Very good..do I flash the 'a' bios or the 812F1P01 bios..The 'a' file has the OEMS7 file in it..the other seems to be a bit "lacking":)
Nice note...
You should flash the a.bin file.
The other file is one of my other mods, dont flash it, couse the relative offset of the modules is lost.
I've removed the other mod and named the "a" to its respective name...:p
Here is the link:

I will repair the link in the original post as well, so there wont be any confusion.

Hi Folks,

I just purchased a new Lenovo Y310 (a smaller variant of the Y410) with no OS pre-installed and I Installed Windows Vista Ultimate with,

=6F2D7-2PCG6-YQQTB-FWK9V-932CC = as the serial key
=Lenovo xrm-ms certificate
=Also checked for the existence of the SLIC in Everest and it shows Lenovo CB-01

Even with the above conditions I was still not able to pre-activate my OS automatically.

Is there still some kind of lock with the BIOS?

Install ACPIScope. Goto "File"----->"Load ACPI information"----->"From BIOS". Then click the "save file" toolbar button and save it in the default .ats extension and upload it.

I tried flashing my motherboard in DOS using a bootable USB flash drive. Next thing I did is download the files into that drive. The drive contains the modified binary file from @petar and awdflash.exe from the motherboard utility cd in consideration of the note above.

Now, what happened is this... I ran the command as stated and an error prompted saying "The program file's part number does not match with your system". I wonder what that could be. Any ideas?

you need correct Lenovo xrm-ms certificate if you get hold of AMI_SLIC3_20080419 there is LENOVO_CB-01.XRM-MS in slic folder and also LENOVO_TC-2P.XRM-MS, LENOVO_TC-03.XRM-MS, and LENOVO_TP-79.XRM-MS one.

Do i have such a thing? ;) Well, when i reinstalled Home Premium, i used original product key from Belinea sticker( and, by the way, here it is for your HOME PREMIUM database: H2M79-738GX-J7Q3C-3FXTT-FYC6T ) and the "oemcert.xrm-ms" from google ...everything was great, product activated, i've also cooked my own Vista HOME PREMIUM unattended OEM DVD(with logos, drivers and stuff - working) but the same method doesn't apply to Vista ULTIMATE...Perhaps with a proper product key and using the same "oemcert.xrm-ms" it should work, but after trying to slmgr all the ultimate product keys from this forum - nothing happened...

Whew! Silly me, I think I made a mistake right there. I renamed the bios image file to EMX690V2.BIN (removed the zero, which is the 9th character) thinking that this will fix the error "Source file not found" because the original file name was EMX690V20.BIN, which appears in DOS like EMX690~1.BIN. Ok, so I think I fixed the error "Source file not found", but then I received the error "The program file's number doesn't match with your system", so I renamed it back to its original file name "EMX690V20.BIN" and as expected the "Source file not found" came out again. I think Award utility does not read the full file name because it's in DOS mode. What should I do?

Rename the original(unmodded) bios file to "a.bin" and flash it from DOS like this:
awdflash a.bin /py /sn /cc /cp /cd /LD /R

If flashing is succesfull, do the same with the mod.
This is an ISA mod, which never coused a bricked board or any other problems.

If you cant flash the original(unmodded) bios, then please check to see if you've got the right bios for your board.

Ok, that didn't work either. The error says the program file's part number does not match with the system. It's really odd because I am pretty sure that is the right model and manufacturer for my motherboard. What if we just mod the existing BIOS in my system? Will that work? Question is, how do I extract the image file from a BIOS for modification?

Did your PC originally come with Vista Home premium preinstalled?
Did the system come with a OEM Vsta Home Premium DVD or a recovery DVD?
Are you running Home premium or Ultimate right now?

The key you provided is a COA key used for online activation only. This is not a SLP key used for offline activation with the proper certificate. I suspect that if your PC came preinstalled with Vista Home Premium, it may have used a SLP key (different from your sticker) internally with the proper certificate. Once you extract this certificate, you can use it to activate your Ultimate using any of the SLP keys listed in the OEM SLP key database without modding your BIOS. So, you have 2 options.

