Glad I could help..This BIOS no trouble any more:D

Manufacturer: ASUS
Motherboard: P5N-E SLI
BIOS Version: 1201
BIOS Type: Award
BIOS SLIC: ASUS
modder: 911medic

Thank you 911medic for your appreciated job, activated successfully!
Just one question: did something went wrong with my flashing or boot logo is no longer present? Was that the solution you found for the lack of space or it has nothing to do?
Would it be safe to use ASUS MyLogo tool to add a new logo to the BIOS file before flashing, or it would erase SLIC tables?

Thank you for your help.

The logos need to be all black for space..maybe next bios revision will have more space, but I think if you add a logo, it will corrupt bios...

I think it best to look at post screen at boot and wait till next revision for logos and such..

This is best to keep activation and not to corrupt bios..OK?:D

Unfortunately it's not working. I get a "platform signature not found in the interface" error.
As first, you've extractted the bios flawlesly.
Unfortunetly, it seems that the original bios file has aditional data which isn't alocated to the RAM.
So until you get hold of the original bios file, I would recomend using WoW patch, couse it is sutable at your situation.
Your bios has a complete SLIC, but RSDT/XSDT are wrong, does preventing the activation.

For more info about WoW look here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?p=33629#post33629).

Totally agree, looking at POST and then the activated OS is a bliss. Just wondering...
Thank you again.

BTW, if I flash another BIOS (say, non SLIC BIOS), will that change activation status? I think I heard of someone flashing for activation and then back to other version without loosing activation, is that possible?

I would have a request please. This bios was posted before but bricked some computers. I checked the files that were posted before and noticed that in the file 309B0F54_SLIC.WPH the checksum at 0x078A26 is wrong.
It is 72 and I think it should be 38.

Could there be a new release of this one?

This Dell Bios is unlike all of the others. It has a SLIC table in it but the info is wrong for it to be activated with a Dell Cert. You can open it in the Phoenix Bios Editor!!! If you could use the Dell OEM info, that would be great. Thanks.

Hey everyone,

I know this is a re post but I just wanted to bump it up. I was hoping to avoid reinstalling windows as my 30 days is about to expire and other activation methods wont work with this mobo. I would very much apreciate a Transcode if anyone finds the time.

Hello,

Can anyone please transcode the following BIOS with ASUS slic. Thank you so much. You guys are the greatest!

Motherboard Manufacturer & Model: Asus Rampage Extreme
BIOS revision: 0501
BIOS link: http://support.asus.com
(unfortunately the 0501 BIOS is not on the ASUS FTP yet)

Thank you so much.

Hi again,

If it is difficult to download the file, then I will be equally happy if someone could transcode the older version of the BIOS (0301) which can be downloaded from:

Hi There.

Firstly, thank so very much for the time and effort. I can confirm that this firmware works and works very well. A job well done.

I have one very small further request, if it is not too much trouble, are you able to create a Dell version of the firmware. This is just to keep it consistent with everything else that I have at home.

Here is the info again incase you do not have it on hand:
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Gigabyte GA-8I955X Royal
-Bios revision. F11
-Bios Type Award
-SLIC Dell (Sorry I didn't include it the first time - my mistake)

No good mate there is no SLIC table in everest??????

Try this one.. could you upload an .ats file before trying this??http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048424/P5Q-ASUS-SE-R-0601_SLIC.rar(FIX CHECKSUM)

If you could upload an .ats file from ACPIscope first, that would be better..To see if there is truly no slic in the bios..everest is sometimes a bit flaky..

install ACPIscope (http://www.tssc.de/index.htm)..click file and load ACPI information from bios..save as ats file and upload..I would like to have a look at it before you try another bios mod..

All I did was adjust some checksums..makes a big difference sometimes..this file is the same checksum as oem. soooo:confused::rolleyes:..we'll see.

Please give the ats file and we'll go from there...Be sure that the cmos was cleared and defaults were reset after flash...

