P35-DS3R rev2 Bios rev: F13a AWARD mod Fzeven tested by acidrock
SLIC : ASUS http://www.box.net/shared/hgtum8v9cw
I'm using BIOS F11 with ASUS SLIC, and try to use Gigabytes Advanced Dynamic Energy Saver. The program tells me to update to a newer BIOS. Can someone help me save the planet by adding ASUS SLIC to the latest BIOS? :D

-Motherboard = GA-P35-DS3R (rev. 1.0,2.0,2.1)
-Bios revision = F13a
-Bios Type = AWARD
-Bios SLIC = ASUS
-Bios: ftp://download.gigabyte.ru/bios/motherboard_bios_ga-p35-ds3r_f13a.exe

I did try with the @BIOS utility to flash the EP35-DS3R F3 BIOS, in the spirit that the P35 rev 2.1 is similar with the EP35, but it said "BIOS Partnumber(AWARD) is not correct!" Hopefully the F13a adds support for DES Advanced.

Thank you for the reply. I tried to flash the BIOS linked, but it is for the DS3 (non-RAID) model, so the flashing utility gives a "BIOS Partnumber(AWARD) is not correct!" error message. Do you know of a BIOS for the DS3R-model?

Hi,
i tried the bios you gave me....but awdflash did not recognize the file: crc error and screen (in dos) full of garbage.

Maybe it can be not so dangerous to modify only for slp 1.0?

Hi,
You can try this one :

http://depositfiles.com/files/0yzah9pg7

Add SLP1 : Dell System

Are you sure SLIC work in this bios ?

Feedback please.

PS : Always test a disaster recovery plan before flash

Sorry, my bad.
I've entered a wrong adress for the SLIC.
This will work:

SLIC = ASUS

This one shows a SLIC table in Everest

Thanks a lot, petar
Sorry for the delay. Just didn't have a chanse to install Vista. XP x64 SP2 was so stable ;)
Now installed Vista Ultimate x64 SP1.
Activated!
Please, correct the post here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2967) to "tested".

I couldnt d/l the latest from foxconn..got one from another site and I don't know if it is tampered with or not.

I have modded the new one and the first one..try them with awdflash included from dos..

clear cmos and load defaults post flash..

whichever one you would like to try first. The P01 is from the foxconn site, the p)2 is from another chinese site. It looks intact, but who knows???

Let me know if you need more..ASUS SLIC = http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048424/FOXCONN_SLIC.rar

Try flashing with the afudos from asus website. It is from dos and may not give the boot block error.

This is why all recommend not ezflash or winflash..not reliable.

Always AFUDOS from pure DOS..:D

Hmm. Both my original mod and this one now boot, but I'm not getting activation. I'm using an ASUS key and made sure my installation is OEM. Could something be wrong with the mods?

Try this ASUS SLIC = http://slics.myftp.org/motherboard_bios_ga-p35-ds3r_f13a_ASUS.rar

Flash from dos with the flashspi tool. No qflash or winflash update..:D

Let me know:eek:

Working great, many thanks! :)

It doesn't add support for Gigabyte Advanced DES, so I'm considering crossflashing to the EP35-DS3R BIOS, or hope to find another way to make it work.

Hmm. Both my original mod and this one now boot, but I'm not getting activation. I'm using an ASUS key and made sure my installation is OEM. Could something be wrong with the mods?

EDIT: I just noticed the original mod caused CMOS reset and only 768MB of RAM (out of 4GB) to be identified... WTF?did you install the certificate??

You need key and cert. not condescending, just making sure:D

if they flash, and no activate, could you post acpiscope .ats file..from bios??

I dont know how original was done, I assume the last doesnt mess with memory config??

Hello again...
I have a second confirm for the GA-MA790GP-DS4H Board. Yen kindly re-modded the Bios with a new method, the goal was to have a more fitting method for Gigabyte Bioses including a Gigabyte SLIC. unfortunately the Gigabyte SLIC did not work out, it showed up but did not activate Vista, which points towards a wong SLIC/Cert combination.
To verify that the Method is working anyway, Yen did the mod with the standard Asus-SLIC. This Post shall confirm that the Method of Yen is working and also that the testing-Bios is working fully, stable and flawless.

Manufacturer: Gigabyte
Board: GA-MA790GP-DS4H

No, I hadn't remembered to install the cert! I've done it now (I dont know how original was done, I assume the last doesnt mess with memory config??

Ah, not condescending at all. I'd actually forgotten it. =\

It's now installed, ("slmgr -ilc ASUS.xrm-ms") but still nothing.

I just used AMI_SLIC3 on the original ASUS bios for my own. The one I downloaded here did not have any CMOS/Memory issues, you're right.

Here's the .ats. Thanks again for your help!

EDIT: DISREGARD ALL THAT!

I'm such a spaz. I was looking at the .ats and noticed the SLIC wasn't in there. Yeah, that's right. I flashed the wrong rom. The one you provided is activated now, working just fine. Thanks much!

Hi there!

Thanks very much for the BIOS mod re: FOXCONN NF4K8AB-RS motherboard.
I'm sure your modifications were just fine however there were issues with the original BIOS .ROM file, (version: 4ADW1P46) that I wanted to upgrade to.

After testing I found the symptom was the same with the original FOXCONN BIOS file. The chief symptom was freezing after just booting into Vista or just before. Safe mode was OK. I searched forums and found this to be a common issue with this newest release from FOXCONN and that it is a hard drive/IDE controller issue.
So I flashed back to the previous version which I had in the first place, this was :

Version : 4ADW1P25 - date: 08/18/05

And currently everything works well and none of above issues. however, of course, not activated.