Option 1
You may proceed with your request for a BIOS mod. You may relist it as it got buried and delete the first request.

Option 2
Try to extract the certificate. The easiest way to extract it is by reinstalling your original Home Premium installation. Then navigate to this directory and upload the tokens.dat file and I will extract it for you.

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\ Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing\

You need to have the "Show hidden files and folders" option enabled as the tokens.dat file is hidden.

To save your curent bios create bootable Floppy or USB Stick, boot to DOS and type:
awdflash x:\bios.bin /pn /sy

"x" stands for the drive letter where you want to save your bios, in your case the USB Stick.

Ok, question... Do I need to disable BIOS write protection before running this command? I am asking this because since extraction is a read-only procedure, or is it? How long will it take to extract a BIOS image file?

This guide is relatively VENDOR NEUTRAL. It should work on all Vista installations that were preinstalled at the factory, for both laptops and desktops.

NOTE: This procedure may look long, but you should get through each step pretty quickly.

Here's the deal, you're a computer guy, and you got a new laptop, but you hate that it came with all that crapware preloaded. If you only had a way to install Vista clean, you'd love to do it. But that brings up another issue: Vista activation. Why should you need to activate Vista again when you already have it activated?

The point of this guide is to be able to install a clean version of Vista, without calling Microsoft (or going online) to activate. No more, no less. I just don't like the "big brother" aspect of activation every time I re-install.

BEFORE YOU POST ANY COMMENTS: This guide is ONLY about reinstalling Vista on a system that you purchased, WITH A VISTA LICENSE. If you have questions about installing on another computer where you have no license.

Some notes:

* You can install ALL VERSION of Vista. If you're laptop came with Home Premium, you can not install Ultimate.
* This guide uses information that's ALREADY ON YOUR LAPTOP. The only thing you will need to download is a small utility to backup and restore the activation.
* I have developed this on an HP laptop (dv9000t and dv9500t).
A Note for Beginners:

This is not an especially difficult task, but it is a bit more technical than you may be used to or comfortable with. If you follow the guide, you should be OK. HOWEVER, this guide does not cover installing drivers and possibly other things that you will need after Vista has been installed. Also, you may need to deal with situations that are not covered in this guide. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then you should not do it. BUT, if you get stuck or something doesn't work right, you can always use the recovery discs to restore your system to the way it was when you opened the box.

Things you need:

* Skills and knowledge enough that you are comfortable installing an OS from scratch, and maybe partitioning a disk.
* USB Flash Drive (or other external disk) Must be writable media! You cannot use a DVD or CD
* Vista Installation Media
* 2 DVD+Rs to make your recovery discs
* Activation Backup & Recovery tool, downloadable below

Disc Definitions
There is no such thing as a "Home Premium Vista" disc, or an "Ultimate Vista" disc!!!! ALL VISTA DISCS CONTAIN ALL VERSIONS OF VISTA. The thing that determines what version of Vista you have is the License Key that you have. You may have a sticker on it that says "Vista Business" or "Vista Home Premium", but IT IS A LIE. Your disc *may* be forced to install a certain version, (see "CUSTOM OEM Vista Disc" below) but it still contains all versions. It is possible to modify this disc so you can use it to install any version (that you have a license for).

There are many types of Vista discs out there, here is the "official" terminology of what they mean (each of these discs come in 2 versions, 32bit and 64bit):

* Anytime Upgrade Disc This disc contains all versions of Vista, unmodified as Microsoft is shipping it. It is sometimes included for free with your system, or can be purchased online for under $10. This purchase price does NOT include a license or serial number, it is only the installation media. It is intended so you can upgrade from one version of Vista to another by purchasing a license online. This is the type of disc you need to do a clean install.

* Recovery Disc These disc(s) contain an image of your computer as of when you got it. They can be used to restore your system to the EXACT state as when you first opened the box and turned it on for the first time. Vista is on these discs, but so is all the bloatware. The images are encrypted, and cannot be modified to be used for a clean install. It's best to burn these for yourself using the included recovery disc creation tools, but you can also usually buy them.

