I have a computer Im working on. It's a AsRock P45R2000-WiFi. It's also AMI bios based.

The older verison 1.30 was made by Petar and has been tested to work:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=31624&postcount=11052
He said to use with switches: afudos /iP45R2K_1.30 /pbnc /n

A new version 1.6 made by Allesio has been posted here:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=34816&postcount=12369
However, he mentioned nothing of using switches? And noone has responded on this?

Not sure if someone can see if both are modded the same way, and if I should use the same switches on 1.6? Thanks for the help.

AMI is different (fewer options to make work..IMO), maybe a little tricky (by my experience)..I think they are a bit more sensitive to flashing in windows..that is not the best way to do it for any bios flash.

I think if you get another board, you should flash from another modder..for comparison sake if for nothing else..I have seen certain bios mods not work across the board..no matter who does it.

I dont know if th flash from windows contributed to the failure..it did not help prevent it, for sure. There is a fair chance for failure with any flash..oem and mod..The manufacturer advises against it unless no other option for a reason..If it fails..your board may be toast:(:(

I am sorry for the failure..I have looked at the bios and I do not see a problem, but I may be missing something over and over..My best success is with award..the AMI is mixed..i think that goes for most of the people modding..;)

I ordered another one. I'll leave this ECS nforce9m-a alone. Could I have flashed with your modded BIOS but left the boot block alone to have better chance at recovery?

MB killed. Searching local eeprom flasher...

Hi all!

I found someone, who reflash my bios chip. This is the goood news. But maybe possible, my problem generally is a bad mod? I try the original bios, before i flashed the modded, this picture (http://images.netbag.hu/20080904/16444183547.jpg) say, M2N-E bios is Phoenix-AwardBIOS. (1503 and maybe 1504?)

Thx.

Here is the file.. (http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048424/ga-ma790x-ds4_f5c_ASUS_DELL.rar)..both asus bios and dell bios in the rar file. Just in case someone wants asus..

I don't believe you should have to reinstall vista..But, you know there are no guarantees with this modding things....especially the bios:D:D

Well, it didn't went so well. I thought that my mobo died, but after an hour messing around I got it working again. It said "Main Bios checksum error" again. Is this someway harder to mod than that F4 version bios which have been modded? I don't really mind if you can't get it work, because that older bios is working pretty well. It's somehow always must have newest bios. :)

Yeah, it doesn't have the room for the SLIC..The checksum must be from the .bmp that was modified for the space..I will have to think a bit harder..This appears to work on some and not others....

On some bios, you can set the bios .bmp to black for space..Some don't work so well, appearantly:cool:

I'm glad no damage done..;)

I wasn't sure what to make of this one, so feel free to point me to the appropriate thread if I am clueless. I am trying to get a Gateway MX6440 laptop to activate, but I can't seem to find any specifics about the motherboard. I suspect that this one is a difficult or unique case:

Motherboard: Gateway MX6440 laptop (MB Model Number: 31MA3MB0005, as seen here http://tinyurl.com/6rujsj)
Bios ver: 68.05
Bios Type: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1
Bios Link: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=21252&dscr=Gateway%20BIOS%20Version:%2068.05&uid=207449214

I have already installed the Gateway cert and Gateway Vista Ultimate key, hoping that the latest legit BIOS update already contains the necessary info. It does not appear to activate, though. Please help if you can.

So is there a chance you could have another go?

thanks

Well, after flashing there is a short warning message in BIOS POST setup, looks like

"Warning: Option ROM could not be invoked (F02XX)" or something similiar, it is not exact since it flashes by so fast..

I see your custom image in the BIOS POST logo but no SLIC in APCI in everest is present..

1. Make bootable floppy (or USB flash drive).
2. Delete any autoexec.bat & config.sys from it.
3. Copy awdflash.exe and BIOS *.bin file on it.
4. Restart and enter to BIOS.
5. Load BIOS defaults (Note or remember old settings if need). Set the floppy or USBFlash as default boot device.
6. Save settings&Exit.
6. Immediately boot from floppy/USBFlash.
7. Enter in command line: awdflash.exe YourBiosFile.bin
8. Answer flasher questions (for backup if need and programming).
9. Remove floppy/USBFlash and press F1 to reboot.
10. Immediately enter to BIOS again.*
11. Load bios defaults.
12. Make preferred (old) BIOS settings.
13. Save BIOS settings&Exit.
14. Enjoy.
*If your system hanged up on step 10, clear the CMOS settings by jumper on mobo.

