/X38AD821.zip I would suggest avoiding the logo change, from the bios code error on the board itself, this may be the error.

Not working, CMOS errors and so even after load-safe defaults and removing battery, perhaps BIOS itself could be buggy, bug i doubt