* Vista Retail Disc These discs are the ones you buy at the store in a shiny Vista box. They include a license and serial number for a particular version of Vista. The contents of the disc are IDENTICAL to the contents of the Anytime Upgrade Discs. These discs are expensive because you are buying a license along with them. You already have a license for Vista on your laptop, so there's no need to buy another one to do a clean install.

* OEM Vista Disc These discs sometimes get shipped with your system, and are IDENTICAL to the Vista Retail and Anytime Upgrade discs. The main difference here is in the licensing from the OEM (HP, Dell, etc...).

* CUSTOM OEM Vista Disc These seems to be showing up more recently, especially with Dell systems. Some OEMs ship Vista discs that have been modified to include changes such as forcing the disc to only install a certain Vista version, and also include integrated drivers. You can probably do a clean install with them, but you might need to modify the disc before you do it. See the next section for details.

Obtaining The Vista Installation Discs

The most important thing you need for this procedure is the Vista installation disc itself. Like many previous versions of Windows, the disc is often not shipped along with your computer in an obvious form. Sometimes it is hidden in plain sight, and other times it is hidden on the hard disk. It's also very possible it was not given to you at all. You need to obtain the disc using one of the following options:

* Purchase from Windows Marketplace: Windows Marketplace sells the discs at a reasonable price (~$15). It doesn't look like they are verifying your registration key on this site (there's really no reason they would need to), but I have not personally gone through the entire process myself. These discs are the same as a retail or OEM install disc, but, like all the other discs in the guide, they do not come with a license. You already have a license, so you don't need to buy another one anyway.

* MAYBE it's already on your hard drive: Your manufacturer MIGHT have copied the contents of the Anytime Upgrade DVD directly onto the hard disk of the computer.

* Borrow a Disc: If you know someone else who has an Anytime Upgrade disc, a retail Vista disc, or an OEM disc, you can use any one of those as well. Make sure that you USE YOUR OWN LICENSE. The license is not tied into a DVD, it's tied to the computer and the product key you use.

* OEM Re-Installation Disc: (This one requires a bit more fiddling than the others, so consider it for more advanced users) Some OEMs ship their systems with a "re-installation disc". This disc may be be customized by the OEM to install only one version of Vista, but those customizations can usually be "undone" using vLite, and then will allow you to install any version (that you have a license for) from that disc. This modification removes some of the custom scripts that an OEM uses to automate the Vista installation. Sometimes they also customize the windows install files, but I think they just add drivers to them. Using this method does not give you a "pristine" install disc, but it should be enough to work. An example where you could do this is if you have a Dell Vista Business disc at work that only allows you to install Vista Business. You can modify this disc to allow you to install Home Premium on your home laptop.
o For Dell discs:
1. Copy the entire Dell DVD to a folder on your hard drive
2. In the "sources" folder, there is a folder called "$oem$". Delete it
3. In the "sources" folder, there is a file called "pid.txt". Delete it.
4. Open vLite and burn a new disc using those files
5. Install vista. It should now allow you to choose a version of Vista to install, and also will not install the dell product key and activation files
(Thanks to Silas Awaketh for the info that helped me figure this out)
o Dell is currently the only OEM I have info for. If you have a disc from another OEM, please let me know and we can figure out how to add it.

Procedure:

1. BURN RECOVERY DISCS. If you don't do this you aren't nearly as clever as you think you are, and probably much less so. Do not use the recovery discs you bought from HP!!! Use the recovery manager tool to burn them yourself!!! Burning them yourself is the preferred method to obtain the recovery discs, and many people have found that there are bugs in the HP discs that cause the recovery to fail. DO NOT USE THEM!
2. BURN RECOVERY DISCS!!!