Using EZFlash and Windows utility highly NOT recommended to avoid any errors and mobo damage.

Used this one, thanks to the warnings and not the one from Petar.
The activation is working.
Wat's the difference between the two versions?

There was nothing dangerous about the one Petar did..It seems, on these bios, that if you dont move some modules, then the isa is out of range and the slic wont show..He simply started simple.
The more modules you have to move to make the slic work, the bigger chance of bricking the board. Sometimes it is better to start simple...More of a time issue than a danger of bricking the board...The warnings were a bit unfounded IMHO..if not a bit overdone:D..LOL...

Successfully activate for me too but I got trouble when setting the bios menu, when I change the value or setting AI tweak mode , save & exit then my MOBO can't boot anymore or crash in 10 sec I must set all value at default & then I can use normal (can not use overclock or AI NOS) any Idias??

PS.I use Asus Update v7.10.05 to update BIOS same too but use for Vista ultimate SP1 (32bit)

I assume you mean that you flashed from within Vista SP1 x32. I had the same problems until I cleared my CMOS. Did you clear yours after you flashed the BIOS? There is an option in the Asus util to clear CMOS after flashing, but I actually opened my case and physically switched the CMOS clear jumper to make sure.

Since the BIOS flash to v1104 on my P5N32-E SLI Plus, I have successfully overclocked my DDR2-800 sticks, swapped that RAM for another DDR2-1066 4GB kit, overclocked the new RAM, then swapped my old E6600 with an E8600 processor and overclocked it to 3.8 GHz. Needless to say, I don't think you should be having any problems with overclocking/stability.

I hope this helps.

- Motherboard Manufacter And Model : Biostar M7NCD
- Bios Revision : NCD1014 BS
- Bios Type : Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00 PG
- Bios SLIC : Fujitsu-Siemens, if possible
- Download Link : http://www.biostar.com.tw/utility/biosdl.php?BID=646

P.S. in this motherboard it is possible to flash Bios using 'update bios' menu in Bios itself, which I successfully used couple of times, so is it a must to flash modded Bios through DOS, or I can use this option for modded Bios also? Thanks.

try this:
http://rapidshare.de/files/40451886/Ncd1014.zip.html
slic=asus
bios type=award

confirm please

p.s. sorry but i have only good slic of asus and dell (the other's slic files not working for me anymore :( )

Doesn't work, I just get a black screen (flashed from DOS floppy).

There is a newer version of the BIOS now, if you wouldn't mind trying again.

Motherboard: MSI Neo P43 and MSI Neo P45 (both use same BIOS)
Model: MS-7519
BIOS: AMI
Version: 1.5
Slic: ASUS (or any major one will do)
Link: http://download1.msi.com.tw/files/downloads/bos_exe/7519v15.zip

Thanks!

This may work...flash from dos again...let us know how it goes..:D:D:D

With this version bios disrupted the work CPU. The system sees one kernel from four, and speed of work so much went down.

It's more dangerous to flash your bios 10 times or more with a none working mod instead of one time with a working one :D

Wanted to post back on AMI Bios 1.60 for AsRock P45R2000-WiFi
Installed from Dos with switches as followed:
afudos /iP45R2K_1.60 /pbnc /n

Link to Slic BIOS:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=34816&postcount=12369

1 Floppy was Startup disk, other floppy had flash utility & Bios.

Windows XP was installed with ASUS OEM Xp Pro SP3 CD - ACTIVATED
Vista Ultimate 64 SP1 installed with ASUS OEM Key & oemcert - ACTIVATED

Note: To load SATA drivers succesfully under windows XP, once you download the SATA drivers from Asrock and move them to floppy, also create a folder on the main floppy named: $OEM$
Inside of that, create a folder called: TEXTMODE
COPY the Sata drivers from i386 into $OEM$\TEXTMODE along with the TXTSETUP.OEM file.

I loaded the driver at XP install bootup, but it wont install and ask for it again, but cant find it. You have to also create and copy the files for it to work on an OEM install. Just a heads up to anyone that didnt already know this when using an OEM.

Special thanks Alessio for modding the bios, and big thanks to Petar for all his patience and teachings to help me get everything right!

Thanks 911 medic for all your help too! Just wanted to post back the good news.

Hello,
There are to many sticky's here so I reduced the two threads Slics tested and not tested to one new thread called,
All Slics - tested and not tested
Also it's easier for me and the modders to check-out if a asked mod is already made.

I hope that it's also easier for the users, now there is one thread (into 10 parts) and it's simpel to see if a mod is tested or not.