Yeah..you can have any slic you want..I will work on another type of mod, you can download the certs HERE (http://rapidshare.com/files/118119842/39-CERTS.zip)..there is instructions on how to install certs..You cannot have any softmods, bootloaders or the such..If you were using a 'preregistered' or 'preactivated' version, you have some work to do...

I don't know the specifics so I'm trying as much as poss now...Clear cmos and load defaults in bios...this is mandatory...

If you have an activator or softmod installed, you MUST uninstall it..use voaktools Here (http://rapidshare.com/files/50368049/voatktoolsv.2.5_stand_alone.zip.html)
to assist uninstall..I will get with the next phase of mod, but try these things first...the resetting defaults and clear cmos..I would also like a .ats report from ACPISCOPE (http://www.tssc.de/index.htm) if possible...load trial...open it up, go to file, load from bios, and save report as .atf and upload to a file server.. this will help....

Your bios has a complete SLIC, but it may be shadowed.
Can you please install and open ACPI Scope.
Go to File-->Load ACPI Infromation-->From BIOS
Save it as ats file and upload.

OK. This is the file which you want. Thank you for your help.

Been off the "scene" a while, however i have managed to convert the following bios's that may be of use to someone with these motherboards. All have been tested and modded by myself, they 100% activate with no problems with the respective SLIC's incorporated.

Asus A7S8X-MX
1st Bios Asus XP (SLP1) /Asus Vista (SLIC) 2nd File Asus XP(SLP1) /HP Vista (SLIC)

AWARD Bios Version 1007

Use ALT-F2 to flash (internal Bios Award Flash v1.06)
There is TWO bios files one for Asus and one for HP SLIC.

Make sure you have just one of the Bios files on the disc.
Rename to a shorter filename such as A7S8XMX.BIN.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/9/19/2104927/A7S8XMX.rar

You can use a DMI editor to change the internal DMI information, DMI left at default ASUSTEK. However Both versions have ASUS_FLASH so they can be used as-is with ASUS XP OEMBIOS.

This was a bit of an awkward bios, mainly because of the ASUS BIOS protection that prevents you from "just flashing" this bios in a normal DOS flash way? If you need to flash by not using ALT-F2 method then make sure you use the /f (force) command on AwdFlash.exe.

Hewlett Packard SLIC

Acer Aspire RC550/950 === Acer XP(SLP1)/Vista (SLIC)

AMI Version R01-C0
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/9/19/2104927/ACER_RC550_950_R1_C0.rar

Use the Bat(ch) file to flash or use AFUDOS <bios.rom> /pbnc /n

Please See Readme.txt file within zip!
Make sure after flashing you set the RSDT in the ACPI part of the
BIOS to enabled or vista will "hang" or refuse to install.

Modded & Fully Tested By: Mxman2k

This one was a strange Bios, RSDT was edited correct in the bios file, when flashed it "forgot" the ACRPRDSYS information ,after many hours of re-editing and flashing finally worked out why, it was picking up the INTEL signature of the board, after another editing session, the Bios is finished and Fully tested with ACER Vista!

Enjoy!

posted some rquest but i dont think anyone can handle that and mod this bios. or anyone trying. For now i apply the paradoxx emulator and will be waitin for replly. i cant even open that bios coz this is not award i think. modbin and other tools shows random errors and automated tools mods but on flash winpflash shows checksum error so i stop atthat point. dont wanna loose good bios. so for now its only solution: turn off automatic updates and apply paradoxx crack.

HI Petar,

sorry... Vista is still not activated.

When i run everest on both mods...... ACPI tables look same.
But our file must have some lock or something.

Please keep working..

I thank you many times
I've revised Fzeven's mod, and from what I can see is, it is a standard Phoenix bios mod.

Nontheless, here is a mod that is done literary the same way:
http://rapidshare.com/files/146799031/CLB-135.rar

It seems that v1.34 used a romhole to shadow and rendrer alredy present SLIC usless.
While the newer v1.35 has some code that searches for the SLIC string and overwites part of the table again.

Anyone has some ideas about this ??