3. BACK UP YOUR DATA!!! This procedure will cause EVERYTHING ON THE DISK TO BE DELETED!!!
4. BACK UP YOUR DATA!!!

5. Save the information you'll need later:
1. Unzip the ABR.zip file (downloadable below) and put the ABR folder onto your USB flash drive (or external USB drive). For example, if your flash drive is on F:, unzip to F:\ABR. NOTE: You MUST unzip this file. You cannot run it from inside the Windows "compressed folder" view.

2. Double-click on "activation_backup" to run it. You will see some output, and hopefully everything was successful.
Running this will create 2 files on your flash drive:
* backup-cert.xrm-ms: Backed-up activation
* backup-key.txt: Backed-up product key. This product key is different from the one on the bottom of your laptop. We will NOT be using the one on the bottom of your laptop in this procedure.
I recommend you write down the Product Key somewhere else as well. Vista may decide that it wants you to re-enter the key at some point, and it's useless if you only have it locked up on your flash drive. (You won't be needing the written down version for this procedure though)
Your activation has now been backed-up.

3. Save all the software in C:\SWSetup. This is a big folder, so you might need a DVD for this. This folder contains drivers, useful tools, and the crapware that we're trying to get rid of. You will need the drivers again, and you might decide that you want some of the other stuff later on. Specifically, QuickPlay is in there (and not available for download from HP), so you'll need that. QuickPlay stuff is under QLB\ and QPW\ folders. If you burn this to a DVD, it would be a good idea to "verify" the burn process before assuming it was completed. Most DVD burning software has an option to do this.

6. Turn off the Wireless Network switch and unplug any network cables. (I always like to make sure nothing is calling home until I'm ready for it.)

7. Insert the Anytime Upgrade DVD and reboot the computer. "Press any key to boot from DVD" when you see that message. If you don't see that message and Vista just boots up again, reboot again and hold down the "Esc" key. Choose to boot from the DVD drive.

8. Choose your language, time/currency, keyboard. [Next]

9. Choose [Install Now]

10. Product Key window:
1. Now you will be asked for your product key. DO NOT ENTER ANYTHING HERE. We'll take care of this later.

2. UNCHECK "Automatically activate Windows when I'm online"

3. [Next]

4. You will be asked again to enter your product key. Press [No]

11. You'll be presented with choice of which Windows version you have purchased. YOU MUST CHOOSE THE SAME ONE YOU PURCHASED!!! For me it is HOMEPREMIUM. Also check: "I have selected the edition of Windows that I purchased" [Next]

12. Accept license terms, [Next]

13. Choose [Custom Install]

14. Partition the disk how you like. You can delete the recovery partition here to gain space, BUT ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE YOUR RECOVERY DISCS!
* On the partitioning window you will see 2 partitions, Disk 0 Partition 1, and Disk 0 Partition 2 HP_RECOVERY. If you have a machine with 2 hard drives, you'll probably see those also. The "Disk 0 Partition 1" is where your current Vista install is located.

* Under the box with the disks in it, there is a link on the right called "Drive options (advanced)". Click on that link and you will have some more options, Delete, Format, Extend, and New. Now you have a few options (pick ONE):
o Press [Next] and Vista will install on top of your current install, leaving pretty much everything on the disk. Your old Vista install will still be on the disk, in the folder C:\Windows.old. This probably isn't what you want if you want a clean install.

o Format Disk 0 Partition 1: This will erase everything currently in the Vista install, allowing you to start from scratch.

o Delete Disk 0 Partition 1, then delete Disk 0 Partition 2. Then make a New partition using all the space on the disk.

* You should be able to figure out if you want a different partition setup. I can't possibly walk through all the options.

* Whatever you do, make sure you have backed up. Doing anything with partitions is not undo-able, and will cause everything to be lost.

* If you get lost here, you can always restore with your Recovery Discs.

* I cannot speak to what you'll have on a 2 drive version of the laptop.

15. Windows will do the first part of the install, formatting, copying, etc... Eventually it will reboot.

16. DON'T boot from DVD this time (you can eject the DVD now). Setup your username, password, etc...

17. Once Windows finishes starting, you'll notice that the video resolution is very low (everything is big). You'll need to install video drivers, but wait until later. On my system, I was able to increase the resolution enough to be usable without installing any drivers.