Have pleasure

Has anyone modified a bios from a sony vaio notebook? I've been trying to backup a copy of the current bios to modify it, or to request someone with more experience to modify it, but haven't had any luck yet. I've tried running a copy of phlash from a bootable usb stick, but it says it won't run if any memory managers (eg HIMEM.sys) are active. Winphlash64 hasn't worked for me either, giving me error103 - seems i can't backup the bios without a proper replacement bios in the new bios field. haven't been able to locate a copy of the bios online either.

The laptop is model VGN-NR498D. The bios is a phoenix technologies R2060J9.
currently running vista64 ulitmate.

thanks for any help!

This one didn't work either, same result: goes into BIOS recovery mode after reboot.

I don't know if this will help any, but even though it flashes fine (no errors and all checksums are OK), when it reboots into BIOS recovery mode it states that the "ROM checksum is bad." (All the modded versions I've tried have shown this message so far).

Also, just to be comprehensive, I've tried flashing from floppy, USB, and force BIOS recovery (CTRL-HOME during post) with the same result.

Thanks for helping with this!

Yes, I understand that the AHCI ROM was accidentally set aside for the SLIC..I have remedied the situation. The AHCI ROM is replaced and in its original placement. It should be working well now. There is nothing missing from the Bios and everything should load fine...Including the SLIC;)

Can you please try to point on wich drive the bios should be saved.
e.g. phlash16 /BU x:\bios.rom

"x" represents the drive letter of your usb stick.

Edit, It won't work, do the folowing:

Install and open hwdirect, go to memory dump. Enter fff00000 and size 100000 press dump.
Right click into window, select all, right click again, copy. Paste as new file into winhex. (Open winhex and press Shift + insert key) Make sure ASCII-hex is selected. Save file and upload, please!

Hi, this one didn't work (I didn't do a DOS flash, just clicked the program in windows xp), i only saw the progress bar for flashing up to the 17th block when it says there should have been 19 blocks total. But, at the end of writing the 17th block, the program says flash completed; I clicked ok, and the computer entered restart; and I see the shutdown splash screen come on and then the screen turns all white, no keys is responsive, is this time for a new motherboard...:o

I'm reading the 'bios recovery procedure' thread, I'll find a usb stick, and report back to see if those method works, right now I have powered off my laptop by unplugging it after 15 min of unresponsive white screen, but now all I can do is plug in the power cord, see the blue harddrive light and dvd light come on, hear the fan running, but power light is Off, on/off light is Off, so is speaker light and screen, and nothing else happens :) Hopefully that's descriptive for now

I'm sorry to hear that and hope that the bios recovery will go well for you.
I always recheck Phoenix bios mods more that once and I will never recomend flashing from windows again.
You might need to use USB Floppy, couse recovery from USB Stick doesn't always works.

Thanks for the quick reply again, yeah I think a DOS flash would've worked, I was just lazy :), and my current setup has been having some, though not frequent, crashes already which was why I wanted to try fresh install vista. I posted more info under the Bios recovery sticky, not a whole lot of more info though, but just in case someone recognizes something from the symptoms for now. Fingers crossed hoping I can recover the bios, then at least I'll be able to try reflash the modded bios from DOS

Try this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/145666258/VGN-NR498D_SLIC.rar
SLIC = Sony VAIO

Flash from DOS like this:
phlash16 VGN-NR498D_SLIC.ROM /x /s /c

Link to phlash16:
http://rapidshare.com/files/121106357/Phlash16_1_4_59a.zip

Unfortunately it's not working. I get a "platform signature not found in the interface" error.

Hi;

I refer to the following motherboard:
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Gigabyte GA-8I955X Royal
-Bios revision. F11
-Bios Type Award
-Bios Link: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...S&FileID=12250

Now I know that there has been an attempt on this and can be found here:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3&highlight=GA-965P-DS3&page=74

However this bios suffers from corrupting S3 resume (it will wake up but freez once turned on). I have read that there is a fix now for this in the following thread:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=1060&page=25

Can the fix please please please be implemented into the requested BIOS.

Many Many thanks in advance.

WOW :1300 pages!!!

Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: Dell 1501
-Bios revision: 2.6.3
-Bios Type: PHOENIX
-Bios Link: http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios/Win1501263.EXE

This Dell Bios is unlike all of the others. It has a SLIC table in it but the info is wrong for it to be activated with a Dell Cert. You can open it in the Phoenix Bios Editor!!! If you could use the Dell OEM info, that would be great. Thanks.