I will get this motherboard in a couple of days and like to have the abitlity to choose what OS to install.
Can someone mod the bios for both Slic 1/2?
I want to be able to use Vista/XP/WHS/server2k3/server2k8 OEM :)
I have got help with this before on my previus motherbord and that runs all of the OS OEM.

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R
-Bios revision: F4a
-Bios SLIC: HP
-Bios Type: AWARD i think

-Bios Link alt.: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=BIOS&FileID=13895

Thx in advanced :)

First off i would like to say that i have read the Sticky post that ReginaKampfer made about not to do duplicate biosmods.
So i understand why no one has looked at mine because there is some older bios for the motherboard.
But the newer bios, from F3 final, has better support for high-end memory modules.
I know there is a F3 beta bios, but, what i understad from gigabyte, the better support for memory was done in the final F3 bios.

So if someone please could look at a bios mod for F3->

I downloaded the the above BIOS on 10 July 2008. It did not work for me. On 11 July 2008 I replied with the following post:

The BIOS may or may not work, It's just that I have not been able to get the new BIOS to stay (the back-up BIOS always takes over) therefore I cannot say if Vista will be activated or not.

Hi,
Has anybody worked out this issue?
I am still soft-modding my motherboard with Vista Loader 3.0.0.1 but I would really like to have my BIOS hard modded.

Were you using a softmod or vistaloader activator before? is this the case?
Vista Loader V2.1.2 ??

You must remove all activation cracks or programs.

Remove all softmods, use clean retail software (32 or 64 bit), install certs and keys...

Bios works fine...You should check for mods, if you installed a preactivated version, or maybe fresh install...sorry

Hey, I'm new here and all, but would like make a request straight away :)

I had vista installed with vistaloader 3.0.0.1 but it went kaboom after a few months. Then I used bootrec.exe /fixboot on a vista installation cd and tried a few times with earlier versions of vistaloader...no luck

Now im stuck with a computer that im afraid to put online so that it wouldn't lock up or something, and it keeps popping up windows asking to activate.

So, please help me! :p

I would suggest firing it up and removing all traces of the bootloader before the flash...Use the VOATKtools (http://www.megashare.com/178606) to remove it..

Hello folks,
I wonder if there is someone fo you modders that is able to hack a notebook bios, in order to enable the Intel-VT feature.

The BIOS is a InsydeH2O.
I've searched in internet quite a lot and they talk about to modify the NVRAM setting. Unfortunately they were talking about a Phoenix utility to write NVRAM data....Not sure it can work on that InsydeH2O.

Any ideas?

Thanks

BIOS update failed. I used Gigabyte's @BIOS for flashing and it rejected the BIOS file (dell) after reading it.

Hello, does anyone have a link for the BIOS for
GA-EP35C-DS3R rev 2.1
BIOS version F2
?

I have version F3 with slic from here but I know there was an f2 version modded here before (in the now disappeared "slics tested" thread, that its unavailable now...) but I have found some weird voltage problems with this f3 version, I'm not sure if its caused by the BIOS itself or slic mod, I dont know how to test original non-slic BIOS without deactivating Vista so I would like to test bios version f2 with slic if anyone can provide a link?
Thanks

Sorry to bother you again, but the patched BIOS still wont work: after flashing the screen stays black and I've got to use the recovery CD to get the board back working...

Sorry 'bout that...this one should be better:o

Has it actually been tested?
I don't want to screw up my BIOS again as it happened with previous BIOSes in this forum.
I need to confirm that someone already tested it on an actual motherboard.

heh It appears I'm not the only one in search of this. I gave my old Dell to a good friend of mine, and put Vista Ultimate 64 on it. Worked fine in my quick runthrough, but not any more. Modding it seems to be the only option. Any takers, or is it even possible?

Thanks for your time, folks. :]

I went into the deleted archives and there is no F2 version. I don't know if the EP35C-DS3R and the EP35-DS3R uses the BIOS or not but this is the only F2 version I found

Well... it is almost midnight down here, my floppy drive is behaving erratically, so I think I will wait till someone jumps in and flashes his/her own mobo and posts back.
Thanks anyway!