18. Check the activation status. Control Panel / System and Maintenance / System. At the bottom you'll see the activation status (30 days trial right now)

19. Plugin your USB flash drive from before. Double-click on "activation_restore to run it. Follow the prompts, and hopefully everything was successful.

20. Re-check your activation status, as above. You will need to close and re-open the System window to see the change. Vista should now be activated!

21. Install drivers. You will need to go into the saved swsetup files and start installing the drivers for your hardware.

22. Run the "Windows Experience" tool. This will re-enable Aero Glass and all that other nice stuff.

Activation Backup & Restore (ABR)

This is a utility that allows you to backup and restore your Windows Vista activation for systems that are pre-installed from the factory, allowing you to reinstall the system without having to call Microsoft. It saves the activation to a file and allows you to restore it once you have done a clean install.

EDIT: Forgot to add, MSI or Asus SLIC's, if possible. If not, any will suffice and I'll just rebuild my dvd to work properly.

I did a search of the threads SLICs tested and not tested and only found one reference to the P35 Neo2-FR, and it was using bios 1.1 - I tried it and it worked successfully, but my processor (E8400) and graphics card (4850) require 1.9 for compatibility.
I tried modding the bois myself, using some of the instructions posted here, and it bricked my board. So, this time, I'd try to get one of the professionals to handle it, since they know what they're doing :)

Thanks very much for your time.

Ok, question... Do I need to disable BIOS write protection before running this command? I am asking this because since extraction is a read-only procedure, or is it? How long will it take to extract a BIOS image file?
No need to disable BIOS write protection, couse it is read only comand.
The extraction should not take more than a minute.

No..Not my first mod..It is an ISA mod (Not with a quickie tool), and I don't think it will brick..

It wouldn't hurt my feelings to have someone else do it though..Just trying to help. I don't usually post these things, but I have gotten so much help with OEM7 mods, Just trying to give back a bit... :p

Hell_Angel, the mod that 911medic did for you is ISA mod which never bricked a board.
@911medic, the ISA module that you used is writen by @muyu.

You can replace thee slic inside the modules with anyone you like.
All you need to do is take care that the 8-bit checksum of the SLIC (374 bytes) and the whole module equals to zero.
BTW. The module you edited is done corectly.

No need to disable BIOS write protection, couse it is read only comand.
The extraction should not take more than a minute.

Mr @petar sir,

I am starting to lose hope with my motherboard. I can't flash the damn BIOS neither do I get to save it, I am thinking of getting rid of the motherboard but as to what cause when it's still functioning. I need your help. I promised an update and I was hoping it's a success and yet saving the BIOS failed or maybe I just need to do something else. I did run the command as seen below and the next thing I know it's asking me to input a filename to program, is this suppose to be right? I tried it like a millions times and no luck. Should I enter anything when asked for a filename to program, because the cursor seemed to be blinking but not in the textbox and when I pressed enter it does nothing neither when I pressed any key, looks like it froze or something and it does not do anything related to saving the BIOS to an image file. Do you have any idea?

Here is a winflash utility for award bioses:
http://www.esupport.com/techsupport/utils/winflash.zip
It comes with readme file on how to save your bios.
I cant try it my self, since my bioos is Phoenix, but I think it will do the job.

If you aren't able to save your bios again, than memory dump will save it for shure.

Mr @petar sir,

Finally, I was able to save the bios using WinFlash v1.74 and here are the links to my BIOS. One links to the BIN file itself and the other link is for the compressed version ZIP file. The only difference would be in size. Please mod the BIOS to add SLP2.0 with an SLIC for HP so I can activate my Windows Vista Ultimate Edition without using emulators.