It seems like many people have had issues with latest BIOS release form FOXCONN alone without any modifications...looks like something to steer people away from.
So in conlusion...could I possibly get a mod for this:

Hi there,

Bad news unfortunately....mainboard hosed....The JP1 jumper setting in the readme attached said to move the jumper from pin2,3 to pin 1,2 to I presume to protect the BIOS using TBL function which I did. But it did conflict with the user manual I have which instructed the opposite. Anyways, I flashed the BIOS with the unprotected top boot block.
...Ahhh and I just realized I didn't add the extra commands suggested after the 'AFU860H 4ADWp125.bin' ..which were../py/sy/cc/cd/cp/wb

Ah well...So the PC will boot to mainboard logo but then freezes with the odd wee white specks dashed intermittently around the screen...
You live and learn!
Thanks for your time anyhow.

Note, I saw a mod for the X6DH8-G2, but this is the X6DH8-XG2 and didn't want to go ahead and use that incase it’s the wrong one.

Hello,
I want to move a bios-modded Vista installation (HP cert) to a new mainboard (MSI K7N2 Delta-L).
For K7N2 Delta-L there is only a modded bios with ASUS cert.

The way I see it there are three ways to migrate:
1) Flash the new board with a HP SLIC and everything should work. The problem with this approach is that the modded bios offered here uses the ASUS SLIC. Can I just replace the 374 ASUS-SLIC bytes with the HP-SLIC ones?

2) Flash the new board with the ASUS SLIC and change the cert/key. The question I have is: will Vista even launch without a proper SLIC after it has been running for >30 days? If it doesn't, what other ways are there to change cert and key from "outside"?

3) Softmod - I would need to find one using the HP SLIC to get it to stay actived, right? Is it also possible to inject certain SLICs into softmods?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

This is 2005-04-11 bios but it seams that this bios requares some dynamic modding, cannot extraxt 1b module. So will be waiting for reply. I have made a floppy disc with AMIBOOT.ROM in it so you can try anything, this will recover on fail.

Use Everest (in the program look under motherboard->acpi) to see if SLIC is present and what it says.

Make sure you flash in pure DOS, not in Windows. I would use the newest awdflash since it's an award bios.
ex: awdflash nf77v16.bin /py/sn/cc/cp/cd

Here's one I quickly made using award easy method in case you want to try it (used cbrom to add asus isa module). If it doesn't work then you probably need someone better than me to do a manual mod.

Its not a poweriso file..it is a .bin file. Put it on the disk with the awdflash tool

Flash from DOS like AWDFLASH 1602.BIN

You cannot open the file with poweriso..:D:eek:

I down loaded that one and its a power iso file. when i run power iso i get worng format. I need one I can flash with my bios flash tool. I don't what to brick my board. Howie

The download is a .rar file. You can open it with winrar (http://www.rarlabs.com). Inside the .rar archive is the bios file and awdflash utility. You need to copy those to a bootable floppy disk, boot from the floppy, and run the command to flash the bios. If that's too complicated maybe you shouldn't update your bios. :)

Instead of updating your bios you could try the wow utility in this thread:

Hi

Have you self mod this Bios ??

Thx

You should probably flash this one. Gigabyte boards and the muyu isa dont have good Hx in my experience. The mod I have given you has the tommiy sp1 isa module so it should help with sleep functions. It should work if you flash with flashspi from dos. Pure dos and not simply a prompt. No qflash or recovery flash or winflash..:D

probably not the best advice..:o I have used small screwdrivers to lift them out of the socket..you have to be careful and patient.
The probability of damage is high if you get in a hurry. Also if there is a radio shack or electronics store near, they usually have pullers that work. Pliers can look inviting, but will most likely damage something.

I say it is not difficult to extract one not soldered, but you must be careful. It is deceivingly easy to muck something up..:D

I forgot this.. maybe two paperclips (thick) bent like this and pull straight up....http://slics.myftp.org/paperclip2.gif

When you install. Seat it good, but if you push it in too far, it will NEVER come out again..from experience..:D

Its an Award bios. I cant remember if the isa mods work for these though..
Try it, it either will activate or it wont, generally these do not brick with the isa mod.
The ZORT mod was with an older isa module..Use this instead..:D

Ps i've tested to mod by myself (with Easy auto method)
OK green box for SLP and SLIC, flash sucessfull, but no activation and no SLIC infos (via everest) ...

That's strange! I hope Asus didn't prevent the SSV3 way. Have you used afudos to flash your bios?
afudos /Ibios.rom
Are you sure you've flashed the mod, not the original one?:p

Try this again please:

this is the right one:

Link updated, since rapidshare link has expired.

Rename it to bios.rom and flash it using afudos.

This is a difficult one, stay tuned...:D

I made with MS-DOS, then "FLASH895 ma79xds5.f6" command.
PASS all, power off then: CHEKSUM ERROR BIOS RECOVERING... and return the factory BIOS: F3... Fucked Gigabyte DUALBIOS! ASUS A8N-E with rev.1013 BIOS working great on vista 32/64... Why bought this new mobo for my son.
Maybe the 4 GB RAM cause this problem?

Hi

I have been playing around with the tools here. I think the correct tool would be the ami slic3 tool however, when I compare the previously posted working 1307SLIC version with the one I generate from using the tool on 1307 they are very different (binary compare).... Is ami slic3 the right thing to use?

Cheers,

Hi 911medic,

I flashed with the above bios but am now unable to get the system to boot, not even a bios screen.

I do have a second board so I will set that machine up and do a hot swap flash as the bios chips can be taken out and give it another go.

I am sorry, phoenix is not my thing. Maybe Petar can help, he seems to be very good with these..Good luck with the repair..