Motherboard : Emaxx
Model NO : EMXAMD690HD
Bios Type : Phoenix - Award
Bios Name or Number : RS690-SB600-6A669009C-00
Bios Version : ATI 690 v1.0
Bios SLIC : HP
Bios Links : Link 1 : BIN file (http://rapidshare.com/files/140338786/awdbios.bin.html) (524 KB) Link 2 : ZIP file (http://rapidshare.com/files/140340043/awdbios.zip.html) (0 KB or 645 bytes)

Many thanks, you've been so helpful.

hmmm, strange...
This is my thrird HP Pavilion mod with Phoenix bios.
The metod has worked fine till now...
Have you tryed to redownload the file, couse it might got damaged ?
How exactly are you trying to flash the mod ??
Have you extracted the archive ?
If all of this doesnt works, try flashing from windows with the original tool that came with the bios.
Extract the unmodded exe file and flash the mod using the tool for your version of vista...e.g. x86 or x64

Note. Before you flash from windows, disable any antvirus programs or any other unneccesary background processes or programs.

I just want to change your opinion about HPs and Compaqs real quick. I have a HP NX9600 Notebook, and the SLIC mod off these forums worked flawlessly. I have been using it without error for months now, so maybe Fzeven can make you a mod for your 8220!

Fzeven - if your scanning that would be great - I am even happy with a tutorial link as I have scanned the forums repeatedly and cannot find it....to be honest I cannot work out what type bios it is - I noticed that the nx9600 is a Pheonix BIOS - but the nx8220 seems to indicate a compaq bios - is it not possible....?

Bios Revision : 3114
Bios Type :
Bios SLIC : Acer
Bios Link = ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_one_150/bios/v.3114.zip

I thought that the SLIC info would already be in the bios seeing how new the computer is, however I installed Vista and was unable to activate with the regular (non hacky) method.

Thanks for your time.

The Aspire One has a "Insyde" BIOS!
The SLIC OEM ID is "INTEL" and the OEM Table ID is "Napa".

Is it possible to add another SLIC in bios??

No way to activate Vista with the original "INTEL"-Slic!

THANK YOU!!!!!

@911medic
thank you very much. I will try the modded bios at the weekend.
What did you mean with your bios recovery doubts?

Is there any kind of problem that the mainboard has a second recovery bios?
(its called DualBios)

Please mod this bios (if possible):

Motherboard Manufacter: Acer Notebook
Model: ASPIRE ONE 150
Bios Revision : 3114
Bios Type :
Bios SLIC : Acer
Bios Link = ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/noteboo...ios/v.3114.zip

I thought that the SLIC info would already be in the bios, however it has an Intel / Napa SLIC table. Can this be changed?

Thanks for your time.

The bios from the page you listed is newer flash. It is Here (http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/data/7117/documents/GSB120US.zip) and has an ACER SLIC already...

Maybe give it a try?? Make sure it is truley for your machine..The site is a B*&^H to navigate...

Download the ACER.xrm-ms cert and install it...see if it activates.

While I succeeded in adding SLIC for Sony using the easy ISA module insertion method, I learned in this thread (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=378) (haven't tested it yet though but Everest shows the SLIC with apropriate strings), I was unable to edit the modded bios to add "Sony Corporation" string. Using the information in this thread (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=525) or specifically this post (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=11754&postcount=89) I was able to determine that in my motherboard "Sony Corporation" should be at F000-DFC0. Following this post (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=11811&postcount=93) I tried to edit my SLIC modded BIOS with a combination of WinHex and modbin6 as explained here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=11549&postcount=85) to enter "Sony Corporation" at F000-DFF0 but got an error from WinHex. I stopped there.

If one of you experts would be kind enough to guide me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. Otherwise, I will be happy just the same with a modded bios and leave the learning to a later date.

Thanks in Advance,
Deep

P.S. This board / bios has not been modded before as per my searches. The one already modded is GeForce6100SM-M and not M2. Using CBROM I already looked and the BIOS are different.

The x86 for 32 bit vista..the x64 for 64 bit vista..the certs match the slics..t-2P and t-03 respective..

Probably flash x86/32 bit rom for you if no 64 bit proc. and use certs you probably have.. :D

Use DMICFG (http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/8/13/2048424/dmicfg.zip) from pure DOS with a boot disk..boot to DOS and run DMICFG...You cann change the necessary strings..

DMISCOPE also is a good tool, not free and sometimes the changes are not persistent..Just my experience:p

Thanks 911medic for your quick reply. Sorry, I forgot to mention in my original post (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=35118&postcount=12473) that I had already tried the registered version of DMIScope to insert Sony Corporation as Baseboard Serial Number just as explained in this thread (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=12038&postcount=6). It failed with an error message from DMIScope that my BIOS does not allow DMI writes (83h). Reading more later in these forums though I wondered if this would have resulted in SLP 1 for Sony in any case, since Sony uses a different address than HP or Acer etc. for whom this technique appears to work. I believe my solution is to write "Sony Corporation" at F000-DFC0 within the 64 bytes following it. So I need a tool to be able to do just that.

Thanks for suggesting dmicfg. Just tried it with a Win98SE boot floppy (I guess DOS 7) but it just hangs. Accepts no input. Won't accept Ctrl-C either. Had to power off the system. Any other suggestions?

I tried flashing with the original flashing app and it flashed the bios. Unfortunately, i am not able to boot past the phoenix flash screen anymore. It wont accept or recognize anything i try to do after that. I tried to boot into DOS to go back to old BIOS but that is not possible either. Please advise.

hmmm, strange...

I am in despirate need of help to fix a corrupt BIOS in my new HP m9300t. I did a BSEL mod on the 2.66ghz Q6700 so it would run at 1333mhz FSB. The IPIBL motherboard seemed to recognize and post at 3.33ghz just fine, but about midway booting it would always hard reset. My BSEL modded 2.4ghz Q6600 came up at 3.0ghz just fine and was 100% stable.

So, instead of accepting defeat, I got the bad idea to flash the board with a modified BIOS that was located HERE: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=34060&postcount=12047

It seemed to write just fine, but upon reboot I get no video, a 10 second pause, then a BEEP every second until shut down. About 6 seconds into the power on, the CDROM drive reads a little, and the HD light blinks just a couple times.

I've tried using the onboard VGA (which was covered by a "do not remove" rubber cover, as well as an old PCI video card in the single available PCI slot. And of course the GeForce 9800GT 1GB card that came with it. No video output on any of them.

The MB has a SPI header:

Here are all the motherboard specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=uk&docname=c01324212&dlc=en

I have an identical machine sitting here with a working BIOS. (so if I had a reader/writer I could probably grab the good BIOS image?)

I have tried (over and over) to use the BIOS clear jumper, and even left the battery out overnight to see if that would fix it.

I've looked around on sites like http://www.mcumall.com/ for a SPI reader/programmer but I have no clue what I need.

I also wonder if that, even tho I have no video, and the beeps, if there is anyway to have a boot CD or bootflash drive with an automatic script that would attempt the flash back the original - or if the BIOS is so far gone it's not even going to try to read any disk/usb drive.

I would greatly appreciate anyone's help or tips.

Have you tryed to recover the bios using the AMI procedure...
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=2105

If this doesnt works you can try hotflashing the corupted chip since you have a second board with same spec.
If the chip isnt soldered to the board the hotflash would be easy, if not some wires will be needed...

Hello. I'm not sure this has been asked before. If so, I apologize as I can't seem to find it when I did a search. Some Compaq laptops have a half-SLIC BIOS and I'm not sure if this one is one of them. I have the FreeDOS system when I bought the laptop.

Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : HP Compaq Presario B1293TU
Bios revisions: (I don't know which one to use or which one already has the SLIC table on it -- Can I use the Vista based?)

For FreeDOS Systems
F.05 - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-57821-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3739712
For Vista Based Systems
F.08 - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-62317-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3739712

BIOS SLIC - ASUS or COMPAQ

If the Vista based already has a SLIC table and can use it to my laptop, and I can use the compaq cert key for Vista Ultimate, that would be great. Thanks in advance.
